  1. You forgot about the 13-3 Bears team in 2001 that got dismantled by the Eagles at Soldier Field. Injured Bears littered the field throughout that game.
  2. Thanks for that take. I had never heard this before and it is a much better theory than "Ventura sucks," "He never wanted the job," etc. I think anyone 30+ has taken a job they did not necessarily want but convinced themselves it was the right thing at the time. I also think many well regarded people are smart enough to say "no" at first. There are so many success stories that start with a rejection only to be convinced later and it works out great. Ventura is not one of them, but it gets so tiresome to hear sometimes.
  3. All this talk of awful managers and NO ONE mentions Terry Bevington?! Am I just showing my age now?
  4. For years, I have found GRF concessions to be particularly inefficient with respect to food along the exterior of the continuous concourse. The primary kiosks (polish, kosher, beer, etc.) seem to have a simple formula that works and keeps lines moving (Bun, sausage, onions/kraut?, drink?, condiments over there, next). However, the outer concourse ring is hampered either by poor layout that can not be modified (maybe due to original design or fire code), or are just lacking in better assembly line planning and training. Increasing staff at these spots also appears counterproductive as they frequently bump into each other going to the same steam table, soda fountain, tap, or ice cream machine. I strongly think they could improve this with training, process changes, or maybe limiting choices per window, but it doesn't seem to be their priority for some reason.
  5. Jan-Michael Vincent, 73. I used to love to watch Airwolf with my old man.
  6. This almost made me smile as much as the Black Betty/Pam Ballam meme.
  7. As we say, Hyesa Mehsah!
  8. Congratulations, Bart Simpson: you're our new Fallout Boy! ... ... That's what I'd be saying to you if you weren't an inch too short. Next!
  9. And that is why he just joined Greg on my list of ignored posters. Word vomit is an understatement.
  10. I would agree, but their luck over the past few years would have had them winning today, too.
  11. I only saw on game tracker calling it a deep fly to RF. How close was it to out?
  12. I know this wasn't the spirit of the original post, but this thread made me think of this scene again. Peace.
  13. I approve this message
  14. Anyone else thing he's a bloviating jerk face?
  15. I was actually there. Had two season tickets but did not think I would make it due to a busy schedule. By the 5th inning I was in my car with my 4 year old speeding down the Ike from Oak Brook. We arrived around the 6th and got a spot somehow in the VIP area next to gate 1, got to our seats in RF about a half inning later. The ballpark was electric when Wise made that catch. At the end, everyone is going nuts and the usher in our section with her back to the field says to me, "Why are people going crazy? Just because they won?" My kid then asked "Did the Sox win, dad?" Great memories.
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 01:10 PM) It was written for a non-Sox audience but I do agree it was mostly "old news" for Sox fans. It is still encouraging to see a knowledgeable admitted White Sox hater break it all down and exhibit an admiration for what is being done here, even with the noted slip up of the Tatis trade. The guy seems to have done his homework.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 1, 2018 -> 10:04 AM) This has been in complete chaos this morning, and the meeting has now changed to a "listening session" so who knows what'll actually happen. but now it's back on and he announced tariffs. Strong and stable No White House chaos oh they got this all screwed up, let me fix that Strong and stable? No, White House chaos! Reminds me of that Lionel Hutz ad
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 1, 2018 -> 11:20 AM) So Ben Carson is returning the $31k dining set. I wonder if he will bring back the staffer transferred for calling them out on it. Shulkin and his lackies trying to hide taxpayers paying for his wife's European vacation. Scott Pruitt having to fly first class on the taxpayers. Interior secretary Ryan Zinke brings his wife along on military jets and private planes. All after Tom Price had to quit over basically doing the same thing. Trump drained the swamp and only hired the best. Kakistocracy - First used in the 17th century; derived from Greek, it means, literally, government by the worst and most unscrupulous people among us. More broadly, it can mean the most inept and cringeworthy kind of government. The term fell into disuse over the past century or more, and most highly informed people have never heard it before (but to kids familiar with the word “kaka” it might resonate). https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archiv...tocracy/542391/
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 03:07 PM) It just amazes me how much he gets away with. He is such a phony, but some people still buy everything he says even though the evidence shows he isn't about anybody but himself. And maybe Ivanka. And that's just because he wants to sleep with her.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 02:55 PM) He also looked like he soiled his pants that one time someone lunged at the stage at one of his rallies. I posted elsewhere too, but lest we forget his run in with the bald eagle... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/am...t-a6767501.html To be fair, we have a cockatiel and it freaks me out every time it lands on me, but I also don't claim to be some tough guy. This guy is a colossal sally.
  21. QUOTE (Quin @ Feb 26, 2018 -> 01:56 PM) Trump says he would have run into the high school even if he didn't have a gun. Any time trump talks tough and flexes his proxy muscle, I think of this image: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/am...t-a6767501.html
  22. I know I am coming in late, but if I may offer my opinion on arming school faculty... NO, NO, NO, f***ING NO! With due respect to all posters in this thread, please do not fall into the trap of DJT, the NRA, and any other fool that thinks more guns are the answer. This is a distraction to shape the dialogue in the aftermath of Parkland while making it appear they hear and are addressing community concerns. Please do not even entertain the merits of this comical (and tragic) idea. This country has too many guns, too great an access to guns, too big an obsession with guns, etc. We have abused and stretched the rights granted by the second amendment for far too long. It is time the citizens demand a real change in the national dialogue and our laws. Guns are the problem, not the solution.
