Pedro's fascination with Diekman Wimmer result in another loss. -
Yes he did, but he had more than 13 months recovery time. Odds are Crochet will be a really decent pitcher at some point. I just don't think you can bank on it this season.
-
Yes, but the vast majority had several more months before playing MLB than Crochet will have. The pitchers who did not tended to see their performance slip from previous levels. One guy who was similar timeline was Adam Wainright. He still was good when he came back but his ERA was 1.50 higher than before. The next season it dropped a run.
-
I think anything better than Tanner Banks or Diekman is gravy for him this year. They were gushing about him in spring training. And will gush about him again when he's back. The fact of the matter is, if they are counting on anything but mediocrity from him this season, they are knuckleheads.
-
Which is more concerning. You get the velo back but it normally takes a little time. What you do lose is command. Crochet's command was shaky before the surgery. When he comes back, it probably will not be even what it was for a while. Expecting much from him this season is not what true contenders do. It is what fake contenders do.

If the White Sox schedule is tough and they can't win series against good teams, first, how are they going to make the playoffs. Second, what difference would it make if they can't win a series vs. a better team since the better teams are the ones in the playoffs.
-
Go figure, the Sox are banking on a reliever a year from TJ to be one of their saviors. Do they look at the performance of most pitchers in that time frame after that surgery?
-
You can blame the 3B all you want, but the Sox would have still been in a whole lot of trouble if he made the play. Runner on 3rd, 1 out, and a pitcher who doesn't strike people out much on the bump. The bad throw just helped up get to the inevitable quicker.

Blackhawks announced they will not be re-signing Toews. Tonight is his final game as a Blackhawk.

4/12 - Sox @ Twins: Let’s Win the Series

The other big problem with this roster is it needs some changing, but Hahn can't trade anybody. Remember, he tried adding at the deadline, but couldn't, and he was supposedly more disappointed than us. Then said trades were going to be the big thing during the offseason. When he couldn't do anything at the Winter Meetings, he gave us the old, coming weeks and months line, even saying trades could occur during spring training. Nothing. No one will give them any value for their players. It is what is always is with this regime. Hope for a miracle I doubt there is an executive in professional sports that deserves to lose his job based on performance more than Hahn. He makes Gar Forman and Phil Emery look at least average.. -
I think it was time to move on, but coming to conclusions hes done after 30 or 40 ABs is crazy.

This Duran is unreal. i don't know how many splitters that hard his arm will be able to handle, but he's going to be great for a short while. -

Any chance the Sox hit 2 balls fair this inning? -

Check his road splits last year. I'm guessing it's just a fluke or in his head, but he is a pitcher like hitter on the road. -

Besides being left handed, for $75 million, what does Benintendi bring offensively that Nick Madrigal did not? -

It;s a shame. Maybe they can get someone to hit a bloop and have Robert nail one. -

And I get that. They will still be picking players from the same sales bin, but maybe Getz picks someone Hahn wouldn't, and at worst it's a push. -

Hahn has shown he can't pick a 2B. If they insist he remain GM, they need to fade him. Ask him who he likes at 2B, and eliminate that player from consideration. I am not kidding. -

If someone doesn't get on for Robert, the Sox have very little chance today. -

There was a reason he was available at that price. He's this year's Keppinger, Carlos Hernanadez, Josh Harrison, Leury. In other words, a guy whose heirs are very grateful someone employs Rick Hahn as a baseball executive.
