  1. They have to at this point. If they miss on both of those two, then the entire rebuild was a sick joke.
  2. Could both be correct?
  3. Yeah, I thought Avi was a likely dumpster dive option in RF.
  4. If Avi is getting 4/53 that pushes Schwarber into the $80M range and Conforto into 9 figures imo.
  5. Yep, I'll take the L on that one. I guess Semien wanted the years.
  6. Will be interesting to see if he got the $200M that I thought he would. Why else would he sign with the Rangers? Scott Boras is great at his job.
  7. Robert is great, but even the best can't cover that much ground.
  8. Not that it applies to anyone on the Sox-Are 10-5 rights still a thing?
  9. Mike Hawk.........riiiiight. Is there a buddy of his on Twitter named Mike Hunt? Kinda like Al and Portillo.
  10. Ray is a huge gamble, but if they hit the jackpot and his walk issues have been fixed......it's probably the best chance since Wheeler for them to get an affordable ace quality pitcher. There is more risk with Ray than there was with Wheeler though. That being said, Ray had an absurd 90.1% strand rate this year as well as a FIP~ 0.8 runs higher than his ERA.
  11. Also prime Robinson Cano on the juice.
  12. Grandal and Hendriks were both top of the market, impact players at their position. I disagree with them spending top dollar at catcher and closer, but I'll take what I can get. And the Sox absolutely needed a catcher when Grandal was signed.
  13. I'm not talking about this offseason, I'm talking historically. Even during the 2000-2008 run they'd do the same damn thing. They're way too risk averse.
  14. If we're using that logic, then Kimbrel isn't a buy at his peak deal either.
  15. Oh they spend....I just hate their strategy. I'd rather them spend in FA for actual impact players rather than throwing around mid-range contracts for guys like Keuchel and Graveman.
  16. They haven't been in a position to buy top relievers in a decade.
  17. They gave him a pretty big contract for a reliever at the time. I get your point though.
  18. When the Sox signed him, it was......
  19. Was still the same braintrust and I think he was 2008.
  20. Going back? Linebrink and Kimbrel just off the top of my head.
  21. No thanks. Don't like the contact issues.
  22. I don't like sinker ballers for this reason. They're overly reliant on the BABIP gods. We saw this with Bummer early in the season, before his slider became a reliable whiff pitch.
  23. We all would but that's not realistic.
