  1. I put yes because of percentage of team wins he preserved and the ceremony before last nights game was very special
  2. What a list. Did we pay to see that crap?

Gave Danks a C because we really expected nothing and got a good number of good starts early. Aardsma a C because of first month and lack of opportunity to turn it around when games meaningless.
  4. F for this year F for last year F for poor farm system He does not seem to be getting better at his job. Time for a change
  5. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) Wanting to win.... and knowing how to win are two different things. Bill Wirtz wanted to win but had no idea how to run a hockey team, especially these past years. The Hawks have spent money lately on the team.... just on the wrong players. Just as they did when Smith was the GM, when Murray was the GM, and throughout the entire time when Pulford has been involved. just my .02 And unfortunatly, Pulford is still involved.
  6. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) Perhaps, I do know that I said that when I was certain the Bears would do the smart thing and downgrade him to #3. EDIT: i had the disclaimer "unless Griese gets injured" on there, which actually takes most of the finality of the statement out of there. anyway, does everyone here realize that Brian Griese has the 17th best career QB rating of all time? just a little number that doesnt mean much but it means something. That rating was before he played for Ron Turner, and behind this offensive line, and before he threw towards #87
  7. There will never be harmony as long as someone cries racism at every ethnic comment. Every ethnic group has some type of heritage difference. Deal with it. Blacks are not immune to ethnic and cultural diffrerences, as are Irish, french, Germans Mexicans etc. Its unfortunate that his comment, meant to be a good thing, is used by race mongers the opposite way. Some day, race will be treated as another nationality, and all this crap goes away. That will be when hucksters like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and the Miss Black America pagent etc disappear.
  8. That will not be an easy game for Lance-its not a team of Free swingers-
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 10:58 AM) Welcome to 4th place; I see no way this team can compete with Richar, Owens, and Fields all in the lineup with Widge-knows who on the bench. If there's a spot on next year's roster for Jerry Owens - and part of me hopes there is - it better as hell be 4th outfielder and not in the starting lineup. If they were talking about competing next year in June, and then go with Jerry Owens in CF to open the year with about 5 or 6 solid options for the spot in the offseason, you are going to see a lot of pissed off fans, and the offseason will have been a failure (atleast in my eyes). The two key holes that need to be filled in the starting lineup are centerfield and shortstop, while the bench also needs work as well. More pitching never hurts, but the first 3, and especially the first 2, absolutely should be filled. I am sure I read almost the same post last off season. Too bad Williams didnt see it yet
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 12:35 PM) The game where Romo had hours to throw the ball 9 times out of 10. The only pressure I saw him avoid was Darwin Walker. There was little pressure-we put "paws" on him when he ran into our defense-D lineman had ONE tackle eack-thats pathetic
  11. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 09:09 AM) Here's what a wrote in an email to a group of friends this morning: Meh, typical s***ty Bears loss. I pretty much expected this to happen. However I do think that Rex gets too much of the blame. 1. IMO he threw one bad interception - the one returned for a touchdown. The first one he let go of the ball before the receiver broke. It was similiar to his pick in the Chargers game where the receiver didn't run to the spot he was supposed to run too. The last one wasn't a surprise, he was just throwing it up hoping to get something going. 2. Too many dropped passes. Rex threw some good balls but the receivers failed to bring them in. 3. Bensons "fumble" was costly - I think the last replay they showed proved it was not a fumble and that his knee was down. Terrible call. At least say the play stands because there is not conclusive visual evidence to overturn it. Apparently he saw the ball come out before the knee was down which is BS. 4. Defense - so much for that vaunted Bears D. You can't expect them to go a whole game against a good (if not great) offense, but the complete lack of changing defensive schemes really got to me. From the 2nd through the 4th quarter I think Dallas ran the ball a total of 4 times. They hit Owens and the TE on crossing routes about 25 times. How does that happen? Why did they just let them march down the field without changing up some plays? And where was the D-Line? Obviously the injuries (especially to Briggs) hurt, but come on. 5. Offensive play calling. Everyone knows Rex is not a Brett Favre who can make a play every down. Ok we get that - so why are we running the ball on first and second down, getting stuffed, and then being forced into a long 3rd down attempt? I think about 5 drives ended because the play calling was atrocious. It's clear that Rex has horrible mechanics when he's getting pressured. He's also really small compared to the two lines in front of him, which causes him to throw off his backfoot and hope the ball lands where it's supposed to land. When he had clear passing lanes the Bears O had some good success. So why not try to move him out of the pocket more? Why not more play action rollouts? 6. The running game. I was a big Benson believer at the end of last year. But man, if he doesn't crank it up then this team is screwed. 7. Romo - Five seasons, Grossman - 1.3 seasons Look, I'm not a Rex apologosit. I don't think he's a long-term answer and he's definitely not a franchise quarterback. But I do think he's good enough to help a superbowl caliber Bears D in winning a championship or two. I find it hilarious people want Griese in. No one remembers that guy took a two time superbowl champ team and had one decent year out of what, five seasons? Then he heads to Tampa Bay and Miami and gets cut. The rest of the NFL knows what Chicago fans apparently don't - he's not good enough to be a starter. I also like to remind you what it was like 2 years ago with Orton. Remember how terrible the offense was? Remember how great it felt when Rex came into the game? Remember the 100+ qb rating games he's had? The skills are obviously there. The rest of the team is to blame as much as Rex is to blame, especially with this loss. /rant You are completely correct-the middle is open down field-Turner sends in sideline passes doomed to fail. The weapons we have, Mark Bradley, Garret Wolfe , and Hester on offense-dont even get a sniff. They are the only team still trying to set up the pass by the run-its a offensive scheme no one can succeed at .

    OJ in Jail

So good to see him in cuffs again. And they did fit, so you cant acquit
  13. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 16, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) Buehrle no-no Jenks tying the record. Thome 500 walk off. burn the rest of the video. It'll be a short season in review DVD after this year-unless these 3 events replayed a hundred times.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) The standard punishment for this sort of thing is the loss of multiple draft picks. I don't see why they shouldn't have their 2008 1st round pick taken away to start. I'd love to see them banned from post season-like they would penalize a University with loss of a bowl game. I cant stand them
  15. As stated before, other prospects should have got the extended look that Owens got. Nothing should be determined on both Sweeney and Anderson. Owens we know is a 4 or 5 OF now. Playing Erstad was a waste of time after August 1
  16. Its hard to gauge consistency with garbage like Cintron & Gonzalez playing third, Erstad in the field, and Richar apparently regressing at second.
  17. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 06:16 PM) I'm pretty pissed about today, but I think the Bears should be okay. It took some really really fluky s*** (Berrian basically 'quitting' on a route; the awful punt and subsequent bounce off McGowan; Benson and AP BOTH fumbling) for the Bears to basically give that game to San Diego. San Diego's D was impressive but their offense was marginally better than the Bears'. And I still despise Ron Turner's offense. Very little creativity. How about giving Benson some room in the single back set instead of running the ball out of the i-form every f***ing time? It just sucks that these Wisconsin f***s are going to have a field day tomorrow with Green Bay and the Brewers both winning. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have the Brewers fans talking s*** than the Cubs fans, but Wisconsin rooters are all pretty scummy. When the schedule was released-I saw San Diego on the road, and put that in the loss column. Its bad we had to fumble it away, but we were gonna lose this. We were not going undefeated. Turner's offense was the problem today, the throws were working. All will be well, but the annual Mike Brown injury is gonna hurt, again. I agree with you. Chin up fans-we will be fine. The others have to play this team too
  18. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) He's also facing a team that has been playing as bad as the Sox, and his only other good start came in this cavernous ball park. I agree he should get another start, but if he gets rocked again (espsecially if it's at home) I don't want to see anyone point to these two games in Detroit as evidence of why he should continue to get a shot. Its hard to deny the stuff he has-we all saw the consistency slow to come with Garland. That paid off- We cant give every regarded prospect the same treatment they gave Brian Anderson. Personally, I would have liked to see him get the shot that Owens has had. Maybe Floyd is that road game pitcher we lost in Freddy Garcia.
  19. I dont mind, but why so soon after recent mindless rants? Looks like they either condone it, or ignore him like the players seem to do
  20. I want Garland or Contreras to win out-then replace them with something we need now
  21. One of the pitchers will be traded-for financial reasons, and the best player we could get, to fill the hole in the leadoff spot, must be the way to go
  22. And you knew he'd work Harrellson in, but the reference to corpseball is true
  23. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 09:01 AM) Well, it can't be both ways. First, we have too many expensive players (Konerko, Thome, Dye, Buehrle, Garland, Contreras, Vazquez) and now we're too cheap? I guess we will get on KW for painting us into a corner with the lack of payroll flexibility, and the fact that the contract for Contreras will be almost impossible to get off the books over the next two seasons, barring a miraculous turnaround. I don't even think that most of the issue with first rounders is KW's doing, it's more of a JR-philosophical thing. The fact is, there are only about 6-8 teams in MLB that are currently what you would call free spenders...unfortunately, the Tigers are one of them...and the Indians SEEMINGLY are set up for a nice run the next 2-3 seasons as well...Minnesota will always be in the mix with Ryan as GM, and the Royals are looking better and better, not to mention Moustakas COULD be a stud to go along with Gordon. You do what has to be done to resurrect this-the hell with financial flexibility. Otherwise I agree, blow the whole thing up
