Coming off of the complete collapse of this rebuild and throwing the old regime under the bus to do it, Getz walked into what we are now being told is a complete disaster which had no other outcome other than long term collapse of the franchise, (despite claiming that Getz was lying to everyone when he claimed the Sox could compete quickly, which is the valid reason to hold on to Robert,) with an asset at its peak in a franchise circling the drain. An asset now that we are told has been lazy and doesn't listen to coaching. An asset that has had injury problems since he was signed at 18. This under a GM who was supposed to not need time figure it out, because he already knew everything about the players in the organization. And despite all of this, we are supposed to focus on "value", despite Getz having access to all of this insider information knowing full well that if he stayed some combination of injury prone, lazy, and uncoachable, he wasn't going to get any kind of a return for Robert anyway? If Chris Getz was really more worried about the PR of "value" versus what was best for this franchise long term, he should quit his job and find something safer for his level of cowardice. Teams were going to back up the truck for a healthy and cheap 2023 Luis Robert. Take the best offer, reload, and use it to move the rebuild forward. The Sox got massive returns for players in similar situations in the last rebuild. If these guys were half as smart as we are told, they should have been fine.
