April 10: White Sox @ Tigers Game Thread
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Granderson pops out to Crede. It also seems that Gene Lamont is the Tigers' third base coach. So that's what happened to him. Lamont was not a bad manager. Replacing him with Bevington was foolish.

Scotty Pods????
DJ mentioned today that Pods didn't look 100% running. At least he's starting to hit the ball on the ground instead of the lazy flyballs he was hitting earlier. I've never been a big fan of his, but he does have one of the biggest home runs in White Sox history, so I can't hate him as a player. As the guy at Rotoworld said, if Pods legs aren't 100% he is a below average player. He's 1-22, I'm sure the plan is to let him try and work it out by playing. If this goes on another 4 or 5 games, the plan may be to work it out with extra BP and cage work, while riding pine during games. You can't have automatic outs at the top of the order.

Sox vs. Kansas City, 4/9/06, Buehrle vs. Elarton
QUOTE(allupons @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) Bobby Jenks getting hit hard was at no fault of his own today. Seeing him hit 100 mph makes me feel a LOT better about him. The velocity was nice to see.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) starting lineups out yet? We are due for an Alex Cintron sighting pretty soon.

Scary Indians... Even Scarier Tigers
The Tigers obviously aren't going to hit .327 all year, but their line-up is pretty impressive, especially if Ordonez and Rodriquez get back to at least close to normal levels. They both have added back a lot of the weight they lost last year. Their pitching potentially can be decent, and with Leyland around, I think their attitude will be better. They definitely won't be the pushovers they have been in the past, when the Sox struggled with them, although the Sox played them well laster year IIRC.

Not going to panic yet, but something bothers me
Politte and Cotts already have more combined losses than they did last season.

Not going to panic yet, but something bothers me
Going into last season, KW made the bullpen a point of emphasis. With an increased budget, he pretty much ignored it this offseason other than to sign a gazillion minor league free agents, who showed why they had that status in spring training. Its hard to draw any conclusions after 5 games, but it obviously has started out worse than even the most pessimistic would have imagined.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) It's this simple...our relief core was our biggest concern all Spring Training, and they're 0-2 so far this year in close games. 2 blown eighth inning leads. Plus Garland blows a 6 run lead, albeit because Ozuna apparently needs more experience in the outfield to catch a flyball. This is all in 5 games. If that doesn't tell you it isn't 2005 anymore, nothing will.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) I get the feeling that we're going to trade a starter for bullpen help in July. The problem with that is it moves BMac, thus far the most reliable guy in the bullpen, into the rotation.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Just been that type of week. Two good pitches. 2 runs. Geez, even Hawk at his homerist wouldn't put that much spin on it.

Fathom shows he can take over for Ms. Cleo. I am very worried about Politte this year, and have been saying it all spring.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) That was Gruz. Doug made a great play. It would have been tough for Grudz to get there, he was playing up the middle for the DP.

The Sox have fared well against Sisco, the former Cub farmhand.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 01:21 PM) That was one of the ugliest AB's I have ever seen. AJ looks like he was under the impression today's game was supposed to be a night game.

take it easy on ozzie
QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) No one cares if you're scared, not scared, whatever. Just because you disagree with me and I''ve challenged you on this thread, you start getting personal. It's none of your business. If you've got something to say to me say it via PM. You have mine. Since you say you have such a stellar reputation, why don't you share with the audience the PM you sent me. I just commented on your very rude post, way out of line.

Sox v. Kansas City, 4/7/06, Garland v. Affeldt
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Shut up Hawk, Ozuna just flat out sucked tonight. Don't forget, Hawk was the guy who tried to stick Fisk in LF.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) I'll make sure to monitor how it goes with the whole lefty-righty matchup stuff. Let's see if you stay consistent. If you'd have stuck with McCarthy, good for you, you're just about the only one on SoxTalk. Or in baseball for that matter. You can monitor my posts all you want. I'm consistent with my beliefs.

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) My reputation on this board speaks for itself. If you have something to say to me you ignorant tool, say it via PM. You're right about the "know it all 30-something", but you forgot to add "smarmy prick" to the equation. Just to be clear about what I said, you don't know f*** all about baseball. And to clarify once more, shove your eye roll up your ass. OK? This is really uncalled for Really, this post should lead to a suspension. Please show some class, apologize and delete it.
