I'll stick with Uribe thanks. He is younger than Rollins and Furcal, all 3 strike out alot yet still get on base. I'm content with Uribe at SS
-
:headshake There is no point in trading Uribe...I dont understand the sudden interest in wanting to get random_shortstop_01 when we have one of the strongest arms in MLB at SS..

QUOTE(knightni @ May 2, 2005 -> 04:38 AM) The horny gay old man (muscle-ly armed paperboy) at the prom made me choke on my drink. "Make sure you stretch out those creamy-white hamstrings"

QUOTE(The Critic @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) August could also be kind of a b**** for the Sox. Minny twice, Mariners twice, Rangers at Arlington, Red Cubs at Boston, post-trade deadline Spankees twice, and Blue Jays. Not very easy, I don't think. Thats a pretty s***ty August lineup of teams to play. Lets hope we are still healthy by then, and not coasting on fumes a la the 2000 season

Actually, I think KW is correct on that. this is, for statistacal purposes, his 6th year of MLB experience. With that being said, I honestly don't think this has anything to do with it being a contract year. I think it has to do with the fact that he has 2 guys behind the plate that are calling outstanding games, someone pounded it into his head that the defense behind him is there for a reason so let them do their job. Also, this is the first time in a long time that I remember seeing Garland go right after guys, using the sinker as an out pitch, trusting his stuff.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 2, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) Nah. Demolition Man was a better movie of his. I liked it, but it lost like 5000 cool points when I heard Wesley Snipes, the bad guy, say this s***: "Exactamundo!" What the f***...weak one line.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 2, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) I'm a christian and I thought the jokes were hilarious. However the best part was Brian and Stewie hands down... I was disappointed there was no Quagmire... Oooh...good point Jeckle. Didn't even think about it till you said so. No Quagmire...I'm sure that will change soon enough though.

I'm all for keeping who we got, and not bringing anyone in that can influence the team attitude right now. Ozuna is our super utility guy, and quite honestly, Lopez looked quite relaxed and fluid at SS today. Don't tell me that he didnt hit for s*** in AAA, as long as he can move the runners over, play a solid SS when Uribe is out/DL, then I am happy.

"You're not gonna eat all those hamburgers!!!" "Oh look! He is gonna try!!" Hehe, I enjoyed Family Guy tonight. The G.I. Joe reference was classic, and overall was a very solid return. Also, the intro....money! Jesus: "Have you ever used one of these?" (shows Chris Tucker a gun) Chris Tucker: "Have you ever used one of these?" (pulls out a joint) Good stuff

#5s being successful because they are facing #5s is a highly overrated line of thought. Teams don't play the same schedules, same days. There will come a time when we have Garland out there against another teams #1. It happens. Rotations change around days off. Now, with that being said, I still think Garland will win between 15-20 games. He is a different pitcher this year, trusting his offspeed pitches enough to be his out pitch, letting his defense make plays behind him.
-
Lets not overlook 1 HUGE fact from this years pitching staff: AJ Pierzinski and Chris Widger Our 2 backstops have done a helluva good job in calling these games for us so far. I was one of the folks that wanted to see Olivo in a Sox uni for a long time, but lets be honest here. Olivo and pitchers confidence didn't seem to go together often. AJ and Widger have been EXCELLENT additions to this 2005 squad. While alot of the credit goes to Garland for finally going after hitters, trusting the defense behind him.....the 2 catchers deserve an awful lot of credit themselves.

TBH I hope its an argument we don't have to even worry about. Pods-AaRow-Dye is fine for me defensively. Drop Dye to 7th or 8th in the order, and I'll be happy.
-
Nice stop by Crede there! 3 up, 3 down for Jonny G.
-
Nice work TLAK. Like I've said many times already this year. Dye being in the lineup everyday is quite alright with me, I want him in RF. I DO NOT want him batting 5th in the order, that is Ozzies fault. Thats the adjustment I want.
-
You guys obviously don't remember the Carl Everett CF escapades from his last time around with us. After seeing him not hit cut off men, not take good paths to the ball, not make good decisions in the field, I'll pass on him playing RF. Dye will be fine, my #1 beef with him in the lineup isn't that he is there, its that Oz continues to parade him out there in the #5 slot in the order. Um, no. Adjustments on teh batting order are necessary.

If we don't score, it should be pretty obvious where we lost this game. You don't load the bases with no one out, and score 1 run. Thats the recipe for how to lose a close game.
-
Leadoff walks....we use them as a reason to give opposition 2 outs at once, they use em to score the lead run.
-
shagar...stop. just refrain from that

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) I understand that but I would never do that and take Carl out....you have to be a little instinctive there. Seeing how we have played all evening, there was a huge chance we would not score more than one if any....bad move by Ozzie....and I said it before the inning was over so there is no 20/20 here Bottom of the 9th, no outs, winning run on. You play to win, not to be cautious.
-
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) Will we have anyone left on our bench soon? And this is why there was NO FOCKING NEED to replace Carl with Ozuna Carl is the only one we have who can hit the ball out of the park and focking loser Ozzie does his shiat Because he was the winning run on base...and Ozunas speed > Everetts speed. It was the right move, good or bad results
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) Are you telling me having a speed guy with the bases loaded trying to park one when all we need is a base hit isnt reason to complain. Come on then. Bad approach, 1 AB. He wasn't alone in that all or nothing HR mentality tonight. This sort of game seems to breed that mindset in our guys.
-
He popped out on a good pitch, what else do you want? Was a real good location from Walker. Enough of this BS b****ing and whining about EVERY at-bat someone you don't like has that isn't perfection. No One is getting the job done tonight, except the Sac Fly by AaRow

11 walks, 15...FIF-f***ing-TEEN runners left on base..... and this is Detroit...
