3 unearned runs. Francona must have slept through spring training

Offense sucks. Right Tank?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) Sox predictably have been horses*** since the Yankee disaster. Offense needs to wake up. It was Rienzo vs. Tanaka yesterday. Only Soxtalk blames that loss on the loss the day before.

There was a group of draft hopefuls working out at my gym this morning. McDermott was there and that dude does not miss in drills with no one on him. The only other guy I recognized was Adrien Payne who looked athletic enough but his shot was off, at least this morning.

Danks threw 3 bullpens before this start

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ May 24, 2014 -> 07:38 PM) He should try to figure out how to break 90, and then pass the secret on to EJ. According to the gun at the park today he broke 90 a lot. -
QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 24, 2014 -> 02:26 PM) Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN · 17m Report that Jerry Reinsdorf was part of #WhiteSox contingent to see Aaron Nola is false. Also listed Kenny Williams Jr., scout for diff org. Boy that Keith Law really does have good inside sources. He is a hack.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 24, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) Another edition of the Robin Ventura amateur hour. Too bad he missed his own amateur hour.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 24, 2014 -> 04:20 PM) He sits in the clubhouse and makes all the calls, you think he went to Dairy Queen my gosh. Ozzie used to go to Carmichael"s. Ventura doesn't run the game when he gets tossed. I am sure Cooper was running the pitchers.

According to the USCF gun Danks is throwing 90-91

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 24, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) I don't care what anyone says. I love his call when the Sox win on a walk off It is worth hearing he has been in baseball parts of 7 decades 1000 times. Or 5000 Yaz stories. I only wish he could have called the WS win. It would have been unreal.

Coop can't fix him. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 23, 2014 -> 03:52 PM) It was the Pirates initially, but yes, this is exactly right. It'd be absolutely insane for Boras to not have his client sign at the #3 pick value or maybe even a little above slot. The Pirates took him but the Astros would have taken him if he would have taken $6 million.

Chris Sale to start Thu May 22 vs Yankees

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 23, 2014 -> 02:24 PM) At this point the fact that sales elbow hasn't blown up with that motion perhaps is evidence that he has top percentile ligament strength and that if he does have problems it won't be the elbow, maybe shoulder. I hope that's the case. I hope that's the case, but it's nothing but wishful thinking. Some guys blow out their elbows when they are 16 some guys blow them out in their 30s with over 2000 IP in the major leagues. To declare now he won't have elbow problems, while hopefully true, makes zero sense medically. -
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 23, 2014 -> 01:33 PM) I dislike the Heat because they're a rival of the Bulls. Somebody else mentioned it, I now have to like Rodgers and the Packers? Miguel Cabrera had an amazing season last year, I can't dislike him and the Tigers now? GTFOH Bulls fans should only hate the Bulls. #paulgeorge>pippen

Mark Appel signed for $6.35 million as the #1 pick last year. 18% BELOW SLOT, and below the 2 previous #1 picks. He alledged turned down Houston's offer of $6 million the year before so the Astros moved on. I find it hard to believe Rodon would risk what he would be risking to not sign right around slot at #3.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2014 -> 12:40 PM) There was no bigger fan of Semien on this site than me last year, but his ridiculous contact issues seem to have come out of nowhere. You don't want to see him become another Josh Fields, where the player can't make the most out of their ability due to not being able to make contact. The strike out rates for far too many players in this system are ridiculous (Davidson, Anderson, Thompson, Hawkins, Trey M., Barnum). Buddy Bell has been with the Sox since 2009, and it doesn't seem like there has been any improvement in the system and the players don't seem prepared even when they do make the majors. Here is an article from Jan 2013. The guys Buddy was raving about haven't graduated the system. I agree with you, Buddy must have pictures of someone doing something. He said Mitchell, Thompson and Sanchez were the closest to the majors. They would see the real Molina in 2013 and Castro was "a horse". The contact issues are a big concern to me as well. Guys with k rates that high in the minors are just going to get worse when they face pitchers who know what they are doing and more advanced scouting reports that will show their weaknesses. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-01...ss-a-kannapolis

Ron Roenicke bevingtoned last night and called for the bullpen and no one was warming up.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 23, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) Agree it's an unlikely scenario but I assure you it doesn't matter that Noesi has 0 options. The Sox aren't going to protect a 27 year old sudden journeyman who has shown little indication of turning into a quality starter over one of their own 25 year old prospects that has found nice success at the MLB level. If Noesi shows something, if he gets moved out of the rotation, they will put him back in the bullpen. If he's trash, they can let him go. -
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 22, 2014 -> 05:34 PM) Shark leads the majors in ERA. Hot garbage, eh Dick Allen? He has been doing well. He won't keep it up. Funny you weren't giving us updates when he was falling apart last year. How come?
-
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 22, 2014 -> 08:54 PM) I hope Sale leaves during the middle of an inning so he can get a thunderous ovation from the sold out Cell. According to the former Cy Young award winner in the booth, he is done.
-
Beckham just cannot pick this guy up.
-
Hawk and Stone just verified Cooper is the guy you need to be pissed at if you think Sale throws too many pitches.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 22, 2014 -> 05:33 PM) Garfien: Don't be surprised if Semien plays OF soon It makes too much sense. Although he hasn't played much recently, he is still 5th on the team in plate appearances.
