Yeah, but too bad, cause he ain't going anywhere...

Heres what I say...whats the reason for trading Lee at all? Everett walks after this year, and we can leave it as Lee, Rowand, Ordonez in the OF....we don't need 30+ HRs at every position..Rowand is needed, because he has shown no reasons as to why he shouldnt be playing everyday...he does what is asked of him, gives everything he has in the outfield, and simply, he is hitting the ball well. I have no problem with him playing everyday, let Everett play LF, Lee DH, Frank at 1B...and JM can tinker from there...the kid deserves to play everyday, plain and simple.

Not so well so far... Player W-L ERA G GS CG SHO SV IP H R ER HR HB BB SO WP AVG Wright, Danny 0-3 5.04 6 6 0 0 0 25.0 22 15 14 4 2 7 20 0 .239

and I will say that he will be back..and leave it at that...I've reached my Koch defense limit for the night...thanks for the debate...
-
He is by no means a consistent pitcher...look at his career stats...one year he is dominant...next year, WHIP over 1.5, which is garbage for a reliever called upon for 1-2 innings. All I know is what I read and see myself, and I know that any player who whines about "roles" are petty. Yeah Koch talked this year too, but all he said is that he is the closer, not "Why am I not closing games, thats my 'role'." No one wants to hear pitchers piss and moan about what they are used for in the heat of a pennant race.
-
I am sure that he is a pile of crap...but I'll regress a little...he shouldn't have been out there for 3 innings really..but then again, when your starter puts you in that position, and your bullpen is overworked from an extra inning game, not many options. So, where does that leave us? I guess in the fact that we had no 5th starter, and it hurt us the most today.
-
No, White is a pile of crap..who cries when he doesnt know "his role" on the team. Porzio was probably just happy to be in MLB...Koch, he just pitches.hurt, unable, doesnt matter, he just wants to pitch, and he genuinely wants to do whats best for the team. More than i can say for White and Fatolo.
-
Yeah, 1 run, and thats 89% less than they scored on the rest of the team...someone has to diagnose his problem, it doesnt seem to be much of a priority to the staff, and I'm confused...Billy is a gamer, and he is gonna go out there everytime his number is called, whether he is physically capable or not(more than i can say for Fatolo, BTW) if they are waiting for him to tell them the problem, they are gonna be waiting a while.

The Daubach signing was a no-lose situation...don't see how that was a bad move, we needed a lefty bat on the bench...
-
and i will continue to defend him, even now at his current status, he is better than Rick White...and he got himself in trouble with control tonight, and minimized the damage. He will either have to use what he has now, or go DL and figure out the velocity drop cause. WTF, we shouldnt even be talking about Koch after this game, yet we always come back to the same subject. Lets talk about Rich White...his 6+ ERA, his mouth that has been talking about, "I don't know my role." Your goddamn role is to not give up 5 f***ing runs to the Devil Rays...your role is to get people out. Hell, Koch at least got through 2 innings, and pitched OVER his problems...White cant say the same.
-
It is unfortunate because Rowand was really starting to hit when they got Everett, for apparently no reason other than to make the stockholders and fans think they were making a run at it , "hey they must be, tey are buying instead of selling." Well, it has cost one of the guys that was getting hot not to have anywhere to play, when he should be in CF everyday.
-
You said it all right there LDF...KW wanted Foulke out of here, and he made a move that while financially and roleplay made sense, he forgot to make sure that Koch was able to do what he was acquired to do.
-
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret....Koch pitched BEFORE 2003!!! I know, hard to believe, but true....and his stats BEFORE 2003 show that he was a good closer with the numbers to back it up...something is wrong with him this year, evidently no one knows what yet. But when right, he is bar none our best option at closer....the whole Koch's son argument is pretty weak, by the way
-
Yeah, it sucked because we had no long relief in the pen to use...maybe Glover for 3, White for 2...then we see from there
-
Did summer camp let you guys stay up late tonight? Its not a difficult concept...look at the STATS..thats what we have to go by in baseball. The STATS say that Koch is the prototypical closer that most all pissed and moaned about the past year. Well, KW goes and gets one, and now that he isnt right, everyone lines up to pile on him. Go talk to KW if ya want to gripe, his failure to check the facts is the issue
-
Yes I am A Koch supporter....look at his stats in his career...166 saves...he was brought in to be the closer, no one decided to make sure he still could throw 100 mph...the trade made lots of sense on PAPER, and yet no one checked Koch out before acquiring him. I know what he is capable of, and Don't ever call me a f***ing Cubs fan again, junior...thanks
-
Thats EXACTLY what i was thinking, unfortunately...the Glover experiment begins again...
-
Nobody f***ing gets it....how Goddamn much better do you think we would be with Foulke...the guy walks after this year, and Koch has blown 4, count them on your fingers, 4 saves....ok? Thats less than Marte, less than Gordon, and White has blown to the nth degree more than Koch..
-
The same guy is paying Koch that is paying Rick White to suck even more, but I know...he's not as fun to pile on as Koch...all aboard!!
-
I say that someone shoulda checked the guy out 1st...1)It was KW dealing with Beane, so something is up automatically...2)Its KW, he shoulda known to check Kochs overuse from last year...I still think he can get it back, but someone has to diagnose the problem correctly..
-
Dude, look how much he was used last year...he doesnt have his velocity...thats not something he lost in the couch cushions...theres a problem....oh, and yeah...we should resign Colon because he has been SO consistently good in a Sox uniform so far. He really looks like he is compassionate about pitching for us.
-
Damn you koch, giving up the 10th run in a 10-6 game. Way to lose it for us! Yeah...really, that 10th run....c'mon you f***nut Koch!!! We coulda scored 3 more in the 9th...but they knew they couldnt score 4, so they gave up....chalk this one up to Koch again....assclown!!
-
Yeah, he should be more like the afformentioned Rick White, he is pitching so well
-
You think that he will never pitch like he has in the past again? Geez, you guys are quick to give up the ship on players...I guess when Buehrle was 2-10, everyone was yelling, "Get rid of him...he is awful!!" I don't hear people saying the same about White....he is garbage, at least Koch has the possibility of getting back to Koch form...I swear the guy has a dead arm, and won't tell anyone...seems like the coaching staff could figure it out...almost 100 IP last year, Beane wears em out, then trades em away...and there are dicksmokes like KW there ready to take on the trades.
-
Bulls***, bulls***, bulls***....he isn't costing us anything right now, expecially when the pitching staff has already given up 9 damn runs to the AAA Devil Rays...I know the scapegoat talk hasnt been able to be said with all our winning, but give it a break
