  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) What's his status now? Is he even under contract? Tell me more about his background and what he's been up to? I mean, I can't imagine Thibs could fix a guy like Eddy Curry who couldn't keep his weight under control, but the Bulls are in need of a cheap backup big guy, maybe more than 1. He played for OKC this year...11mpg 2.4pts 3 rebounds and a block a game. 7'3" with a 7'6" wingspan that if Thibs can get to play sound defense he could be an asset to this team....At the very least be a taller version of Asik.
  2. I know this is off topic, and it may be something I get flamed for (not for being off topic but for him being "awful") but...Am I the only one interested to see what Thibs can do with Hasheem Thabeet? Thibs'll fix em right?
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2013 -> 01:13 PM) I absolutely would. Eventually teams that finish 2nd or 3rd get lucky and hit the wild card. Exactly. What would people be willing to pay Shin Soo Choo? I'd love to see him at the top of the lineup. Choo and Morales is my "dream" offseason. Hope that Beckham or Ramirez can be competent in the 2 hole then role with a Choo-Beckham-Rios-Morales-Viciedo-Dunn-Ramirez-Gillaspie-Phegley/Flowers/? lineup for next year.
  4. Id rather have Choo at around the same money if he hits the market.
  5. Serious question...Is Carlos Lee retired? Would he come back to platoon with Dunn? Near vet minimum? Would it even be worth it at his age? He was awful last year but the year before he batted .348 with a 1.028 OPS against LHP.... It'd also be nice to let him finish his career where it started. He very well could be done and sitting at home getting all out of shape.
  6. With the Indians and Rangers losing already if the Sox win today they will be tied for the best AL record in the month of May...Not that it matters at all I just thought it'd be nice to point out with all the doom and gloom that even now is still around.
  7. WWE signed Samuray Del Sol...Another talented cruiserweight that will probably get wasted. I really wish they would ditch one of the 2 mid card belts and bring back the Cruiserweight title. They have so much exciting talent to build that division with guys like Del Sol, Kidd, Gabriel, Generico, Nevile, Bourne, Kingston, Sin Cara, and Mysterio(?).
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 27, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) General terms again, Dick Allen. Which "bats" this offseason? You prefer taking on contracts like the Jays, how's that working out?? ROFL! Kendrys Morales would make A TON of sense but you've already shot down that idea for whatever reason. Though I doubt Cincy lets him go I would love Shin-Soo Choo as well(To replace De Aza). With those 2 signings you help the top and middle of the lineup. Both guys have 3-4 more good years in them IMO and by that point hopefully something comes out of the minors.
  9. I've always been known to be quite the homer on this board (remember the "this is real" post??) so this may just be that side of me speaking but I really see no reason to think about rebuilding. Especially after the last month where the Sox have the 3rd best record in the AL, just 1 game behind the Indians and .5 games behind the Rangers in that time frame. If PK or Dunn can step up and have sustained success then I see a good enough offense with this pitching to potentially sneak into the playoffs. Gordon was looking pretty good the little bit we saw of him and if he can keep that up I'd really like to see him get put into the 2 hole. Move Lexi down in the order behind Conor and Tank to hopefully give him more opportunities to drive in some runs. Average wise he's been a much better hitter with runners on than with the bases empty. That said if ADA continues to struggle then a lead off hitter is what I'd be looking to acquire around the deadline if possible. Put it this way, I think our offense can be better than the 2010/2012 Giants and you see what they did with that pitching staff.
  10. Any Gallows fans here? Pretty bummed that Frank Carter went soft on his new side project Pure Love. Hope this doesn't lead to a Rise Against like change for him, and by that I mean I really, really loved The Killing Tree which was Tim Mcllraths hardcore band before Rise Against. Speaking of former post hardcore guys that have gone "soft"...Frank Turner, who was reviewed by flaphship, had a pretty dope post hardcore band before he went solo...Check out Million Dead.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 24, 2013 -> 10:16 AM) Zoom's 2013 NBA Mock Draft version 1.0 Good read zoom. I would love the Bulluck pick....Just an FYI, you might wanna edit the Kelly Olynyk pick. You put down that he went to college at Indiana.
  12. I posted a question in the league but I'm not sure if this is a better place to ask it so I'll do it in both. Do FA pickups count towards our keepers? How would that work with the draft next year?
  13. I'm surprised Beckham playing SS isn't being talked about more.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2013 -> 09:41 PM) Not at all...95 pitches, 51 strikes. 4 walks in 4.2 innings. I'm not sure if this sort of thing happens in minor league rehab games, but is it possible he was just working on a pitch like pitchers do in spring training?
  15. It would also clear the paint for Noah. Love would be a huge for the Bulls, but it's nothing more than a pipe dream.
  16. Wasn't Hinrich supposed to be the starting 2 guard when Rose came back? If they can swing a deal for Love involving Deng would you guys be ok with a Rose-Hinrich-Butler-Love-Noah starting 5? I know Love is a pipe dream but he was brought up so I went with it.
  17. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 15, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) Might be time to move DV ahead of PK in the order. Probably put Gillaspie ahead of him vs RHP as well. I was just about to type this. A 2 through 5 of Lexi-Rios-(this version of)Dunn-Viciedo is probably our best order to generate some offense.
  18. QUOTE (onedude @ May 14, 2013 -> 06:12 PM) What channel? Z U
  19. Sox linked to Dominican Slugger From the little info I can find on him he sounds like a Viciedo clone. Struggles with contact, dirty pop, and an extreme pull hitter. No clue how old he is. Can anyone find more info on the guy? I'm kind of intrigued. (Not sure if this should be in Future Sox, if so then mods, do what you do.)
  20. This is actually pretty awesome, esp. for it being 2 kids doing it.
  21. it's May 12th guys, the weather has yet to even really heat up. With the pitching we have and the fact that we're ONLY 6 games out I don't see why we can't compete this year. We probably don't have enough to actually catch the Tigers but I can certainly see us being competitive this year. We've seen Lexi carry this team at times, Dayan has the potential to get hot and carry the team, Beckham coming back could be a positive thing, Dunn has shown signs of light lately, and hopefully PK starts to turn it around at some point. If we can swing a trade at some point for a quality catcher I think we can be an above .500 team.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) So, is Scott Kazmir "back"? Has he been throwing that mid 90s Fb the last few years? He certainly looked sharp.
  23. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/...5247,full.story Not sure what to make of this but it looks like B. Marshall has been hanging out at a house described as "a place NFL pros go "if they want to step out on their girlfriends and their wives ... outside of anywhere else where media might catch them."...Said house may also have "high-quantity drug deals" transacted there. The house is also connected to a shooting (Tyrone Mosby trial). Marshall doesn't appear to be in any kind of legal trouble. I'm tired and somewhat intoxicated and haven't read that whole article so if someone else wants to elaborate on more of what's going, please do.
