  1. Apparently only Cub fans can handle public transit.
  2. Maybe if the offers were anywhere close that comes into play. Honestly, my gut feeling is he already has the successor chosen as well as a plan for the sale. Again, I could be 100% wrong, but it feels like my impression of the last 44 years.
  3. It isn't hard to squint a see a scenario where someone (probably Jerry or Jerry and the authority to some extent) write a check to cover the last $50 million on the old ballpark (or whatever is left by the time a new structure starts) and then keep the existing tax structure in place to finance the new set up. Jerry gets a pay out and the Mayor gets to go on TV and say no "NEW" money is going to the stadium.
  4. I don't see a situation where Jerry hasn't gotten this set up to his satisfaction before he dies.
  5. I get the feeling that if JR picks the next owner, not much will change. With as many owners as he has tried to block over the years, I can't see him pick someone against what he sees as his own legacy. Maybe it is PTSD and all, but it is a real fear of mine.
  6. If you are referring to the chop job, it wasn't on the 83's.
  7. I will be honest, watching them overcome some of the absolute worst work by a wide receiver room I have seen earlier this season was something to behold. It just tells me that watch Mahomes, you are watching a generational QB that we should all take some time appreciate. The last time I saw a guy on this level, he took his head coach from a bust with Cleveland to an Hall of Famer.
  8. I think Taylor Swift has exploded some people's brains.
  9. Is there a recap or free version of this?
  10. There is literally no good reason to spend actual assets trying to compete in 2024. Sure we need to fill out a roster, find some guys who can fill some innings and not kill the guys you want to be around long term, or could have value as trade assets. But other than that we KNOW this team is a dumpster fire. There is zero reason to think about 2024 as anything other than adding for down the road. If we want to talk about fantasy trades, we should be targeting as much volume and quality as we can for 2026 and beyond. Target starting pitching and up the middle players. I am not going to pretend to know other teams systems, but high ceilings and skill positions have to be top targets. The goal is to find WAR to replace Cease, down the road, with a shooting for the stars view of finding 3 starters, including at least 1 star player.
  11. NO one wants early April home games after opening day. It is always the lowest attended type of year, and the southern based teams felt they were getting penalized with more bad attendance games because of it.
  12. If he is even an OK regular he is leaving 10s of millions on the table and not even getting a double digit salary or 7th year for it.
  13. He must think he is going to be out of the league in 3 years.
  14. Let me put it this way, Leury Garcia got more per year on the open market. That's mediocre utility player money in MLB these days
  15. Also this is a joke of a deal. No idea why he signed this. $5 million in his 5th and 6th seasons? Then his option years too? That's awful for the kid.
  16. Literally no one has called Ramos "a sure-fire starter".
  17. That part would be super cool. I go to an annual convention in DC and they always do this in a Smithsonian.
  18. I don't know how people take that seriously.
  19. Look if they can really get #1 and #3 done for Williams and Harrison, while only giving up #9, Fields, and a lower pick or two, you HAVE to do it. If you are drafting a top QB you have to give him tools and protection. Giving him a generational wideout is huge. I would really not be surprised if Harrison is the obvious best pick from this draft 10 years down the road, and not any of the QBs. Yeah, we also need O linemen, but we have the rest of this draft, as well as a fuckton of cap space, which can be used in free agency and after teams start cutting people. If you can't pull off the deal for Harrison, it will be interesting to see what happens to the O linemen to see if they run off the board before #9, or if the Bears can pull one of them, or if they look at the other WRs as this is a big time class for wideouts.
  20. Is Paddy a problem? I mean, I get the impression they don't allow him to spend enough to sign these top Dominican guys. How many superstars have we heard that we were the 2nd highest bid for them? And if we were forcing him to hold funds open for the Cubans, it explains why he couldn't bid up.
  21. Not a single person has mentioned this when Soxfest has been talked about, but sure.
  22. Look if you think Jerry, who made his millions doing exactly this business, didn't ask this stuff in his first three questions, I think you are overestimating it. He might not care about people like you and I, but damned well cares about his fortune.
  23. I went for a lot of years up until 2006 at the Regency, which was a spectacular venue. With as crazy as it was post championship, we quit going. Throw in the venue change, and it was a huge downgrade in quality too.
