QUOTE (Saufley @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:57 AM) I thought that yesterday things were looking up when raBBit posted but, now I feel like I'm floating in a no gravity zone. Don't know which way is up. If you want encouragement, go back and reread the Abreu coming to America thread. Then read the Frazier thread. I have not reviewed either, but definitely recall a roller coaster conversation for at least parts of both and it got a lot worse as the actual deal approached. The hyperbole and desperation also became unbearable and even the smartest posters started either trolling/baiting, or legitimately spewing vitriol. Whether or not the Sox get Cespedes, understand we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes. Even beyond the random blogger/twitter whore, there are all kinds of people with an agenda feeding false information to the masses and it happens all the time.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) We all fought in that epic war And it wasn't long at all before Little Hotshot flew his plane and saved the day And in the end some Gungans died. Some ships blew up And some pilots fried.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) Am I absolutely lost at this point. There is some weird stuff going on in the White Sox media right now. I will say that. Care to elaborate, or is it the same twitter stuff referenced regarding the Sox game attendance over the past few pages of this thread?

FYI, the slot is still open. If you are only interested in 5 games, I could handle that as well. I am just struggling to make games with 3 kids in the heat of activities now. So every little bit helps. Thanks also RaBBit for the seat endorsement. Also forgot to mention that a full share (10 games, 2 seats per game) is $981.50, or $98.15 per game. Obviously, that amount is cut in half for just 5 games. However you slice it, it is good money, but not bad for a pair up close to the action.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 05:17 AM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...112-column.html "He got the job because he's really a good broadcaster, not because of the side stories," Brooks Boyer, the White Sox chief marketing officer, said. "What stands out is his ability to broadcast a game." Have not read this entire thread or the article itself, but is there any hidden meaning behind this statement? Sound like it could be a veiled indictment of Hawk's style.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) Ding, Ding Ding! Which of the brothers Upton has the reputation of being a high talent, low work ethic dog? I know I have heard it, but for some reason can not recall if it is Justin or Melvin. I tried a search but each is maligned for various reasons.

I split a full package every year with a group of guys. Ideally we have 8 people that each take 10 games but have also done a few limited 5 game half shares from time to time. We do a fantasy football type snake draft before the season (via call for convenience and then I email the tix electronically). I think people have been pretty pleased with the results each year (this is our 11th year). Anyway, we have one open slot that I would love to fill. Last year's seats were in Section 130, Row 18, non-aisle. Some guys expressed a preference to move to the aisle so we may move to Section 129, Row 26. Here is a link to the seating chart to check out the general views (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/ballpark/cws_ballpark_seating.jsp). PM me if you are interested or have questions. Thanks.

1/2 way to St Pats Flat Cap or Alexei Bobblehead
Pants Rowland replied to jasonxctf's topic in The Ticket Exchange
I have one of those caps as well if anyone wants one. I work in the loop and would give it to you for cheap. Not sure what "for cheap" really means but $10 seems like it might fit the bill. -
It's off wiki now.

QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 01:53 PM) As a Sox fan, screw Torii Hunter for multiple reasons... Agreed. I have softened on pretty much every sports rivalry and the vitriol they can bring out in us fans. I don't care about the Pistons, Cubs, Packers, even the Twins. However, to this day I want a Sox flamethrower to put one right in Torii's earhole for what he did to Jamie Burke. He never has received retribution.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 01:21 PM) Lots of mis-direction and smoke/mirrors lately. Looks like alot of posturing is happening with teams and free agents. "No truth," Alex Gordon said in response to a recent story that he had no chance of signing a new contract with the Kansas City Royals." http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/kids...654e57b745.html Sounds frighteningly similar to the response Torii Hunter gave when all reports were he was about to sign with the Sox a few years back and then the Angels swooped in and got him.

Trade Quintana and Eaton to the Cubs???
Pants Rowland replied to bear_brian's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was talking to a bunch of cubs fans last night. Just to test the waters, i threw out a random trade proposal of "as cubs fans, would you trade Shwarber for Rodon straight up?" Responding "No" all around. Am I nuts to think they are nuts? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2015 -> 07:00 AM) greg is pretty much the Donald Trump of Soxtalk. He probably doesn't believe 90% of what he posts. I am glad I am not on an island with respect to Greg being a troll. He has convinced way too many posters he is the real deal over the past couple years.

http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/top...n-recruit-dies/ The baseball world lost a promising prospect Thursday evening. A recent graduate of Westmont HS, Charlie was a likely low first round to mid second round selection in MLB draft last year, but opted to commit to the University of Michigan instead. He was a role model to the community in every sense of the word and comes from an outstanding family. The line at last night's visitation was a testament to this fact. Services were this morning near his family's home. Deepest sympathy and thoughts go out to the family at this difficult time.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 26, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) Wasn't that Jamie Burke? Worst part about it was he just took it and didn't retaliate in any way. Kind of tough for Burke to retaliate from that considering he was a sitting duck waiting for the throw. He ended up in the hospital for observations and had a mild concussion (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1847744). The problem wasn't whether or not Burke should have retaliated from the fetal position, but more that Hunter should have received a fastball in the ear hole in his next at bat.

Juan Uribe has been added to the Mets world series roster
Pants Rowland replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That settles it. I am cheering for the Mets this series. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) At least he has a batting average for exciting seasons. Look at Ricketts, he's like 0-6. The press was praising him yesterday. Don't they realize not ever having a lead in the NLCS makes your entire season dull. He should sell. I am going to channel my inner Greg here and say that while the Chairman has weathered many a proclaimed death notice of his team and franchise, the Ricketts' ownership and competence is a real thing and will not likely go the way of Wood, Prior, Baker, Frey, Zimmer, etc. If they continue to build the strong scouting, drafting, development foundation, I do believe it really will take a toll on the Sox and their local relevance over the long term. I feel the White Sox franchise needs a fresh mindset and would love to see Reinsdorf fade in his role of CEO. I know the fraternity of MLB owners would be tough to crack, but Mark Cuban or someone of his ilk would be a welcome owner to tackle such a task. I think the market size of Chicago could be enticing enough to get a name like that to come in, especially since he already swung and missed on buying the Cubs.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 10:05 AM) You missed the joke entirely. I told you it was 15-20 years ago, so I am clearly getting old and losing my mind a bit.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) In their defense the W flag was very lightly used before this year and did appear to be brand new. I agree only from a marketing perspective. However, I lived at Waveland and Wilton 15-20 years ago. They were using both the white background/blue letter W and inverse blue background/white letter L flags back then and I think it even predated that time frame. A few years later, they dumped the L flag since it had a negative connotation and would only fly a flag if the Cubs won. You would even sometimes see vendors outside Sox games selling navy blue t-shirts with a white "L" in the middle of it. The "W" flag has definitely been used consistently at Wrigley Field for some time but people more recently decided to market it as something they could sell as smaller versions and shirts for home. Add the #flytheW crap and it took off.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) According to my dad, AM 1000 is talking Sale and Quintana for Schwarber. Just Schwarber. But, who is picking up the cab fare?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) Gee, maybe the website should be called Sox Silence. Get a ruler and measure 25-50 of your posts. Then do the same thing with a few of the people that post more frequently here. On average, I think you will find yours to be significantly longer. With that said, when you don't post an entire conversation with yourself all in one comment, your thoughts can be engaging and lucid. But, when I have to read you go back and forth with point-counterpoint-point-counterpoint, analyzing 17 different players all in one post, I glaze over and move on. Throwing multiple piles of s*** against a wall to see if any stick frequently only stinks up a room. You really do seem like a good guy, but please do some self editing sometimes.
