  1. He was on the Dodgers last year. Had worse numbers than he did with the White Sox. Could only get a minor league deal. His OPS against lefties, considering he's 30 and his career OPS+ is only 80, isn't going to stay at 1.100. He is a dime a dozen guy. The choice was Elvis or him. They are paying Elvis more, and Elvis can still play a decent SS. They made the right choice.
  2. But he's a spring training all star. What will be interesting is what they do when Hamilton is ready. If Frazier keeps hitting, I don't know how they pick Billy over him.
  3. Of course Caulfield has a friend who uses malfeasance when discussing baseball. Liam is obviously not in midseason form. Would have liked Pedro to have used him in the blowout Wednesday. He needs to pitch. I don’t know how it’s fair to him or anyone else to use him in tight games when he’s not near peek form yet.
  4. Of course. And they are going to have to hire someone with a clue of how to put together a winning MLB roster. These dopes play the lottery every year. It worked once.
  5. The problem is he couldn’t build a team around those guys even though they were playing for peanuts. He did a great job getting them signed, no question. Their surplus value got him more prospects who he couldn’t build around either. There seems to be a pattern.
  6. Sale, Q, and Eaton all made less than half what the Sox will pay Moncada next year. Eaton 4 years almost as much as Eloys last season by itself. Young players aren’t giving the bargains they used to give. Good for them. Bad for frugal organizations like the White Sox.
  7. Hahn also brings up playing better in May. They were 15-14,. Pretty mediocre. And have to do a lot better than that just to sniff .500 overall.
  8. The thing is, those types of team friendly deals are a thing of the past. Now you get the Eloy, Moncada, Robert type deals. Those don't create a lot of surplus unless the guy is a perennial all star performer.
  9. They have Cease, and a bunch of crap to trade. Maybe Robert. You would have to think Robert on a rebuilding team would make Claudell Washington 's playing style look like Pete Rose. They both have some warts. They can't draft at all. So if they decided to rebuild again, and didn't get rid of Hahn and KW and Chris Getz, there is almost a zero chance JR at 87 years old, would ever see the White Sox end a season above .500 again.
  10. I just went back and and looked. The Sox were 19-12 their last 31 before the AS break in 2021. That makes them an even 162-162 the last 2 years. Mired in mediocrity.
  11. The funny thing is Hahn did a much better job trading his better players for prospects than most GMs do. Look at the crap the Tigers got for Verlander. If he did average on the Sale, Q and Eaton trades, this team would be now on over a decade since playing a meaningful game. They don't have that type of currency anymore. Common sense would lead anyone to believe RH and KW have to go, now.
  12. 39-34 81-81 23-35 143-150 So since the All Star break in 2021, almost 2 full seasons, the Sox are 7 under, including being mediocre at best for all or parts of 3 straight seasons. What Hahn is clinging to, doesn't exist. It's a bad team. Think what their record would be if they didn't get to play the AL Central so much.
  13. Championship quality players. He actually said it with a straight face.
  14. They just had Season Ticketholder Appreciation Week. They gave them a free bag a popcorn and a discounted ticket to parade around the field one game. If the really appreciated them the week would have looked like this: Monday-fired the hitting coaches Tuesday-fired Ethan Katz Wednesday- fired Pedro Grifol Thursday-fired Chris Getz Friday-fired Rick Hahn Saturday-fired KW Sunday-JR announces he has sold the team That would be appreciation.
  15. The amount of games the last couple seasons that were basically over after the 1st inning reminds me of the James Shields era.
  16. Alls not list. If the Sox don't improve, they will be in line to draft the next Carson Fulmer.
  17. Funny thing is Yaz has a history of getting in some horrific slumps. Then getting unbelievably hot.
  18. He's probably the typical White Sox middle infield/back up prospect going back to Chris Snopek. But he has to be better than Alberto. Has some power, and can play a decent 2B.
  19. Andrus is almost ready so I figured Romy was headed to Charlotte. Not now. Elvis or Hanser are soon to be DFA'd.
  20. How can he afford it? I thought he was close to broke?
  21. Sox have acquired JRs favorite, Cash Considerations for Jake Marisnik.
  22. Do they have any international bonus pool money left? JR can sell players for that again.
  23. That was one of my biggest questions when analytics really started taking over. Eminor was on them early and there was another poster that used to tag team with him on it. They knew their stuff, no question, but I never understood the logic how K's meant nothing to a hitter, just another out was the reasoning, when putting the ball in play could lead to hits and errors and runs, And the just another out meant the world to a pitcher. That part never made any sense to me, just like protection in a line up. The problem with protection is it is almost impossible to measure, yet talk to any pitcher or coach or manager, some players are pitched differently depending who is on deck. In fact, Ed Hermann once led the AL in intentional walks. He hit 8th, in front of the pitcher. According to sabermatricians, protection doesn't matter.
  24. They have hitters that don't see a pitch they don't want to swing at. They have pitchers who walk and hit too many people and mess around so much their pitch count gets ridiculous, and they don't play good defense. Other than that, they are pretty good. I have no idea why this FO who have seen the same things over and over again, don't want to at least think maybe this isnt a way to build a team that wins all the time.
