  1. Nunn has apparently committed to Illinois officially.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) 1-0 pitch was a strike Eh, from a lefty, you don't often get that call.

    Car Help Thread

My car randomly began overheating today. I drove from Chicago to Rockford without any problems. After settling into my new place, I made a quick trip to the grocery store. For some reason, it began to overheat, and smoke started coming from the coolant reservoir from under the hood on the way home. I pull into my parking spot, turn the car off, and when I get out, I see coolant leaking from the bottom. Well, when I pop open the hood to see what was going on, the coolant is gushing out from underneath the radiator cap. I have never seen this before in my life. It hasn't been overheating at all since I replaced the water pumps all those months ago. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be?
  4. This reminded me a lot of that MNF game in Detroit last season. EVERYTHING went wrong, from awful play on the field, to not getting a single call from the awful refs, and they still had their chances. Offense was awful from top to bottom. I'm not going to overreact and panic yet. Mike Tice....wtf dude. No help for Webb on Matthews? Not a single play call that gave the ball to playmakers in the open field. Know how to defense against a speed rush? Screen plays. Oh, they're double-teaming Marshall? What the hell did we draft Alshon for? Just bad, bad, bad offense from top to bottom. Defense played a phenomenal game. I think they looked better tonight than in Week 1 against a far worse opponent. Peppers, Melton looked good. Briggs had a nice game. Secondary did a damn good job. I don't know what's gotten into Tim Jennings but I LOVE IT.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 13, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) The best thing I can say is that you'll get over it. I was in a huge rut when I came home from school, I missed everything about Carbondale but I started to meet a ton of new people and become close again with my high school friends. It's been 2 years since I've been back from school and I'm having a better time now then I ever had down there. You'll be fine. I'll get over it eventually, but I live in a s***ty neighborhood and most of the friends I had from my hood have done nothing with their lives and I don't really have the desire to be around them. Plus, working 14+ hours a day all summer limited any time I had for social gatherings. It's odd, because I was sad when I left school and was in a rut but I got over it after a couple months and started working. Then it turned out that I was miserable at my job in which I worked way too much, so it just piled on top. I move to Rockford tomorrow, so I'm hoping for a fresh start.
  6. Horrible decision by Cutler. Bennett never came back to the ball. Ugh.
  7. This game makes me want to f***ing harm someone.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) Battle Scars is good. Lamborghini Angels is decent, but the content kind of makes me cringe, and not want to sing outloud. Ha. Oh also, I LOVE the content in b**** Bad, but the flow in that song is a little weird and kind of hard to listen to. It's more of him talking with music playing behind it, but I love the message. Yeah, I agree. He definitely goes deep in this album, from what I have heard of it so far. He's never been a real sing-along type guy anyway. The Show Goes On wasn't even his song, the record label forced it on him, and, sadly, it's his biggest hit to date. And b**** Bad is simply his lyrical abilities on display.
  9. This is from another teach friend of mine (but who does not work for CPS and is not on strike): "I eat, breath, and sleep teaching. Love that i'm living my dream but I'm physically and mentally exhausted. Thinking of just moving into my classroom since I don't leave until 5:30 anyways. The sad life of a first year teacher." 5:30!?!?!? Wow. That must be rough.
  10. Well, the good news is that we'll see Adam Clendening and Klas Dahlbeck make their pro debuts in Rockford. The blue line for the Ice Hogs should be stupid good with Olsen, Stanton, Clendening, Dahlbeck, Lavin, Lalonde and Youds.
  11. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Yesterday I broke my foot, the first broken bone I've ever had. I stepped in a pot hole and rolled my ankle, putting all my weight on the side of my left foot which broke my 5th metatarsal. I'm pretty bummed because today I was going to start volleyball, which won't happen, and it'll also put an end to my softball season. I was told I won't be able to put much pressure on it for 4 weeks. What I'm wondering is, has anyone had this injury before? And if you have, how long did it take to recover? I love doing p90x and running along with playing sports, so it's going to be incredibly annoying not being able to be active! Let Ab Ripper X become your best friend. You can still be active without having to be on your feet.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 9, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) Also, new Big Sean mixtape "Detroit" is pretty good. Detroit is awesome. First half is ok, but the second half is great. And all the tracks I've hear so far from Lupe's new album are great. The "Battle Scars" song with Guy Sebastian is amazing.
  13. I know we've had wristwatch discussions on here before, but jomashop.com has incredible deals going on. I just bought two Seiko watches at about 75% off.
  14. An hour ago, on my facebook page, FROM A TEACHER: "You have got it ENTIRELY WRONG... WE did not walk out on the students.. I know your an educated young man but you need to educate on the real issues before you start making comments to which you are not educated on.." My response: "I keep being told I'm not educated, yet no one seems to have the desire to actually educate anyone on the matter."
  15. Serbia hung 6 on Wales today. Very nice result after the scoreless draw vs Scotland.
  16. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) If you're coming to Rockford, check out Forest Hills Lanes. They have sand volleyball leagues, softball leagues, kickball leagues in addition to the aforementioned bowling. I'll definitely have to check this out. Thanks for the heads up. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 04:41 PM) Good point. I feel that as I get older, I'm not really looking for a lot of new friends, I'm looking to strengthen relationships with existing friends - and spend the time available with them. I don't have kids like you but I can only imagine your time is very limited for spending with people outside your family anyway. It's easier to have a lot of acquaintances with email et al like you said, and then just a smaller group of friends. Yeah, I'm not sure yet how I'll react when I get to Rockford. I'll have a lot of co-workers who are in the same boat as me, so I'll try to build on that. But I agree with you, I have a great core of friends, the problem is that they are so spread out since we left college. I'm in Illinois, some are in Michigan, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, all over. It's frustrating.
  17. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 11, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) So I'm right. Thanks. The fact that they're walking out is such a red herring. Are conservatives here enraged because 1) they're walking out on students or 2) people are using their rights to unionize, collectively bargain and strike? If you say number one, you're full of s***. Full stop. I don't know who you think I am, or what you think I am, but I don't give a flying f*** about conservatives, liberals, or politics in general. I don't vote. I'm not going to vote. So don't pin me into one group or another. I think for my damn self. I don't have political alignments. And if I had students in the CPS system, and their teachers walked out, I'd be f***ing pissed. Period. Get the f*** out of here with that conservative bs because I don't give a s***.
  18. My college withdrawals are at an all-time high. It took about 10 months for me to hit the bottom. I miss my friends so much. I'm struggling bad right now.
  19. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) Wow, a different champ at each Open kind of cool.....Glad Murray ended the season strong with the Olympics and US Open win... Hopefully next year Nadal is completely healthy and we can get some great matches. I definitely missed having Nadal out there for the last couple months.
  20. Ravens D/ST and Rice got me 40 points combined. I need 30 or less from Rivers and Meachum to win.
  21. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) That's the average salary, which indicates the teacher has worked 14 years. Also, why didn't you bother trying to refute the second part of my post? Lastly, I've been trying to find the 16% pay increase proposal from the City of Chicago and not a newspaper article. Anyone got it? Sorry, I really just can't find it. It's probably a moot point since it seems that the unions have agreed to it. Thanks. I don't think your second point is worth arguing. That's not a stance you can sway someone on. In a world where companies are downsizing and people are taking paycuts, teachers, as always, are asking for more. Why don't you both to refute the fact that they are walking out on their students?
  22. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 07:51 PM) This post is indicative of how clueless some people are. Instead of going, "Wow, I wish I had the right to organize so I could have decent pay" you're basically saying that everyone should be pathetic and miserable like you. I also love how that ChicagoNow post compares the average teacher salary with the median Chicagoan's income. If you don't see the problem in that comparison, you probably shouldn't be in this thread at all. Dude, give me a break. $76,000 to work nine months out of the year. AND they're walking out on the kids they are supposedly fighting for.
  23. I'm pissed. "I gave it my all" Yeah, sure you did, Nole.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 10, 2012 -> 03:06 PM) lol. EXACTLY
