You don't want public ownership. You want some rich person who can't possibly spend all of their money, but is competitive as hell, and not so concerned with winning the battle for the biggest profit.

I wonder how many teams that didn't win a series or win 2 games in a row the first month of the season, made the playoffs.
-
I still think the LaRussa stench is on this team. It was a horrible hire. i think guys like Heyman know it but don't want to come across as an ageist, if that's a word. But there were a lot of other issues. Relying on players who are always hurt to remain healthy, a rookie in RF, a 2B who has been Leury Garcia level for 4 or 5 years, not doing much with the bullpen even when your star was going to miss time, is not how organizations who usually win, operate. With the White Sox, it's the business model.

Personally, I think "Project Birmingham" was more a publicity stunt than anything else. Their system gets hammered by every evaluator. They do have a few interesting prospects though. I think they wanted to take the emphasis off of how little their system is valued in the industry.

Who in the AL Central has any less constraints than Hahn? Detroit, Minnesota, Cleveland have won the division how many times? KC was in the WS twice. If he was in the AL East, it may be a point, but he just sucks. Always has, always will.

There is an argument to be made that guys like Robert and Moncada and Colas and the rest might be more productive players today if they had come up through the Rays system. The Sox organization IMO is pretty rotten. When’s the last time a White Sox prospect, who didn’t play 3 years in college, came up and looked like they had a grasp on how to play? Almost like they don’t understand the game at all.

So now it’s possible White Sox fans are being tortured by JRs death tax , but if he was interviewed today, he would tell everyone how it’s impossible to make money owning a baseball team, and so,e will buy it.

The “window” was open about 150 games. The other sad part is when it was open, they weren’t ready for it, and didn’t have the horses on the mound to have it lead to anything.
-
When they start talking about it’s still early, we believe in this team crap, just remember, under JRs ownership, 4 other teams started the season 7-15. 1986, LaRussa got fired, came back to haunt us all. 1997, Terry Bevington last season. 2001, Big Hurt got inured, but they did ultimately win 83 that year, and 2018 when the lost 100. So as silly as it sounds, the playoffs are most likely already out of the question.

Piscotty is not signing with the White Sox if the plan is to spend the season in Charlotte.

If Hahn was just as pissed as us, he would realize it's a job he cannot do, whether that be a lack of baseball instinct or any kind of restriction he is operating under. He would then resign. That comment, and I have heard him say it more than once, is just as empty as all the other comments he makes in public. But Rick and the White Sox don't care. They're right, everyone else is wrong. Actually winning games be danned.

He’s actually a Sox fan. -
Your last sentence is gold.

The “window” for the White Sox rebuild seems to have lasted about 150 games. They are under .500 theri last 256 games.

His last good year was 2018. Typical Sox.

It just amazes me how low JR is prepared to take this franchise just so he won't have to admit he has the wrong leadership. Almost all of the teams top prospects are hurt. Not a good sign. They have been average at best for over a season and a half. They haven't been able to fill obvious weaknesses, and spring even more leaks. Show Rick the door. Tell KW the retirement he's been talking sou ds like a good idea, and hire a new baseball guy. Give him the power to hire a GM. Give the new GM the power to hire another manager if necessary. Someone needs to get it through JRs skull that if he doesn't care, except for the balance of his bank account, the people who are keeping his bank account healthy won't want to do that anymore. 2 home playoff games in 15 years. Unacceptable. What we were promised has not even within the same area code been fulfilled. Management has failed. If Rick performed in the classrooms at Michigan, Harvard and NU like he has as a Sox GM, he'd probably be working at 7-11 right now. Clean house. Today.

Do you still get pleasure out of rooting for a particular sports team?
Dick Allen replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I like watching the Bears because it’s once a week. Now, they should start being good again. I love the Hawkeyes, even with their warts. I used to be a huge Bulls fan, but now only passive. I wish the Hawks success, but was a pretty casual fan until that sexual harassment thing came out. I hope they get the first pick, but I’m now officially a fan during the playoffs guy. I love the Sox. What’s gone down this season and last is so depressing but easy to predict. They are the one pro team where winning isn’t a requirement for full engagement. If it was for any of us, this site wouldn’t exist. But it is getting harder. I used to never miss a game. If I couldn’t watch it, I’d have it on the radio or keep track through my phone. It was almost a sickness. My wife would be excited for me when the season was going to start, but would quickly get sick of me checking my phone when we would be out for dinner or at a party. Now, many times I don’t bother. Cancelled my season tickets after last season, and any regret I had is lessened by the day. I won’t ever become a passive White Sox fan, and am used to them not being successful, but this is different. The lack of organization wide accountability proves winning isn’t as important to them as it should be.
