Angled Seats .......... How does everyone feel about them?
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) This is such a tired discussion. If your neck can't take a few hours of turning slightly once in a while (if you want to, you do get to turn you head away from the plate between pitches, to view the scoreboard, vendors, others around you, and when the ball is hit into the field of play), then you should probably watch at home, where you can angle your chair to view your TV perfectly. And your chair at home can be green if you want, too... Can you do something about my cat that won't leave me alone during the game?

Hangar18's Chicago NewsMedia Watch Thread
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 09:10 AM) People here don't all think everything is a "Sunny Day". But having posted here and there a lot in the last year, I think you'll find posters here in general are a lot less apt to take ANYTHING at face value. All are questioned, even veteran posters. Discussion is had. That's the kind of board this is, for better or worse. Thanks, you pretty much took the words out of my mouth. Due to the open nature of the board, we encourage people to ask questions, investigate, and come up with their own opinions. We feel that following the herd doesn't accomplish anything, and that it makes for bad fans. By allowing this type of enviornment, you have to EXPECT to be questioned on anything that has gray area in it, and it seems that many people have questions on that. Its the nature of the beast here. An open forum, means an open forum both for good and for bad.

NYT: Rove Will Not Be Indicted
So does this mean we should cancel the Dick Cheney Indictment Watch? QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 09:34 AM) On the website it's right below the Bush in Iraq story. On a side note, how sad is it that we have to have a news story saying that government members WON'T be indicted? Its saids a lot doesn't it :headshake

Official Day 2 Draft Thread
QUOTE(controlnut @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 03:12 AM) 23. Brandon Villalobos, lhp, Chaffey College (CA) 23. Brandon Villalobos, lhp, Chaffey College (CA) Here is some more info on the 23rd pick. Villalobos: He's actually between 5'-10"-5'-11" 190 lbs. He graduated from Glendora high school, same school as former sox Aaron Rowand. In the 2003 draft some teams looked to draft him in rounds 4-6. He attended Long Beach State . Part way through his fresh. year at lbsu his style and mechanics where changed, it didn't work for him, it caused a location problem and then the "confidence" problem was created. He transferred to Chaffey Col. and the coaching staff returned him to his normal form. His last 33 innings of the regular season he gave up two runs(unearned).Googleing him says overall era 2.87and led his confernce with a era of 0.00. He's high 80's low 90's lefty with a lot movement, two seam, 4 seam, slider, curve and change. Welcome to Soxtalk and thanks for the info I take it you are someone either who knows him or went to a same school?

Congrats to the Count
Ozzie all but named him the all-star starting pitcher, barring a collapse in the next few weeks.

Angled Seats .......... How does everyone feel about them?
QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) I READ THAT ARTICLE!!!! The article indeed states that the Chicago Fire wanted BLUE seats because BLUE doesnt appear as empty on TV. This topic on the other site would get dozens banned for talking about blue seats/attendance. I gotta say one thing here... we all know you got in trouble at WSI, and we all know that we have a different philosophy on how we do things here. For some people, it is a big deal, but for most of us, we could care less. I know a decent amount of people over there, and I gotta say for the great majority they are very cool people, and great Sox fans. We might not agree on how we like our message boards moderated, but it doesn't stop us from being friends. Part of the Soxtalk philosophy is to pretty much let people decide what they want to talk about, so we aren't going to tell anyone to stop talking about stuff, but just know that the whole evil WSI thing gets kinda boring, especially since we aren't looking for a West Side Story rumble with the guys anyway. They have their thing, we have ours, and people can make up their owns minds as to what they like better. There is no real need for the hate.

Roethlisberger injured in motorcycle crash
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Thanks guys. I had just read the like Mike posted. I got this from a co-worker who's brother lives and works for channel 4 in Pitts. "All indications are that Ben never saw what was coming. No skid marks. He impacted on the windshield. The van turned into his path at an intersection when the van was turning left. Witnesses said Ben had the green light. Ben landed on his head. He did try to get up but it wasn't able to. Witnesses held him still until help arrived. Knew his name, etc. Van from Maine. Ben was on his way to practice after an 8:30am radio interview. Coach and most of the team is at the hospital. He's serious but no longer critical as was reported." And that is EXACTLY why you wear a helmet. It isn't that you don't know what you are doing, it is because you don't know what everyone else is doing.

Ozzie Lambasted Over Weekend. Do you Agree??
As usual, the difference in culture and backround get lost in translation. In a Latin culture, selling out someone close to you is a much bigger deal in a Catholic family oriented society. In many of the poor countries these people are looked at as a means of survival in a world that doesn't care about them. That same feeling is carried over to teammates, friends, etc for many Latinos. I would have been shocked if Ozzie DIDN'T say something to be honest. This is par for the course for him.

Hitting Coach
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 07:33 AM) Yeah a few people have suggested that for Juan. Maybe it'll happen later on in the season again like last year. If only Cintron was better defensively though, because he looks like he's back to where he was hitting wise earlier in his major league career. Uribe doesn't need Hriniak, or anyone else. What he needs to do is listen to what he is being told, and try to implement it, instead of doing the same old thing. Its obvious they keep trying to fix Juan, but for whatever reason he doesn't make the adjustments. IIRC, that is the exact reason that Colorado had no problem with dumping him for Aaron Miles.

Uribe
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Maybe if you didn't put such a stupid-ass title like Uribe, sucks at baseball and the other varieties of head scratchers you post of might have something to do with it.. DING! QUOTE(jenksd @ Jun 11, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) Or they're mocking the fickle reasoning behind your dislike of certain players. Especially considering the fact that the real knocks against those players are existent and you just haven't conveyed a moderately coherent or respectable way of using those points to argue. Instead you're acting like remaining adamant and close-minded about your opinion is simply enough to be right. But that's just my guess. DING! QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) That's a possible explaination for my behavior, but doesn't account for the behavior of other posters who used an ad hominem attack instead of stating their case for Juan Uribe. See below answer. If you want to engage in an intelligent conversation, something as simple as an intelligent thread title is a good start... QUOTE(jenksd @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) You fling crap, you get crap flinged back at you. DING!
