  1. QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 10:02 PM) Good job Comcast. High Definition sound never sounded so crisp. At least they have a HD picture. WGN never got around to fixing that part of their problem in game 1.
  2. Bobby Jenks is awesome. I hope the Sox give him $10 million next year.
  3. I googled and got his fanhouse page. One of his articles near the top of the page is him popping off about MLB being too soft on violence. How is this coward going to be able to say anything again? Perhaps there is a God and he is making this clown's career go down the toilet. One can only hope although admitted wife beaters like Neil Steinberg still have a forum to pop off and judge people.
  4. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) Don't the White Sox have any say in the matter? Who wants to start game 1 of a double header at 6 in the evening, start game 2 at around 10, then turn around and play another game at 1 in the afternoon the next day? It'll be tiring just watching that on tv. The choice was to play a twi night DH and start before 6 having one game not televised and losing that revenue or to have a split DH, start one at noon and another at 6. I'm sure if you ask the players, they would much prefer to have it scheduled like its scheduled if they aren't willing to lose a televised game.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 21, 2010 -> 08:12 AM) Send down Kotsay and bring up Harrel or Torres. On a side note, didn't anyone on our side realize there was a very slim chance of getting last night's game in? Shouldn't they have just warmed up Pena and given him the start? Seems like a huge blunder to let Jackson warm up and pitch to a batter knowing that a huge storm was coming that would last several hours. We can't be giving up a guy in the rotation like that in the middle of a pennant race. I agree. If it were so obvious they wouldn't get the game in, and this was just a Joe West production, why have Jackson warm up at all? Apparently there had to have been some hope of getting the game in. When a game gets rained out in the bottom of the first inning, however, it does seem either someone was way too optimistic or way too stubborn. While this will put a strain on the Sox, it may have been a blessing. It was a very small sample size last night, but Jackson didn't have his command. You never know, he might have walked a few, then grooved a few and the Sox could have lost.
  6. If Jenks didn't blow a 3 run lead in the 9th against Minnesota in July and Thornton was able to close out a game with the lead in the 10th the other night, the Sox would be 4 games closer to first place. These head to head games are huge, whether its the first week of the season or last with the division tied. Some games you are obviously going to lose, but you must win the games like the 2 they blew or chances are you will be thinking of those games when the regular season comes to a close. There's still a chance. Winning the last game in Minneapolis was a must, and they got it done.
  7. The White Sox are the Weiner's Circle of MLB. Insulting their customers works for them so maybe it works for the Sox. I love reading Oney Guillen's tweets. When Kotsay was hot, the Skipper (that's what he calls his dad) obviously made the correct choice, the Sox were soft with Thome. Since Kotsay has been struggling and especially since the Sox have been losing lately has Oney saying the GM is responsible for the roster. I really wonder what Oney would do if his last name was Smith and he had to fend for himself in the real world.
  8. QUOTE (11and1 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) So Ozzie reports to his pitching coach? I am certainly confused but I am confident you will go out of your way to straighten me out. Cooper goes through the other teams hitters with the pitchers and catchers every series. The bench does not call pitches. The catcher will drop the fingers, but ultimately the pitcher is responsible for the pitch selection. Some pitchers are picky, but a guy like Buerhle rarely, if ever, shakes off a catcher.
  9. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) 61,969 posts. 30 second/post. 30,984 minutess=516 hours=21days=3 solid weeks of fathom's life spent posting here. Its kept him off the mean streets. This boy loves the White Sox.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) No, and I will tell you why: 2005 World Series Championship However, it's quite obvious that they do play with far more confidence against us than we do against them. I have no idea why. I doubt many Twins players think of 2005 and the White Sox.
  11. Ozzie needs to beat Minnesota, then pop off.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 10:03 PM) Kotsay hit that ball hard...tough luck He's hit into the toughest luck. That ball was almost still moving when Crane picked it up.
  13. Ozzie Guillen's rants............big hat, no cattle.
  14. I predict in 5 years Delmon Young is as fat as his brother.
  15. QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 09:45 PM) hey rockies to release hawpe tonight....just saying Considering the league and city he plays in, I doubt he's an upgrade over Kotsay right now.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 09:41 PM) The outfield there is expansive, it feels alot like Oakland. I've been to the park and I really didnt like it much, it wasnt very intimate. I went last series, and it was really nice, but seemed huge. The upper deck I didn't go up to but didn't it seem about 50 feet higher than USCF? I didn't know what its capacity was, so I assumed it had to be at least 45,000. I was shocked the sellout was only about 40k.
  17. The ball doesn't fly out of there very much. I wonder with Mauer hitting his first homer in that park tonight, if they will consider moving in the fences next year.
  18. Jesse Crain is thought about in Minneapolis the exact same way Scott Linebrink is on this board, but he's having a pretty good season. Their fans assume nothing but bad is going to happen right now.
  19. They are only chasing 2 so maybe they can come back. If not, they have to win tomorrow. 6 games back would be tough to make up vs. Minnesota, especially if Mourneau ever returns this year.
  20. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) Man, Sale is so skinny. Like twelve-year-old kid skinny. Do you think he's skinnier than Anorexei? Ramirez actually lost 5 lbs in the offseason.
  21. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) I think it has something to do with the Twins having a better team than us. Maybe that wasn't true in other years, but that's certainly the case this year, and -- c'mon guys -- it's not really close. They were better than us last year, and made good offseason acquisitions (Hardy, Hudson and, yes, Thome), so it's not really all that surprising, I guess. It's frustrating, but it's not like this is about much more than that. They ARE BETTER THIS YEAR. (Go around the diamond, even without Morneau, and ask if you'd rather have their guy or our guy). The only quibble I have is with our pitching in these series against them but, hey, the Twins have a good lineup. I was told the Twins couldn't win outside. Miraculously, they have the best home record in the AL.
  22. Sale for Span Steve Stone? Ozzie says f*** off if you don't like Floyd pitching against him here, and quit watching the White Sox.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Coop and Jenks come from the same place in terms of being unable to accept criticism. Yeah but Ozzie throws a few thousand f bombs and has the nerve to say he doesn't care what people think.
  24. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 09:16 PM) OMFG> That was the dumbest SS play I have ever seen. Mental meltdown time! KW says he should win the GG. Has he watched how many stupid plays he makes?
  25. Alexei Ramirez is a talented but dumb SS.
