Putting a few different pieces together, I wonder if with the change from Williams and Hahn, to a much less experienced Getz, and then adding in what we know from other threads about Jerry and Tony's continued involvement in things, if the problem is that Getz is out there trying to get things done, but getting told no by Jerry/Tony, and then having to crawl back to the people he was negotiating with to tell them it fell apart. Who knows if it is true or not, but when you are getting threads about MUCH more experienced guys being kept on a leash, and then threads about GMs getting frustrated dealing with Getz, those things would fit together well.

Is “The 78” Dead? Or even more alive? Fire announce plans for SSS

Here's the thing, if you have been around MLB parks, the ones that stand out, are the ones that have something extra about them. Whether that is a retro design (BAL, etc), the skyline as a part of the view from home plate, some extra special activity or feature within the stadium or stadium complex (such as the KC waterfall, the Domes that open and close (TOR, HOU, TEX) the rockwall in ANA, the train in HOU, roller coaster in DET), unique designs such as water in play for HRs (Cincy SF, PIT), an entertainment district around the park (ATL, CUB, BOS), monument park in NYY, or even the history around the park (CUB/BOS/LAD) there is something that stands out about pretty much all of these parks ranked in front of Sox Park. Sox Park's biggest draws seem to be sightlines and adequate parking. It's ranked low because there is nothing exciting or unique about it. It ranks low because it is the Wal-Mart "great value" brand of stadiums. It has all of your basic ingredients, but there is absolutely nothing special about the park or game day experience. -
Cubs acquire old friend Michael Soroka

The Sox operated half of this year without any television revenue, and then under a new regime which is going to be lower than their previous one. The idea that the Sox lost money again this year seems pretty obvious to me. -
Bryan Hudson up, Owen White down, Elko reinstated, then optioned

Though some prefer random horseshit posts. -
It was Sale, not Crochet, but yeah.

Comerica was the result of trying to do TOO much. They tried to combine retro with a literal circus. I wasn't a fan at all. -

The Ballpark would have worked if the office building in LF didn't block the outward airflow. It was so incredibly stuffy in there, and it is 100 degrees all of the time. -
Boston seems to have a lot of communication issues, and is probably the worst in baseball at trashing their players on the way out the door. The injury problem is scary.

Tucker should be a symbol for them. They traded for him, they'd better be willing to extend him.

Would you be on board with a rebrand when Ishbia takes over?
southsider2k5 replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
ReBrand on the field like a real franchise. The uniform is not the problem. -
Shift the goalposts wherever you like, I am just saying your context was inaccurate.

June 5th is basically 2 months ago, and Colson went through a horrible slump after his initial bounce.
-
Look, I absolutely hope I am wrong here, but I have worked in the trading industry for going on 30 years. Sunk Cost Fallacy and the Dead Cat Bounce are things for a reason. Could he have finally figured something out at 27? Sure. Is it more likely that his history going back almost a decade is more accurate than this 2/3 of a season than we have played? Odds are way higher this way.
-
That's the scariest part of them all. This is about as healthy as he has been since he was 18. 91 out of 112 games played is a ratio he has done exactly once in his professional career. This is a large part of what you are betting on if you pay to bring him back next year.
-
Is "lesser" better than the nothing we are currently sitting on for the past two seasons? Because so far betting on Luis Robert has only benefited Luis Robert.

Yeah, I was trying not to measure the guys we signed out of Cuba at say 18 years or older, because it puts them on a different scale than the 16 year olds out of Latin America, but yeah. I think the next most successful guy would be Bryan Ramos, who has tasted the majors, but it still TBD.
-
The wild thing is that Lenyn Sosa might actually be the biggest victory for Sox scouting and development out of Latin America, who wasn't an older Cuban, in the last decade. (Tatis Jr was signed July 2015)

Again the best part of this revival has been that is started as soon as the kids were allowed to play more, and some of the horrible, horrible players signed in the off season were yeeted into the abyss. The biggest problem for moving forward is that there isn't anything left currently performing at a decent level in the tank for the near future to move up. The only position player who could be considered ready for the majors is 3rd catcher Korey Lee. The next big guy is the other Montgomery who JUST got to AA and is probably a late 26, early 27 arrival if there are no speed bumps. Past that, the quality position players are 2/3/4 years away. Hagen Smith and Dutch Schultz have been moved up, but have been somewhere between mediocre and awful. Schultz hasn't pitched in a month now, and has still not hit as many as 90 innings in a single season. Hagen Smith hasn't been over 60 pitches in an outing since before he was hurt in May. He's still giving up 3 walks for every 4 IP too.

The Future of the White Sox TV Broadcast Team
southsider2k5 replied to palehose1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He's really not though. It's completely obvious that baseball isn't his first language. He has no feel for the game, and for the little things that happen with in it. He brings nothing extra to the game, and really doesn't seem have the ability to make a partner better either. Granted he is better when someone like Beckham or Pleasac is in the booth with him (instead of Steve Stone, but It is really telling when another dude with no PBP MLB experience steps into the booth and sounds way better in Connor McKnight. I get it is hard to fall in a pile of s%*# and come out smelling like roses, so it isn't easy to make the Sox sound good right now, but that shouldn't be what his job is. His job is mostly to tell us what happening. The color guy should be the one adding to that story. The Sox main booth is currently one of the worst in baseball/ -
How the heck did we not get DeVries for Crochet?
southsider2k5 replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hopefully the answer is that Peller wouldn't give him up at the time. -
This is completely unbelievable. I don't know why you lie. You aren't married.

Dude has had such a weird season. I don't recall seeing some oscillate between golden god and Martin Maldonado feels sorry for me so much in one season.

This should contain a trigger warning
