  1. the whole week and a half of the series you would not want to be near me. if it turns out the wrong way, i might really have some issues.
  2. According to the Trib, both Dank's have dropped Boras as an agent and are now with Jeff Berry, agent of Mark Buehrle and Josh Fields. I like it.
  3. Don't worry I will be at all the games this weekend. so I have no idea what that means. go sox.
  4. signs were on tv with just about every right handed batter. and carlos's post game interview with gammons was great. real classy on saying the whole win was because of jose keeping them in the game.
  5. and everytime a right handed pitcher was up, those signs were in the background.
  6. "but I did love watching Fisk play, he was the reason I was a catcher in Little League." same.
  7. I think its a cheap publicity stunt. But if each league or team, were to give out an award that would somehow encompass what the whole Jackie Robinson story deals with, and part of that award includes that player getting to wear #42, then I think it becomes a great honor to the man and the cause. But I think everybody wearing it is cheap and thus has become a publicity stunt.
  8. great game, i love it. Aj is the man. I would still trade Uribe if someone came asking. As far as his defense, he might end up costing us more runs in the end, at until he gets used to 2nd. Crede I would have to see what we get back, a real 2nd basemen and a prospect?
  9. I would imagine it works overseas unless the Chinese government blocks it. Usually extra innings is billed in four cycles, so you should be able to get it then cancel it. but don't hold me to that.
  10. I think alot of people were upset with the trade mainly because during the season Williams said he was untouchable in regard to a Soriano deal. Then in the offseason he sends McCarthy to Texas for Danks, which at the time looked like an even trade.
  11. For the whole series, has to be AJ. If Crede gets those calls, it could be him too. Danks and Masset only played in one game each, but in their games, they we lights out and should get players of the game.
  12. I disagree with the call, but cabrera is a dumbass for sliding in like that.
  13. I know Dish does not have a deal with WGN to broadcast WGN HD. Maybe its the same with comcast.
  14. I like OCab. Good game today. This morning I am a lot less pissed about it all.
  15. Got the game being DVR'ed at home ala DirecTV Extra Innings (Free preview this week for all those with DirecTV). Plus the wife let me get it this season, basically so she could use the computer at home instead of me watching the games through MLBtv. Can't decide if I shoudl still play in chat at follow by Gamecast while at work though. Go Sox!
  16. Ok sending Fields down does not bother me at all. We have Crede, he is gone at the end of the year no matter what, same with Uribe and Hall. So having Fields and Phillips in AAA is not that big of deal. They both do not earn Major League Service Time, thus putting off their arbitration years, iirc. Also unless we get a damn good deal fro Crede, he is not being moved until May 1st. Hall probably didn't accept his assignment to the minors (thus the two closed door meetings today). He already cleared waivers then also going in that line of thinking. I wouldn't be surprised to see Crede put on the waiver wire sometime soon, if he hasn't already been on there. This would free both up to either get claimed, probably would let Hall go and up Crede back off waivers, or, if cleared, able to trade them after the deadline, if i understand the rules correctly. We already blew our load with Uribe on this though. I don't like the idea of Quinten being on the 25 man to open the season, I would rather bring in another arm in the bullpen for April, since Ramirez is going to get limited time at 2nd with Uribe there and would make a good/serviceable 4th outfielder until Owens is completely healthy, which after a week long minor league assignment/extended spring training, will be in mid to late April. Hopefully Anderson can stake his new claim to the CF job by then. The key to all these moves is looking at how they set up the future, not just how they set up this year. There are a lot to the "rules" of Major League Baseball, as evidenced by the whole Uribe waiver wire saga, that we don't understand that I am sure are affecting many of these personal moves. And you are a dumb ass manager of a business if you don't under stand all the rules. This team should be pretty damn good come 2010, even without depth in the minors. The Tigers should have passed their time by then and you never know the Indians could start selling off some of their players that are ARB eligible and becoming free agents. Just a thought.
  17. I hope this puts BA in the driver seat for the CF position. My plan to have a BA jersey might actually work. I have blank one in my closet.
  18. so because of half priced monday's, they won't give away free tickets?
  19. Basically yes, no one knew what they were talking about. I just wish the guys over at whatifsports.com would truely understand the rules too. hardball dynasty = awesomeness.
  20. i believe there is really only one type of waiver. if a player clears, he may be sent down (if he is allowed to by service years as determined in the CBA), given his outright release, or have nothing happen to him. if the player does not clear the original team may work out a trade with the claiming team within 2 buisness days, recind the the waiver and leave the player on the major league roster, or let he claiming team have the player with the claiming team assuming the players contract, paying a fee to the original team, and placing claimed player on their major league roster. a player may only be placed on waivers once a season (but i am not sure if once a player clears waivers and gets traded at a later date, if the "cleared" status follows the player. and since the waiver wire is a secret in baseball, no one is allowed to comment on it. this is really to protect the original team from a number of factors, one of them being backlash from the player.
  21. I was going to go look for that neyer article, but you beat me to it. i am guessing they threw him on waivers to gauge interest. and if nobody claims him now, it may open a door for a late trade in the season, past the deadline, since he has already cleared waivers for the year. question, does this 'cleared" status follow him if he is traded during the year? say he clears waivers now. we trade him to a different team in a few weeks, can that team then send him in a deal past the deadline? or does his "cleared" status get whiped clear after the trade?
