Senate planning votes on hot-button issues
Good. I am glad to see most had sense enough not to vote for something that has no place in the consititution in the first place.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&a
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:22 AM) I don't see anything wrong with what he did. As someone said earlier, that's a tremendous competitive attitude the young man has. Its put up or shut up, and Zumaya put up.

Pee No Evil
Sad but true. Baseball writers are afraid of losing their insider info and status, so no one has really done any investigative reporting among the people who have the most intimate access to the situtation.

Terror attack expected by end of year
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) Except on September 10th, the Bush administration was threatening to veto a defense spending bill because a 66 million dollar earmark was shifted from a weapons system program to bolstering anti-terrorism efforts. In the summer of 2001, there was a lot of clatter on the Hill about terrorism - from Rudman and Hart. Unfortunately, few people on either side of the leadership that summer seemed interested in talking to them. And actually that pretty well proves my point. Up until September 10th Bush was defending what he thought was the most likely source of attack on the US, and he got laughed at and ridiculed by the other side and the media for it. Also people have been talking about terror attacks for decades, and what has been done about it? Nothing until something happens. Like I said I guarentee you there are thousands of potential attacks that we should be thinking about defending and we aren't. Then we something happens, we will all hear about how negligent everyone is, and how bad all of their planning is, because after all, who would blow up a federal building in Oklahoma City, right?

Miguel Tejada
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) I don't mind the thought of trading Brandon, but if we do trade him, then we should really think about trying to get relief pitching for him. Unless you are getting a top notch closer for him, trading Brandon McCarthy or any other top starting pitching project for a reliever is extremely short sighted at best.

Message to Jim Thome

Haeger 6-0
5 walks... Is Charlie still overthrowing the knuckleball? I noticed he was in the mid 70s with it when he started up here, and to really be successful with the knuckler, you need it the slower the better.

Gay baseball players
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Kazuhito Tadano. And there is a difference between coming out and being recognized in a gay porn movie you did in college for a little extra cash. That sounded like the voice of experience... [Digs out Flaxx to the Future]

New roids story
This one is going to be huge. Every other thing we have heard about has been an isolated individual case. Now we have an actual supplier getting busted, and it sure as hell sounds like he doesn't want to go down as a supplier. Now is when you will see the real fun start as reporters start to speculate about who has played with Grimsley, who played in California, who went back to Latin American the most, and who interacted with these players. You think the speculation was bad before when it was just a few players, just wait. Once again baseball is getting paid back for having a half-assed drug policy that was still missing obvious things like speed and HGH which is only detectable through blood tests, and oh yeah, baseball only does piss tests. Until MLB does Olympic style testing this same s*** is going to keep happening as players find easy holes in the system. Sit back, relax, and strap it down, this is going to be a wild one.

Gay baseball players
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) You think most people are gay because they are craving attention? That is one of the more ignorant things I've seen posted on this board. Seriously. You should be embarrassed. It isn't a choice. It is a trait - a base, profound personality dimension. It can be suppressed to some extent, but not removed by simply making a choice. What? I am black by choice.

What Does Ozzie Need to do differently; How should they handle BMac
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:53 PM) By the way, this is exactly how to use BMac. He pitched a couple times last series, got 2 days off, pitched again today. He should never go more than 2 days without pitching. WINNER! The kid has to pitch in order to be effective. He pitches 3 times in six days, and lo and behold he keeps getting sharper with each outing. Way to go Brandon, our new RH set up man.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&a
See what happens when your best pitching prospect pitches more than once every week to ten days or so? Incredible job by the pitching staff, not allowing a hit with RISP the whole game.

Terror attack expected by end of year
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/20...ge-alerts_x.htm The irony is that that "flimsy evidence" will be thrown back in Ridge's or whoevers faces when the next 9-11 happens, just like the last time that it happened. We'll hear all of the same "why wasn't anything done" people screaming at the top of their lungs, while the government will scream back "We told you so". right back at them. I know I have said this before and I will say it again, I will guarentee you that sitting on people's desks right now in the CIA, DHS, FBI, NSA, and any other goverment agency you want to throw out there are tens of thousands of potential terror attacks, against pretty much any target you want to pick. Nuclear plants, buildings, ports, airports, water supply, biological agents, hospitals, malls, financial centers, dirty bombs, etc are all being kicked about by someone, somewhere, right at this very moment, who would love nothing more than to strike fear into the heart of the great satan. The vast majority of the threats are very real, but as forgetful as Americans are, they are more worried about deficit spending, than they are about the fact that about 10% of cargo coming into the US from other countries is actually inspected. Think about it. If GWB had walked into Congress on Monday September 10th, 2001 and asked for $50 billion to stop OBL from flying planes into buildings he would have gotten laughed out of Washington DC, and derrided as a fake President. If GWB would have asked for a trillion dollars to fix every single 2% chance of terror on Wednesday September the 12th 2001, Congress would have been fistfighting to be in the center of the photo-op.

Official Day 1 Draft Thread
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) I'll take the risk over a Lance Broadway clone. Add to the fact that scouts think he could add more velocity to his fastball as he fills out, I would've been much happier with that pick. Reading between the lines, it sounds to me like they are saying they need to rebuild his motion or he is an injury risk. Meh.

Interesting pick, and he backround athletically is really interesting. Between running cross country and catching, I wonder how the kid has any knees left?
