AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
Joe Girardi and Joe Maddon didn’t exactly have the effect their teams were anticipating.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
RR is supposed to be a good guy. He very publicly lost his job. Kicking him while he is down doesn’t accomplish anything. I know in this day and age, letting everyone have it is what a lot of people like. I just think you can be a little classier about it.

Stone was also really impressed with Rudy Jaramillo when the Cubs hired him. That didn’t last long, and no one wanted him after that. If it is Hinch fine. But I don’t think that guarantees the Sox 105 wins. I also think the cheating stuff is going to hang around him. But as long as he can run a bullpen, it will be an improvement.

I think we get that. He doesn't have to keep pounding away.

Here’s the thing, a mistake is letting it happen once.Letting it happen over multiple seasons isn’t A mistake.

Tony La Russa named Manager
No matter who they hire, at some point he will be the biggest idiot in any team’s dugout.

That is really harsh considering one more win and the Sox beat them this year. Stay classy Steve.

Rick Hahn, if you read this board: please don't hire a cheater.
I believe in second chances but you can’t ignore what happened. He was caught cheating. He knew of it and as the manager of the team didn’t stop it. That isn’t exactly a sign of good leadership.

Rick Hahn, if you read this board: please don't hire a cheater.
I think they probably already have spoken to Hinch and/or Cora.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
That is the one thing that as much as Hahn tried to spin and as good as he is in spinning it, he couldn't get it done. If he wants the new guy to have the latitude to hire his own staff, why didn't everyone "mutually part ways"? Only Coop. So Coop was clearly fired. There is no other explanation. It would have really been something if RH just said, hey you saw what happened in Cleveland and Oakland. They are lucky they weren't pulled out of the dugout mid game. The one coach Ozzie had to take was Coop. The one coach Ventura had to take was Coop. The one coach RR had to take was Coop. The one coach the new guy doesn't have to take is Coop.

With Robert in CF, and Engel on the bench, they really don't need much defense in RF even with Eloy in LF. I would prefer someone a little better with the glove, but if it is Brantley and he hits, I think we will all live with it pretty well..

Hinch a leading candidate for Sox mgr job
It is interesting what someone posted earlier that signing AJ Hinch probably ends any Bauer talk, and maybe the White Sox think that is just as well. As great as he has pitched, he does have his warts. Maybe the Sox don't want to touch him with a 10 foot pole. This gets them off the hook for being too cheap to give him hundreds of millions of dollars, and they upgrade the dugout.

He said he made calls to several players. TA was the guy who answered. But keep going with your Abreu bit. It never doesn't get old.

Cooper also out
There were a couple of games in Cleveland that give it a run for its money. Ultimately, it had to be what cost them. But the game 3 plan made no sense. Dunning starts, when he gives up a hit, get the bullpen going. What does that say to your team and your young pitcher? And if he is that iffy, why is he on the mound? The fact is, with the staff's confidence in starting pitching, the Sox would have maxed out beating Oakland. They don't advance again with 2 starters. Ricky has always managed a bullpen questionably. That was never going to change. Making the move now before it costs you a trip to the WS is probably smart.

A change at the top of the sox?
I think it means he's 84 and doesn't have time to mess around anymore. He seems to still have all his marbles, and seems healthy, but you never know when you get to that age. It's now or never.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
The White Sox make the playoffs for the first time in 12 years, and fire their manager for the first time in 17, and their pitching coach for the first time in longer than that. Who could ever have thought of this being a possibility? This is the same owner than wanted to keep Jim Boylen around. Ozzie didn't get fired. Robin didn't get fired. This is probably one of the most remarkable days in White Sox history.

Cooper also out
Coop's probably had more power as the pitching coach than any other pitching coach. So if they are bringing in someone from outside, with championship experience, not having full control over his department might make them look for a job somewhere else.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
Looking back, you probably have to figure Ricky was in trouble once Steve Stone started criticizing him. Stoney obviously knew something. Then Ozzie did it, although he was a bit more restrained. The Big Hurt blasted him. So you have all that, it was probably a pretty good sign. When our Chuck got involved, it was a done deal.

Crochet's arm fine
Hopefully he stays alright, but IMO, there is still reason to be concerned. I wonder if he could hold up an entire season.
-
Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
It could only be Hinch or Cora. Hinch wasn't as bad of a cheater than Cora, but he should have stopped it. Cora was a ringleader. Supposedly, Hinch does speak a little Spanish.

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
So it looks like the Sox will also be "mutually parting ways" with EE and Mazara.
-
Cooper also out
The weird thing was if no one asked about the current coaching staff, It didn't appear RH would have even mentioned Coop was gone. Considering how long he has been with the team and how many managers he coached under, you would think he would have had higher billing.
-
Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
It is pretty obvious these guys are gone because of the bullpen the last week. RR made some bad decisions and Coop was either on board or didn't speak up.

No Ozzie, but now he is getting the Coop and RR treatment.

Mutually parted ways my ass.
