  1. You seem to be some off-hand excuse for the front office, that we are supposed to automatically accept as their creed.
  2. Then you shouldn't be on a baseball message board telling everyone how great a move is if you don't understand how a 40 man roster works.
  3. Yet two seconds later, the team can't afford the same money to make a much bigger improvement in LF, because they are broke and have to stay in a budget because everyone has a budget. While the temptation is to look at every move in isolation and pretend to not understand why people aren't happy, but when the moves actually contradict each other, not looking at them as a whole makes it easy to ignore that. If we are managing for today, manage for today. If we are managing for tomorrow, manage for tomorrow. But don't piss on my leg and tell me it is raining when the moves don't add up together.
  4. He's mocking the White Sox for being cheap, not making an actual quantitative statement on the quality of the player based on his salary.
  5. Or released Andrew Benny and paid his replacement a near league minimum salary instead of blocking that position for no reason.
  6. I agree with you, but probably not for the reasons you believe.
  7. Do teams generally hold 40 man roster spots for Spring Training catchers who apparently can't catch? Or is it just the White Sox?
  8. They have a ton of guys to serve as ST catchers. They didn't hold a spot all winter for that, and if they did, we have much bigger problems.
  9. And if you aren't willing to play him to see if he can improve, why is he taking up a 40 man slot all this time when you could have had another guy you like better?
  10. This. Plus it sounds like he might have been exposed a bit when he got to high level competition. Let the kid simmer until he forces the issue. No need to rush him to start his clock on what is probably going to be a 90ish loss team.
  11. For me, most of his future is his health. It's never good when a dude of his size and age is already having back problems, but that is the easiest way for his career to be derailed quickly.
  12. Maybe it could get stretched into something like a 25 A ball reliever, but yeah, the point is this is almost certainly going to be nothing.
  13. Again, these things typically sort themselves out over the course of a season, but please don't Rodon this if you are the White Sox. They seem to be very heavily leaning Roch at this point, but we have almost three months to still go.
  14. Judging by what other back up catchers have gone for, especially flawed ones, I would be shocked if this was anything more than Mr Considerations here.
  15. Guessing they need the 40 man roster spot with the other injuries potentially requiring other adds. Either that, or they have never liked him, and they finally take the cash considerations for him instead of wasting a roster spot again.
  16. And that none of these moves can actually be wrong. The usual suspects carrying the usual water. A week ago I got told that they couldn't afford the million dollars to replace Benny on the roster. Now this. New GM, same cheap Jerry.
  17. A week ago the reason we couldn't release Benny was because of the extra million dollars it would take to replace him on the roster... and then we do this.
  18. And I am always entertained by your pseudo-methamphedamine posts.
  19. You guys did it for Clevinger 3 times!
  20. And their utter inability to help whatever it is.
