QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 03:02 PM) Quentin's 3rd multi homer game within a week. 3rd in the last 4 games he's played.

Yankees Legendary PA Announcer, Bob Sheppard dies
Dick Allen replied to iamshack's topic in The Diamond Club
Too bad, he really had quite a voice. The first time I went to Yankee Stadium was in 2002, and he was there full-time, but was slipping back then. It was pretty cool, even though he announced Jose Valentin as the White Sox hitter for 3 consecutive batters. -
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) Delonte West is the first picture on the Cavs site right now. He's probably pretty close to or at least the closest to any man who Lebron can call Daddy.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) You really don't think the Bulls were going to ask Michael to go out on "speaking engagements," do you? As if the guy didn't do enough for them already? DA, I respect what you're saying here, but they clearly misunderstood who they had to be selling this to...bringing in 4 stodgy white guys probably was not the best way to sell LeBron and his "team." I think that much is clear considering how quickly he glossed over the Bulls when asked about them. JR has been around 25 years. Paxson, who BTW, was one of the guys the guy said actually wouldn't embarrass the org. sending him out, has played with and drafted some of these guys. Riley and Mickey Aranson and the Miami coach are 3 white guys who signed him. I'm sure they weren't too shocked by anything that went on during their presentation. He spoke more about the Bulls than any of the other "losing" team. He wanted to play with his buddies and his other buddies wanted to hang and party in South Beach.

Are the 3000+ new Bulls full season ticketholders ready to unload at a huge discount now?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) I had this discussion earlier with my best friend. I think the problem is that they overestimated the maturity and intelligence with which these twentysomething year old kids would handle the process. Instead of hiring intelligent people around them, they've decided to listen to their friends and try and form an NBA dynasty as if this were one of their AAU summer leagues. Unfortunately, it's not. And it's going to really hurt their own legacies and the NBA as a whole. They are pretty well versed on the maturity levels of these guys and have been for years. I was somewhere with an old Bulls trainer many years ago. He actually spoke about the lack of maturity with the Bulls and the roster included Jordan. He said there were only 2 players the team would send out to speaking functions because they were the only players that could handle it, and MJ wasn't one.

Kevin O'Neill Bosh's first NBA coach, said Boozer is better than Bosh.

His voice sounds like Rodman.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) Problem is the new CBA may drastically reduce salaries. Lebron 3 year deal would have to be a 6 year deal with opt out. That's the rumor but I really doubt they will go down much, not the way the owners continue throwing money around.
-
With the rumor that Lebron is going to sign a 2 or 3 year deal and the difference between what Cleveland can give him in those 2 or 3 years is not $30 million but pretty slight relatively speaking, something like less than $5 million, what is the fewest amount of years a team can give these FAs to where they have the full advantage of re-signing them when the contract expires? Couldn't JR give these guys max contracts with a 3 year out and a wink wink agreement he will give them the full boat then? Then they come out ahead.

Alexei always heats up with the weather. As for his defense, its significantly better since Teahen hasn't played 3B. I don't know if playing next to Omar calmed him down, or he didn't have to worry about covering the entire left side of the infield or whatever the reason, but he's playing much better right now. Until the bonehead plays return, if they return, SS is not an issue for the White Sox at least until it gets cold again.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 08:25 AM) There's a difference between getting special treatment and not being able to be told no. To get to the top, the Bulls had to tell Jordan no. The other example is firing his favorite coach...Doug Collins, and replacing him with that crazy NY Knick zen guy with the mustache. I can't think of a time when the Cavs have openly told Lebron no. He's picked trades, he's picked players, he's picked coaches, he's picked the offense, he's picked the defense. There is no one in the Bulls organization that wanted Doug Collins gone more than Michael Jordan. He couldn't stand him, but later realized the good he did and wound up hiring him in Washington.

QUOTE (balfanman @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 08:32 AM) Actually, yes I did miss the 9th yesterday, I was called outside and knew that Thornton was coming in so I figured we had the game in the win column. Generally though, is Lillibridge a pretty good fielder? I would say that his hot streak is over then. This is why I generally trust Kenny, Ozzie, and the other coaches with personnell decisions, even though they are not perfect either. This was all just a thought on my part anyway. I guess that you all now know why I am not a baseball manager! Lillibridge has the reputation of being good with the glove, but he was brutal in Charlotte so far this year, and his throw yesterday was something you don't see much in the Pony League. Who really knows where he is at, but I think at best, in his future, he is a utility player, so he better get his defense turned back around.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 08:21 AM) Did that start before or after he won a championship? If it were the Chicago Stadium, I doubt Lebron's entourage could fit in the Bulls lockeroom even with the rest of the team dressing elsewhere.
-
Its 12 AB. If he goes 0-12 with 6 ks his next 12 AB what will people think then? He was awful defensively this year in Charlotte and threw away an easy DP in the 9th yesterday.

Trade exceptions can't be added to anything. A team can acquire 125% of the salary they trade away (in a simultaneous trade). So if they have a $10 million player, he can be traded for up to $12.5 million in incoming salary. If they also have an outstanding trade exception for $5 million, they can't add it to the $12.5 million in order to acquire a player making $17.5 million. The trade exception can only be used to acquire a player or players making the amount of the exception or less (plus a $100,000 fudge factor). Trade exceptions can't be added to other trade exceptions, either. Right now the Lakers have two trade exceptions – one for $2.5 million, and the other for $1.9 million. They can't combine them to acquire a player making $4.4 million. The $2.5 million exception can only be used to acquire a player making $2.5 million or less, and the $1.9 million exception can only be used to acquire a player making $1.9 million or less (again, each also has a $100,000 fudge factor). I think the plan is the Bulls offer all 3 max deals and the first 2 to accept win titles, the 3rd guy just counts his money and golfs in May and June.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) According to Berger at CBS they could get all 3 and keep Noah and Rose: "The South Florida Sun-Sentinel first reported the meeting , and speculation immediately focused on the Bulls' apparent efforts to offer what previously only the Heat could: the opportunity for the superstar trinity of free agents -- LeBron, Wade and Chris Bosh -- to play together. In order to facilitate that, the Bulls would have to acquire Bosh in a sign-and-trade from Toronto, likely giving up Luol Deng or Joakim Noah in the process. Short of that, the Bulls are only one minor move -- dumping James Johnson and his $1.8 million contract on a team with cap space to absorb it -- from offering LeBron and Wade the chance to pair up in Chicago and chase down championships in the shadow of Michael Jordan." http://ken-berger.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/...ner;mccBlogInfo Getting rid of Deng and Johnson could probably get the Bulls enough room for 3 max, but not the max these guys want with a sign and trade .

GT - 7/2/10 - Sox in Arlington 7:05 CT
Dick Allen replied to southsidepride15's topic in 2010 Season in Review
They are saying 9:30 but it looks a bit optimistic. -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) they share the same agent, so there could be a possibility both of them meet with the bulls together. looks like it gonna be Bosh and Wade in Chicago and Lebron staying in Cleveland. Although I prefer LBJ over Wade, I would do an Irish jig if this scenerio occurred, and the Bulls would be favored in the East for at least 5 years.
-
ChiTribuneLive We know that Bulls had a 5pm meeting with Wade, that Bosh arrived approx 630 with Wade still there, Bosh left approx 715 to likely have a meeting with at the United Center with Bulls

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) Well, only reason I bring it up is if the reporters who said that a lot of stuff had already been decided were right, than it would be a pretty big slap in the face if a team diverged significanlty from that path. I happened to not be of the approach that everything had been completely decided. I Think guys had ideas but once pitches actually happened everything changed. Plus certain teams ownership stepped up and add that with fear and everything changed. There is so much BS information out every minute, I would be surprised its an issue. Lebron will know the Bulls really want him, but he can always say no. They have to have their ducks lined up.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) how much can the Bulls really be getting played? It can't be about money, everyone knows what they're going to make depending on where they sign, and it's not like it's helping Wade improve his situation if he intends to stay in Miami by talking to other teams. I think Wade was floored that Amare didn't sign with the heat and suddenly realized he could be in a situation where he is on a bad Heat team with zero supporting cast and is exploring his options... it's not like it's costing the Bulls anything with other players to meet with Wade a second time, get him in there let him hear your pitch again and see what happens, Wade was here, it didn't really cost him anything other than an hour. I thought Wade wanted Lebron and Bosh. Why would missing out on Amare cause him to flee? Heat meeting with David Lee tonight.

IraHeatBeatAnd if all of this is keeping you up, or away from holiday beer and brats, Wade's agent says "no decision" has been reached on any of this. 1 minute ago via web For those who need to exhale, Wade's agent Henry Thomas just texted here and said "no signing imminent." This is just part of big picture. 15 minutes ago via web

The Miami Herald guy who broke the story about the meeting said Wade's agent sent him a text that said no signing immenent. Wade may be playing games with the Bulls but I doubt it. His agent is a highly respected classy guy.
