  1. Where did you get the info that the uneducated voted for Bush? Most republicians are uneducated? If the repubs are the party of the rich, how do you get rich and uneducated at the sametime? What you are saying is completely contradictary. You need to get on your meds or something.
  2. Rudy would be an interesting choice to say the least. It also prepares him for a run at the White House in '08.
  3. Fed Funds are at 1.5% right now, which is at historically unheard of numbers, even after two .25% rate increases by the federal reserve bank. More than anything I really believe it is an intentional devaluing to make imports more expensive, and to make our good cheaper overseas. They really want to protect the American worker, and since the WTO keeps ruling against all the US protection methods, this is the easiest legal way that the US sees to keep competitive against the flood of cheaper products.
  4. It didn't increase as a percentage of the voters as a whole. That number stayed steady at 17% according to Brian Williams of NBC. But as a raw number all of the age brackets had huge increases in the number of people who voted.
  5. Thats a long term trend. That is completely different than one day of trading. The US has been devaluing for quite a while to cheapen their exports and make domestic good cheaper here as compared to imports. My assessment of today's trading is dead on. I work on a desk that has accounts worth millions of dollars that trade forgein currencies. Not to sound like a jerk, but I talked to a couple of guys today who trade this stuff. The rise in the markets was a direct result of the monies flowing in from saftey nets such as bonds and currencies.
  6. Who wouldn't want Tim Hudson at $6.5 million? Maybe a team with big budget problems, but any GM with a spit would kill for Hudson.
  7. Its in almost all of the news articles about it.
  8. If this is the source, forget it. The only thing less dependable than Whitesox.com message boards are Peter Gammons.
  9. I have no doubt the Karl Rove wing would have tried everything. It would have been interesting to see if Bush could have said no to them. Especially if it looked as dire as it did for Kerry. And I am definately am respectful of the fact that Kerry took the highroad, in spite of what he was being told.
  10. I'd be all over that deal. I am a big PK fan, but Tim Hudson would be way more valuable.
  11. Just a hunch on my part. NYY needs a big name guy and lacks prospects. AZ wants a big name and prospects. The Sox need a front line pitcher and have prospects. The Sox have worked with Cashman very well, as evidenced by the Contreras deal and the Colon deal. These 3 teams are a good match. Who knows what will happen, but god it is fun to speculate.
  12. I saw that pic plenty of times... you must not have been looking in the right places
  13. Gore/Kerry 2008? Too early? No but seriously, I totally agree with your assessment.
  14. I don't KNOW what it would be. That's why I said I THINK. It is the whole disenfranchisement working at its best. Many minorities don't think their vote counts, so they vote in lower percentages than whites do. States that have a very extreme base, have much lower turnouts because people don't feel the need to vote, because they don't feel their vote matters. I think it would go to reason that if the popular vote was all that mattered, and the small states voices became smaller, that their turnouts would follow suit.
  15. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20041103/D864IT600.html The interesting thing about the concession, was the Edwards didn't want Kerry to do it. He wanted to "explore every avenue"
  16. Yeah but once the urban areas were mostly counted, and Kerry's vote base was depleted, there really wasn't a chance of him making up sizable deficits. It wasn't like they were talking about a couple thousand votes. Bush had a 150,000 vote lead, with 250,000 provisional ballots in exisistance, many of which will be disqualifited. Kerry would have had to had a DC-like return in a state that was 50-50. It just wasn't realistic. And it was the samething in Florida. Florida was decided when Kerry still trailed by a large talley with most of Palm, Broward, and MD counties reporting.
  17. The conservatives have made very big issues out of things like gay marriage, abortion, religion etc. I think that is what is being referred to here.
  18. You could tell the networks were all afraid of pulling a Florida 2000. I really didn't understand what took the networks so long either.
  19. Episode two is tonight. If you are a South Park fan, this is something worth checking out.
  20. I still see a 3 way deal being done. The Yankees sound like they really want to dump Brown. I could see us being involved by sending a couple of prospects to AZ for Brown, to round out the Posada/Unit trade. Then our rotation is done, the Yankees get their star, and the DBacks get a name, and some guys to rebuild around.
  21. Genius, pure genius. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6396422/

Where I-45 deadends on the main street, you go the opposite way of where the main beaches are. They have a ferry that runs every 1/2 hour or so (there are signs for it all over the place. You drive right onto any of the beaches, and it is much quieter and cleaner.

  24. I don't. I think the rural vote would die.
