Is “The 78” Dead? Part XIII, Ishbia buys an Amtrak depot
Hitting the ball into the river would be nice.

Is “The 78” Dead? Part XIII, Ishbia buys an Amtrak depot
I wonder if he would build the ballpark there or leave the park in the 78 and build the "village" and parking in the land he just bought. I wish JR would just give him total control right now under the premise of can't waste 4 or 5 years. JR should understand that.

Update: Vasil Needs Tommy John
Its too bad, but the bright side is, if this was inevitable, having it done now is probably best. Non contention in 2026 and probably some sort of stoppage next season for at least a little while isn't bad. Hopefully he returns better than ever.

Update: Vasil Needs Tommy John
Why don't you ever give JR his due. He's the only owner who ever would have made Chris Getz GM, so according to all of your posts, he got it right.

Update: Vasil Needs Tommy John
Nothing is Getz' fault. Why would somebody be so crazy to put any blame on the player development guy when top prospects fail to live up to their billing?

MLB Franchise Valuations for 2026 - Sox are 17th
Quite the indictment of White Sox ownership.

Update: Vasil Needs Tommy John
Maybe for the White Sox it is, but putting together a team that might not lose 100 games is far from miraculous in the normal world.

Is “The 78” Dead? Part XIII, Ishbia buys an Amtrak depot
The White Sox need to add a lot of new fans, and also reactivate the many they have turned off. New ownership will help a lot. I dont think the stadium not being located south is a deal breaker. By the time they play there, they will be at least another one or 2 city connect concepts down the road. I was half joking about moving to NW Indiana, but it makes some sense for them if when the Bears ultimately commit to Arlington Heights, maybe Indiana makes a run at them. Their stadium is half the price.

Why doesn't JR turn to Indiana? Wolf Lake isnt very far from their fanbase and Indiana has no MLB team. Maybe they will build him a stadium.

2026 NFL off season thread
If the public owes the Bears something, don't the Bears owe the public something? There are literally hundreds of companies in Chicago alone that generate more state tax than they do. I get it's a bit of a different business, but they still use the same rules. That said, I don't buy for a second the Bears will ever play a home game in Indiana.

Per Passan: White Sox sign Munetaka Murakami 2 years 34M
Looks like at least one of the Ishbia's hates tanking, at least in the NBA. Hope they have the same attitude when JR hands over the keys. Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia sounded off on the issue of tanking in the NBA, calling it a "losing behavior done by losers" and "much worse than any prop bet scandal."

2026 Spring Training Thread
It's funny, when Beni added weight it was good news because it meant he could maybe hit homers again. Now losing said weight is good news because perhaps he can stay in the line up again. I cannot wait for his contract to expire. Maybe next year they will just eat it.

Chris Getz....he knows their names. a ringing endorsement. I don't think this is that big of a deal because the trade afterall was a salary dump first and foremost, but to think he didn't think this guy was a switch hitter is fooling yourself.

You could almost see it coming though. In 1989, they were over .500 after the All Star break and only 3 under the last 81 games. And everything seemed to go their way in 1990. It was a lot of fun.

What we are arguing is how much these hitting "geniuses" have to do with White Sox success. I think the numbers are pretty similar without them.

And with all that, they still were a bottom 4 offense in all of baseball.

2026 Spring Training Thread
The article said they would identify free agents and trade targets to fix. Which free agent or trade target did they actually fix? Hitting is hard. Expecting someone who can easily fix players is absolutely crazy.
