  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 10:31 PM) Please explain. Don't crucify the guys who have gotten caught, because they are simply the unlucky/careless ones.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) Hats off to those Sox fans who follow what going on in the minors. To me that's a fan who is "all in". How do you get your knowledge of what's going on? Do you listen to games? Only look at the box scores? Do any of you live where they play? Only if they had an idiot's guide to following your team's farm system. milb.com is your friend. I'll check box scores and stats of the top guys about once a week. I work in baseball too, so it's easy to hear stuff from guys in various leagues.
  3. There are a lot of very naive people in this thread, sadly.
  4. Now that the season is over, I have a couple weeks until hockey starts to get back to it. Planning on doing two-a-days for a while and get back to my old diet.

    The Pet Thread

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 04:21 PM) Forgive me, I'm terrible with dogs -- what breed is that? Or a mix of something? We're trying to figure it out ourselves. His mom was a purebred golden retriever. We're waiting to find out from the vet what the dad was. Some sort of mix of awesomeness. This is him today, growing really quick: http://t.co/QEKXwRnL
  8. Took some ibuprofen and the swelling went down within an hour or so. Really weird. Maybe I touched something and then bit my fingernail or something. Who knows.
  9. You're all wrong. Sorry. The answer was best movie of all time. Tony Danza, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Danny Glover, Tony Danza, Matthew McConaughey, Adrien Brody, Christopher Lloyd, Dermot Mulroney, Tony Danza
  10. Angels in the Outfield... Best baseball movie of all time? OR Best movie of all time?
  11. My bottom lip just got really swollen on he left side for no reason. This is weird. Allergic reaction to something?
  12. Barnum returned AUG 4 after being out since June 23rd. In 13 games at Bristol: .279/.347/.512 for a .859 OPS. 3 HR, 8 RBI, 2B, 13 K, 5 BB.
  13. Snodgress was promoted up to Advanced A Winston Salem in late July. He is 4-0 in 5 starts with a 2.12 ERA (7 ER). He has struck out 28 while walking 9 in 29.2 innings. Has gone 6.0, 6.0, 5.2, 6.0, and 6.0 innings in his starts. Opponents are hitting .168 against him.
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 09:10 PM) I had the volume down on the mlb.tv broadcast because I needed to have the volume up on the Weather Channel on TV because we were getting very severe storms at the time, so I saw that there was some kind of delay but didn't know what it was. Is there any confirmation that the guy actually died? Just saw that he was announced dead at the hospital.
  15. The man who collapsed at the game tonight was announced dead at the hospital. Sad and unfortunate. Prayers go out to his family.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 02:04 PM) College sports. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 01:39 PM) The atmosphere in stadiums in the US also doesn't compare at all to the atmosphere in the rest of the world at pro sporting events. The OKC Thunder are the only pro team I can think of in the US that has an absolutely nutty atmosphere during the entirety of their games.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 12:26 PM) Don't forget about Dodgers fans in that group. It does put into perspective how tame US sporting events are. Which turns out to be a very good thing in the long run. The atmosphere in stadiums in the US also doesn't compare at all to the atmosphere in the rest of the world at pro sporting events. The OKC Thunder are the only pro team I can think of in the US that has an absolutely nutty atmosphere during the entirety of their games.

    Job Hunt Thread

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 02:43 PM) Had my first real job(post college) interview a couple weeks back thought it went well. My friend said the person has been on vacation this week and I should do a follow up call tomorrow when he is back. I sent him an email a couple days after thanking him for the time etc., what exactly do you say in a phonecall? I've always been told to be very specific. Don't call and say "So........hey, what's up?" Be confident, let them know you are still interested in the position, and ask for a timetable of their decision.
  19. My sister is going off to college tomorrow. I remember walking her ass to kindergarten. Time flies.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 12:48 PM) Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think anyone who believes TDKR is the best movie ever made is either overrating it due to a recency bias or has a complete different definition of greatness than me. And I would never rule out a super-hero movie being the best of all-time. There were just too many things that bothered me througout the movie. Bane could have been an all-time great villian, but they didn't give him much of a back-story and basically turned him to another goon by the end of the film. And while I thought Catwoman was interpreted well, her series of interactions with Batman were beyond ridiculous. I wish I would have kept a list of all the other thing that bothered me. IMO, there were way too many obvious flaws for it to gain any consideration for the best movie of all-time. Again, just my opinion. WHAT!?!?!?
