Didn't Know Where to Put This
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Yet Wrigleyville is the safer area. :rolly And in honor of Kotex-Boy, I have adopted the derogatory nickname of Wrigley, "The Deadly Confines", and I encourage all to use it. As we have learned, short of using substantative arguements, use cute kitchy phrases to demoralize your enemies.

Will Konerko re-sign?
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) I mentioned this in my original post, but I would much rather they give the 1B job to Gload and dangle a pitcher for an upgrade at 3B. 3B isn't going to be a primary worry for Kenny. Unless something big happens, they want the field clear for Josh Fields in 2007.

Minor League roster question
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) When they are activated, there has to be room made on the roster for them. Sorry I wasn't clear, I actually meant how do they affect Charlottes roster. Do they have to move guys around to make room for Frank and Ross?

Minor League roster question
With both Frank and Ross in Charlotte for rehabs, do they have to clear roster spots for each of them? Or is there somekind of an exemption because they are major leaguers on a rehab??

A Sox trade brewing....
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Who could really afford Clemens this year? He's making too much, I don't think he's going anywhere. The way people talk around here, you'd think the Astros we're dying to get rid of Lidge. Keep in mind, when we get to the end of July the season is more than half over. That means a team isn't paying $18 million for Clemens but more like $7 or 8 million. And I totally agree with the last line of your post. There is no way Lidge gets dealt, unless a GM offers an obsence amout of players for him.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Do you have any ideas on who that 1B might be? With Kenny Williams, you never know. But there isn't a guy better at filling holes than Kenny is. With all of our starters owned by the team through the end of 2006, we have an extra pitcher with McCarthy making his name heard. Many, many teams will listen if we are talking about a pitcher for 1B.

QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) Does anyone think with Houston sucking so bad that they might give up Morgan Enesberg. He would be a solid pickup Bad teams don't want to deal young cheap players. They want to deal expensive old players. The guy most likely to be dealt out of Houston is Roger Clemens, and then MAYBE Biggio, if he wanted to go. But that is about it. They aren't going to be dealing guys like Oswalt, Lidge, etc.

Big trade coming for the Flubs?
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Cubs fans seem to think it is Adam Dunn and Danny Graves. They will be happy that it's Billy Wagner but will be pissed they aren't getting Adam Dunn. The Cubs need Wagner more than they need Dunn. If they are indeed getting Wager they just need to STFU and thank Jim Hendry.

Interesting Outside the Lines on right now
QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 24, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) Don't you guys remember 1991-1994? This town was a Sox town through and through during those years. We outdrew the Cubs, Wrigleyville was still a dump, and the Cubs couldn't make a right decision. Only in the past ten years has this become a definitively Cubs town, and only because of Sammy Sosa, Harry Carey's death, the gentrification of Lakeview and a freer-spending tribune company. If the Sox consistently make the playoffs for 2-3 years and draw well, and if any kind of development happens in the area around the Cell, this'll be a Sox town again. The Cubs are seriously in dire straits with the way things have played out this season. Wood's career is all but over in my opinion (he won't even win 100 games in his career. Can you believe that?), Garciaparra looks like he's done, and the Cubs don't have any bullpen to protect their good starters. Plus, they now are extraordinarily weak in the outfield, positions where you really need power, especially in the NL. They might lose 90-100 games this season if the wheels come off and I can't see them being good next season with the impending firing of Baker (again, my opinion). They've overstretched their budget and the tribune co. is probably sick of dealing with Hendry. The Cubs situation isn't nearly as dire as you think. They have $16 million of Sosa's coming off of the books next year, and if they can't get Nomar healthy, they have another $7 million or so to spend. Plus they have some solid prospects coming through the system to help a few of their shortcomings. As much as I would like the Cubs to fall apart, there is sunlight on the horizon.

Marlins, anyone?
QUOTE(TLAK @ May 23, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) The Marlins have a special place in my heart due to the 2003 playoffs. I live by St. Jane’s and they had the Our Lady of the Millennium statue up during the playoffs that year. This is a 40 foot tall Madonna that comes on the back of semi-trailer. They raise it up hydraulically in the church parking lot. People come from miles around to say the rosary and other prayers. At my house we called her Our Lady of the Marlins and fervently prayed for her help in defeating the cubs. The power of prayer is real, the cub lost in the most ignoble manner imaginable. At Thanksgiving that year grace ended ‘God bless the cook, those who have left us (names…), and God Bless the Florida Marlins. Like everyone else I had noticed the Marlins in the second half that year but I didn’t really watch them until the playoffs against the Giants. I remember saying “I love these guys, they play just like the old White Sox.” They won by riding a couple hot pitchers, a couple hot bats and not doing anything stupid. I went to US Cellular to see them during the hurricane game, when they beat Gary Majewski by just doing their jobs as the Expo’s self-destructed. They did nothing spectacular, no heroism, just played 9 solid innings of baseball and waited them out. Now people are saying the White Sox are playing like the Marlins but I think both the White Sox and the Marlins are really playing like the old White Sox I grew up watching. Then lets start saying some rosaries for the Sox

Sox/Cubs on PTI
QUOTE(YASNY @ May 24, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) What I can't believe is Dusty Baker actually complaining about that play. He should be jumping Lee's ass for being stupid enough to fall for it, instead of whining to media about it. Why not, its what Dusty does. If he were a woman, he would be the battered housewife making excuses in front of the judge for her husband. Excuses, excuses, excuses...

Off to the house of horrors
QUOTE(CubKilla @ May 23, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) You overlooked the P with a 13+ ERA going into tonights game that is about to SO the White Sox :banghead . Different team, same results. Scouting report for opponents of the Chicago White Sox..... trot out any piece of s*** P you have in the farm system that none of the Sox players have seen. Sure fire way to win. So far this season we have seen 5 starting pitchers for the first time. Chacin TOR 6 IP 5 ER 9 H 2 BB 5 K Brazelton TB 4.2 IP 5 ER 4 H 6 BB 2 K Cabrera BAL 6 IP 5 ER 6 H 4 BB 4K Bedard BAL 7 IP 2 ER 5 H 3 BB 4K Santana was only the second SP we have seen for the first time, that we scored less than 5 runs off of. Yep, same old White Sox.

QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ May 23, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) WOW VIZ SUCKS Wow with an argument like that, how can you go wrong? Personally I would like to see Baj get another shot, but there isn't any room for him at the inn. We still have to make room for Frank Thomas (prob Walker) and then Ross Gload a couple of weeks after that (Timo? Willie? Ozuna?)
