Steve Stone: more bullpen help is coming
Dick Allen replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They will announce it and Yolmer will emerge from behind a curtain and dump some Gatorade on himself. Half the crowd will love it, and it will remind the other half of the on field horror of the past several seasons where one of the bigger highlights was someone dousing themself. Yolmer is actually perfectly fine for a bench player. -
Steve Stone: more bullpen help is coming

Probably, but the proof will be how MLB penalizes Houston. His prediction is a lot harder than most. If the penalty is anywhere near what he predicts, I will believe he is a lot closer to what he claims to be than the consensus right now. -
Exactly. If you don't spend it you know how it will result. Micker Adolfo may ultimately be a waste of money, but it's far better to take a shot at someone of his ilk than to save the owner some money he will never neef.

I have read in a couple of places he is definitely available, and they need a catcher. -

Could have said the same thing about McCann last year. -
Steve Stone: more bullpen help is coming
Dick Allen replied to ChiSoxFanMike's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think some sort of trade might be up. They still haven't announced EE, and that would require a roster move, so maybe they are waiting a little bit on a trade that will open up a spot instead of DFA someone -
Steve Stone: more bullpen help is coming

I said it before, Iglesias on the Reds makes some sense . They make about the same in 2020, but Iglesias is owed a bunch the next 2 years, so the Reds might be motivated. He was pretty bad last year but still struck out a lot of guys. As long as scouts don't feel he has lost it, it would be a good gamble -
Steve Stone: more bullpen help is coming

If he was happy about becoming a back up catcher after a breakout season, that would be the biggest problem of all. He is going to go. He fits, but barely. He is short term. They can reallocate the funds to pitching. -
Sox acquire Nomar Mazara for Steele Walker
Dick Allen replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
BP had Mazara the #5 prospect 4 years ago. Eloy was #3 a year ago, Robert certainly will be top 5 when the 2020 rankings are out. What other team will feature an OF that can say that? -
If the White Sox basically make no attempt at Rendon who only cost money, why would they make a play for Arenado who would cost money plus prospects? C'mon Phil. There is zero chance the White Sox are involved. Why can't anyone just use logic.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread
Dick Allen replied to iWiN4PreP's topic in The Diamond Club
The Twins signings are so half assed moves the White Sox normally make. I thought the goal was to keep a window open as long as possible. It wouldn't surprise me if they wind up the most disappointing team of 2020. Way too much went right for them. -
Mitch is still their guy. As #932 on the season ticket waiting list, my time is coming soon.

How good do YOU think we can be next season?
Dick Allen replied to SonofaRoache's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They play 25% of their schedule vs. horrible teams. If everything goes right and they get some more bullpen help they win well over 90. That probably won't happen. If the key guys remain healthy 85-88 wins isn't crazy. -
2020 Projection for Moncada from Brooks Baseball/Roto
Dick Allen replied to joejoesox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think his k rate will go down a bit. And his BABIP will too. Even if he dipped to the projection, which I doubt, it is still a pretty good year. If they do de juice the ball, some it will really change, some not so much. I think he is one it wouldn't matter very much. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Sox actually field a feared line up. Pitchers have had a lot of breaks when facing them in recent years. We may see more mistakes. -
FS: White Sox open extension talks with Luis Robert
Dick Allen replied to Rankin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I could see where he wouldn't want to do it, but to be guaranteed with what he already banked, $100 million before you play your first MLB game would be very tempting. -

She was with Rodman. -
Collins has been training with Grandal since he was in high school.

I just don't see the motive. I will say IF they really wanted Puig as a back up, and stuck with McCann to catch 40 games, they better not be skimping out on pitching. There would be no excuse.
-
Puig's people could easily tell Hector that they are talking to the White Sox to get another team to hopefully up their offer. I don't know why Bob, Bruce and Steve would all say no way if it were true. The Sox don't have a need for Puig at all.
-
That's what I would think. If he plays part time, he is probably going to need another pillow next year.
-
Bruce and Nightengale have been pretty spot on with White Sox stuff this offseason. And Stone got a lot wrong around the league but had Kuechel to the Sox once MadBum's price went through the roof. Adding Puig makes little sense unless there is more more to the story like Mazara moving on. The Sox should spend that money on something they really need, not guys to be back ups who have never been back ups and are questionable at best in the clubhouse anyways.
-
If you're Puig, why the hell would you sign with the White Sox? For maybe 300 ABs? How is that going to build any value? Plus he is better vs. RHP than LHP. The Sox angle makes no sense unless someone is hurt or going to be traded or suspended. Bruce, Nightengale, and Stone all say no. They aren't playing games for a part timer.

Steve Stone Hinting At Another Move: Not Puig / Castellanos
Dick Allen replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As long as we are using 2019 splits, what about .313/.360/.482? That's Adam Engel vs. LHP in 2019. -
JDM is not an option with EE in the fold.
-
Makes no sense unless there is an unreported injury or suspension happening. Puig is better vs. RHP. Use the money on pitchers.
