  1. What was Sale looking at/tipping his hat to? He looked back towards the OF a few times that last AB.
  2. Yikes, I did indeed miss that part. I apologize.....Still though, it happened just once so you saying it happened every time is still a little silly. Saying you would have brought in Snodgress is equally silly. A Loogy at best vs Kinsler/Hunter/Cabrera? yaaa.
  3. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) What caveat did I add? That was my statement all along. Quit being a douchebag and claiming I said things I didn't. The facts support what I said. You added the caveat of "in games where he pitched more than 1 inning". Your original statement was.... No where did you say "in games where he pitched more than 1 inning" which again would be silly because that situation happened a grand total of 1 time.
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 10:24 PM) ha you guys are upset about this game? just forget it it was a good game and Detroit won. The Sox are playing decent baseball, way better than to close last year. I'm not upset, I'm just over here feeding the troll, he's hungry.
  5. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 10:10 PM) He pitched one inning in the first appearance every case. My facts never lie. He has never come back all season without rest after pitching more than 1 inning and had success. Ha now you add that caveat ......With that added caveat you're right but it also only happened 1 damn time so it's not like there's a trend there for RV to go off of....You're still bein ridiculous.
  6. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 09:51 PM) I would have taken my chances with Snodgrass tonight over Petricka. After pitching more than 1 inning, Petricka has not come back a single time this year without rest where he has been effective. He's given up at least one run in this situation every time. The manager has to know his staff and know that this move was stupid tonight. The troll is weak in this one.... Sept. 10 1 IP no hits 0 runs Sept. 11 1 IP 1 hit 0 runs Aug. 30 1 IP 1 hit 0 runs Aug 31 1 IP no hits 0 runs Aug 19 1 IP no hits 0 runs Aug 20 1 IP 1 hit 0 runs July 5 1/3 IP no hits no runs July 6 2 IP no hits no runs Jun 24 1IP no hits no runs Jun 25 2 IP 1 hit no runs May 26 1 IP no hits no runs May 27 2 IP 1 hit no runs May 19 2/3 IP no runs no hits May 20 1 IP no hits no runs May 21 2/3 IP no runs no hits April 29 1IP no runs no hits April 30 2.1 IP no runs no hits And really you say Snodgress??? You're not even a good troll. Actually I take that back youre a great troll because here I am feeding you.
  7. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 09:39 PM) The fact that we have a bonehead for a manager should anger every Sox fan. Take the 30 games we have lost this year solely because of him and convert them to wins. Do this and we would have clinched 10 days ago instead of playing spoiler at this point in the season. I know you're trollin but c'mon man...At least try and make your trollin a little realistic. A 100+ win team with a 3-4-5 of Danks-Noesi/Carroll/EJ/Rienzo/Paulino and this bullpen??!! Lmao....I'm only responding because I'm slightly intoxicated. andddddd Greg said it was a fair point??!! Dios mio.
  8. C'mon fellas, Petricka, just like most every other bullpen arm in the big leagues, has pitched back to back games many a times. This isn't some "bonehead" Robin move.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 05:09 PM) Again, we gain SO much more to gain by having guys like Garcia and Bassitt taking big steps forward, then we do from moving up a couple of draft spots. The one caveat I wills say is that I don't want them go finish any better than 10th worst, as it could really limit this off season. That's pretty much my view as well. Though sans maybe VMart there's not really a guy I want who's more than likely gonna get a QO so I'm not real concerned about that either.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 01:34 PM) Because our defense in the outfield has been terrible this entire season outside of Eaton. I'm aware but I think the Sox look to add a DH and a LFer, only 1 really has to be lefthanded. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) But they're also not going to be desperate to cut payroll if they actually do trade Tulo and CarGo this offseason. They would kind of have to be bowled over. That said, there's also a lowered incentive to keep an aging veteran coming off a career rebirth/renaissance season if there's little or no thought to competing in 2015. This would also put Michael Cuddyer in play as a possible DH (if they won't give up Morneau) who could be paired with a left-handed OFer. You missed the part where they wanna move Rosario to 1B. It's not about shedding payroll for them, it's about Rosarios inability to catch.
  11. I've been down on Semien a bit offensively, but if the Sox can get a haul for Lexi then I think he'd be the everyday SS. I wouldn't hate to see what Semien could do with everyday ABs to try and prove my "fears" wrong about him at the dish. Leury would not be the starting SS.
  12. Just don't let him start against garbage teams and he'll be gravy...Still so weird that dude has been rocked by truly dreadful teams like Houston, Texas, and Minny, while having a 3.40 ERA in 153 innings against teams other than those 3. Just like Dunn being able to destroy good pitching but being awful against awful pitching....
  13. Not sure why it HAS to be an OFer, and with that said, the guy I have my eye on is Justin Morneau. Rockies wanna move Rosario to 1B which makes Justin available.
  14. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 12:12 PM) Sorry but the Sox only have 30-35M to spend which will not be enough to sign a big named starter, sign a lefty bat and bring in a proven closer. All three of those will be very costly. We really don't know that for sure. Rock has said in the past that when the Sox are ready to compete the payroll will be $100+. Right now pre arbitration the payroll is 43.8. Arbitration wise I can't imagine it being much more that 15M if they bring back Noesi, Tank, Flowers, and Jones. So IF there are guys they like to spend it on, and by that I mean they won't just spend money to spend money, it's possible they can be adding ~50M. I really don't think money will be an issue this offseason.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 11:29 AM) How could I have forgotten the most obvious one? MOST OBVIOUS DO ON THE PLANET 1) Sign Adam Dunn to 735 year, $1,000,000,000,000 contract Wouldn't that be blowing the load though? Which was one of your don'ts? Cutting out 3 of those zeros seems much more reasonable.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 23, 2014 -> 11:17 AM) He's got a chance to do that. And yeah, he's had his fair share of awful starts, but it's not like those don't count. They do, but I'll take a 4/5 starter who gets rocked in 5 or 6 of 30 starts and pitches close to a #3 for the other 24 or 25 starts all day....Only thing that sucks about Danks is his salary which is why I said I'd be open to trading him.
  17. Perhaps it's because I really don't know much about FIP and all that jazz, but I still think John can be a quality starter for us next year. I'd trade him if they get the oppertunity to do so without paying an arm and a leg, but I don't see the need to do a straight up salary dump where they pay 50%+ and get nothing in return. His numbers look awful because of a few truly dreadful games, but for the most part he's been able to keep the team in it for most games. Whereas a guy like Edwin Jackson, who some here wanna swap (I know it comes with the caveat of working with Coop again), has consistently been trash.
  18. Pirates GM Neal Huntington:"We are going to try to do everything we can to keep Russ. We’d love nothing more than to have (Martin) in a Pirates uniform (Martin) is a unique circumstance where we got beat up for singing him & if he does (leave), we are going to get highly criticized" I'd love Martin, but I'd be shocked if he's not a Pirate next year. I'm ok with trading Lexi as long as the package includes at least 1 guy who's gonna contribute at the ML level. I really think the Sox can compete as early as next year so I'm not interested in trading him for a bunch of minor leaguers. I've been high on VMart and if they can get him for 2 year with an option for a 3rd I'd do it all day. I can really care less about the inability to have a rotating DH. You have a rotating DH when you don't have a good DH. I think VMart has at least 2 good years in em.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) I will be stunned if Petricka closes this out.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 22, 2014 -> 05:00 PM) All depends on the price tag. Most importantly...the years. Ya, if they can get him on a 2 year contract with some options, it's a no brainer to me. Money I'm not too concerned about because I think if they can land him it's gonna be "All in part deux" and we'll see the payroll back up over 100M. I'm really hoping that the Tigers feel the need to DH Miggy so they don't even give Victor a QO. I'd give up a 2R pick in a heart beat but it'd be nice to keep it.
  21. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 22, 2014 -> 01:32 PM) They can only deal with the talent given them. I don't think anyone's blaming Ventura for defense...except for the consistent lollygagging that was seen out of some players. Managers can make proper lineup decisions, bullpen decisions, strategic decisions, and handle the clubhouse properly so that the team plays hard. Manager is very important. One person wants to compare Ventura to Madden; the next to a 2X WS champion manager. For some reason people hold Ventura up as some White Sox icon above all critique. And much like DA wasn't trying to compare Robin and Madden, I wasn't really trying to compare Robin and Francona....You may not have blamed him for the defense but others sure have made it seem like he's part of the problem. So I was simply pointing out that even guys perceived as a good managers have teams who are awful defensively. They're important to an extent, but as crazy as it sounds I still agree with what Hawk said last year about any ol fan being able to coach a team.
  22. The hell does Brock do if Cena feuds with Rollins? Perhaps we see a 3 way dance??
  23. Gah, this week makes me wish I still smoked pot.....Lost out on some serious coin by 2nd guessing myself...lost by 30 in my pay league to a guy who started Peterson and Aaron Rodgers...and overall finished 0-4.
