  1. Ozzie does seem humbled to me. I don't know if anyone would ever hire him again, but I think he would be about baseball and not about Ozzie for at least a little while now.
  2. That is not a strike.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 09:09 PM) Reading this made me feel ill. Its all about the draft pick. I was being sarcastic, but the way CC has been pitching, Johnson proabably has to be really bad tomorrow for the drafters to be happy.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 08:08 PM) It was a poorly designed play then, as Beckham needs to be closer to home plate when he catches that. Instead, he was only a few feet in front of 2nd base. It was poorly executed for sure. If it was executed correctly, it wouldn't have even been close.
  5. From what Hawk was saying earlier, it looks like Konerko,Dunn, Alexei, De Aza are all in their final month as White Sox. He said Beckham was the most accomplished hitter returning next year.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 08:01 PM) I saw the play, and it still gave Wells way too good of a chance to score. With Sale on the mound, you don't risk it IMO. A decent throw he is out by 10 feet. The play is designed to get the runner at home. I don't understand how that is bad managing. It was a good call, poor execution.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) It was just another example of poor managing. With Sale pitching and Stewart hitting, it's ridiculous to even consider letting that runner head for home. You missed the play. It was set up to nail the runner at home. Beckham made a bad throw. They didn't throw through to secondbase.
  8. Ozzie was just on Sportstalk Live. I just caught the end. He was pretty classy. I think he realizes what has gone wrong. He actually complimented KW and Hahn and JR.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) The Bears made 20 draft picks from 2009-2011. Five players are left on the roster. Wright, Conte, Paea, Wooton, and Melton. All defense of course. The Bears are the White Sox of the NFL when it comes to developing offense, with Forte being an exception.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) Okay, I have been completely out of the loop for the last 2-3 weeks starting new job in Indonesia/travelling... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED with Walker, Mitchell, Jacobs, Thompson and Hawkins???? Could there be a more disastrous set of statistics for any organization's top outfield prospects? (To top it all off, Iowa lost to NIU at home). OMG. At least Viciedo and Avisail Garcia seem to be playing well...anything else of note the last month? Those guys just make this year even more of a disaster. People will spin it, but there isn't a person here or with the White Sox that wasn't anticipating more with each of these guys. A lot more.
  11. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 02:12 PM) Daniel Bard was designated for assignment by the Red Sox. I would hope the Sox pick him up. 27 wallks, 6 strikeouts in Rookie, low A and AA this season in 15 IP. Mayne sign him to a minor league contract once released, but I certainly wouldn't trade for him, unless they wanted Jared Mitchell.
  12. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) I almost went because I don't gamble. But once again s*** disguised as thought came out of your mouth instead of your asshole. Nice.
  13. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) You think a minimum of 45 people just arrive at a hotel and get to their rooms immediately? It takes two room clerks about 3 minutes per guest, even with groups, to check them in. Forty five people, minimum, takes a little over two hours, plus unload time from plane, travel time to the hotel, if the bus is waiting, wait for the bus to unload personal luggage, Actually, the pretty much get their room keys immediately upon entering the hotel. This isn't like normal people checking in. Its a lot faster turnaround than 3 hours upon landing, checking into their rooms.
  14. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) That's the reason most of you betters lose bets. Dunn and a few other players flew on a charter earlier in the day, they didn't like the late evening take-off. Know the facts first. LOL. I love the bigshot gambler who says he "almost" went to the sports book. As I stated why did it take over 3 hours to get from Logan airport to their hotel which normally takes about 20 minutes at most? What other players were on the charter? Dunn has fanned twice.
  15. QUOTE (mike89128 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) Almost went to the Casino sports book to bet against the WS. Yesterday was a off day. So, instead of flying out right after the Astros game, they decided to wait until yesterday. Their flight didn't get into Logan until 11:45 PM, into bed around 3 AM. These guys are tired. Real smart move by the traveling secretary. First off I don't know why it would take them 3:15 to get from the airport to the hotel. Secondly, these guys are used to being up until 3. They could get their 8 hours in and it isn't even noon. Dunn went out to dinner with Peavy last night, pretty odd if he didn't get to the hotel until 3 am.
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) Angel Hernandez is a worthless piece of shyte He is, but he was correct there.
  17. Steve Stone on Sportstalk Live: The White Sox will probably be in the market for a CF who understands the game a little better than Alejandro De Aza.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) How many series is he taking off this year? I'm guessing its for Rosh Hashana. Probably just a game, not the entire series.
  19. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 09:15 AM) @BradBiggs #Bears OT J'Marcus Webb announces via Twitter @jmarcuswebb that he will be waived. I bet he gets picked up pretty quickly. He could be a decent swing tackle. Maybe. I know advanced metrics pegs him to be better than what the fans ultimately think, but this is an entirely new coaching staff he didn't impress. He may be too nice of a guy. Tackles have to have a mean streak.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 10:11 AM) I love the occasional "poor Ozzie" stories. If he wasn't such an idiot, he would have owned this town, and ran Kenny Williams out. This is true, except I don't think he could have run KW out. Ozzie is getting paid by the Marlins to do nothing. He left the White Sox with a season left on his contract because he deemed himself too important to be working on a contract that was expiring. There are millions of other people with a lot bigger problems than Ozzie Guillen, and all of his are self made.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) Ya but other than OJ's coach at USC most cover ups do not lead to the insanity that ensued when Hernandez was with the Pats. The pats are more at fault but Meyer is part of the enabling that resulted in a potential mass murderer. What does playing football have anything to do with Hernandez killing people? I would say the vast majority of murderers don't play pro football. Perhaps with the time he had to put in to perform, it might have even saved a couple from being his victim. It wouldn't be surprising if Meyer looked the other way and let this guy get away with doing things guys with no where near his talent would be thrown off the team. Again, every coach does that. Every pro team does that. Most businesses do it. The more valuable you are, the more you can get away with. But how does that lead to creating a murderer? He would have killed people if he never put on shoulder pads.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 10:26 AM) I dont hate either Meyer or Ohio State. And I never said he was responsible for AH possibly murdering people while playing for the Pats. While we are playing the "Tell me again..." game, Tell me again why these "Urban Meyer covers up shady s***" stories follow Meyer pretty much everywhere he goes? There probably isn't a successful Division 1 coach who hasn't covered up some things. I'm not an Urban Meyer fan, but really, the thing that would make him unique is never covering things up.
  23. How many of the 7 footers in the NBA are actually at least 7 feet?
  24. ARod picks up a nice $6 million bonus if he hits 10 more homers this season.
  25. Its roid rage.
