Alfonso Soriano signs w/ Cubs
- Chicago Creates a Nativity Scene
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 09:09 AM) So, let me get this straight. The City of Chicago allows a nativity scene on public property, allows a Chamber of Commerce to hold a traditional Christmas market on public property, but is somehow against Christmas because they don't want to market a film about Christmas during the event? QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) Zito must be asking for crazy dollars, because it would make more sense for the Cubs to add a lhp who has not had arm injuries. As compared to a RH power pitcher who has had some arm trouble. I would be willing to bet that he is looking for 7-8 years which is the real deal breaker. I don't think anyone gets hooked into another Kevin Brown.- KW
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) SoxBadger doesn't believe that there is any credible evidence linking Bonds to steroids (at least, he's always defended him against the allegations). f*** Barry Bonds. I agree. There is no real need to call people out like that. If you want to link a post go ahead, but that serves no real purpose but to stir the pot.- Sox & Angels Talking; Crede/Garcia for Santana/Figgins
QUOTE(iamshack @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) Nothing to do with the Buehrle rumor. On Saturday afternoon, while on the air with Chet Coppock, Levine stated Carl Crawford remained KW's top priority this offseason. He didn't necessarily say there were ongoing discussions, or mention any packages being discussed. More simply implied that KW is trying in any way possible to acquire Crawford from the DRays. Good info. Thanks. I could very well see KW working both sets of phones to find out who Tampa wants from Anaheim in order to get Crawford. That would be an excellent pairing for a 3 way deal if we saw Bmac or Santana head to TB along with some other pieces.- Sox & Angels Talking; Crede/Garcia for Santana/Figgins
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) I'm surprised no one has mentioned that Levine said the Sox have been talking with Tampa. With the rumors regarding the Sox trying to get Ervin Santana, I think this means that KW is trying to see what he would have to acquire in order to trade for Crawford. Does this have something to do with the Buehrle for Crawford rumor? Any word on who we are talking to Tampa about?- Suggestions for Debate Questions/Topics

Iraq Iraq was one of the biggest things on the minds of voters during our last election cycle. What would be your biggest priority in Iraq? Are you in favor of immeditate withdrawl, timelined withdrawl, adding more troops, or continuing with current troop levels until such a time we feel it is OK to leave? **************************************************************************************** --Each candidate can make one initial position post in each thread, of NO MORE THAN 500 words. --Each candidate also gets to respond to ONE other candidate's post IN EACH of those threads, with the same 500 word limit. --The candidate who was responded to then gets ONE MORE POST to retort (to each response/question, so that may be more than once in the same thread), again, limit 500 words. --The threads will remain open until Sunday night late, at which time I will close them (the election is Tuesday). Tax policy What sort of taxation methodology do you favor? A national income tax, (if so do you favor progressive, regressive, or flat) A value added tax, or a national sales tax? Tell us why your preferred method is better than what we have, or how you would seek to improve our current federal taxation system, if you do indeed agree with it? ********************************************************************************************* --Each candidate can make one initial position post in each thread, of NO MORE THAN 500 words. QUOTE(ptatc @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) This is the point in question. Steroids were not against the rules of baseball at the time. He DID NOT CHEAT. Everyone on this board know how I feel about steriods. They will kill you and are ethically wrong and illegal. However, it si not cheating in baseball. I am torn about the decision to let him in the HOF. What he did was wrong and illegal but not cheating. This is simialr to Paul Molitor not getting in because of cocaine abuse. In my eyes it's wrong and illegal but not cheating. So for now That is exactly how I feel about it. Baseball screwed up by not getting testicles and actually having a drug policy. Even if Mark McGwire came clean in a tear filled rant on Oprah, he did not actually do anything wrong as far as MLB was concerned at the time. Now if you want to play the illegal card, that opens a whole nother ball of wax. If you want to keep people out of the Hall for steriods, preMLB testing, you have an obiligation to also keep out every single other person who did something illegal during their time in MLB, such as the drunk drivers, the wifebeaters, the druggies, the tax frauders, the fighters, etc. MLB screwed this up, and now they get to go onto the national stage and try to justify their screw ups. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) Dude was a weak hitter, overall, but for the homeruns, and he's an HOFer? Dude only excels in one phase of the game, through questionable methods, and he belongs in the Hall? Why doesn't Tim Raines belong, a man so so great at stealing bases but not THAT great at something else? I don't think McGwire is a first-ballot HOFer when you factor in the suspicions. Tim Raines should be a first ballot HOFer. There is no doubt in my mind. He comes up for vote on the 2008 ballot.- Sox & Angels Talking; Crede/Garcia for Santana/Figgins
On the surface, this deal makes sense for both teams. The Angels get the bat they have been looking for years now, plus they get a veteran starting pitcher who isn't afraid of the big game. The Sox unload a player they have zero chance of resigning longterm, who is also looking at perpetual back problems, and also get back their leadoff hitter, plus a young starter, not to mention the approximate 10-13 million dollars worth of annual savings.- "Kramer" loses it!!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 09:10 AM) We all do. However, it's not up to us. If Crede and Boras are going to want a 5/75 type of contract, than Joe can continue his career elsewhere... LOL. 5/75 is LONG GONE as a possiblity. Let me put it to you this way, if you were a GM, would you rather give 6/100 to Carlos Lee as a mediocre corner OFer, or to Joe Crede as a GG 3B? Kiss Joe goodbye, because he is as good as gone.- Six Imams removed from flight
New story with more on the behavior of the Imams. It seems as if they were aligning themselves just like the 9-11 terrorists did, at least according to this article. http://www.washtimes.com/national/20061128-122902-7522r.htm Full story at link... - Chicago Creates a Nativity Scene
