  1. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 16, 2017 -> 08:15 AM) I was at that alarm clock game and it was a pretty decent crowd. They said the attendance was like 29,000 and change but it seemed like more than that. Not a sellout, but one of the busiest games I've been to in awhile. There were many there for free. 2 rain outs, and they gave away free tickets for April and May games from last year. They didn't count those towards the total. But like you said, there were significantly more in the house than the 29k..
  2. I wonder how they count the rain outs in the attendance since the games won't be made up with their own gate. They count paid attendance. People using their tickets for the rain out don't count toward it. The attendance for alarm clock night was just shy of 30k. I would guarantee there were closer to 35k in the house. So if they have already counted the 2 rain out paid attendances in their figures without using a date, they are behind, and they will be behind, although there is something to the Cubs success helping the White Sox. It does get more people interested in baseball, and going to a Sox game is probably 75% cheaper if not more.
  3. QUOTE (ron883 @ May 15, 2017 -> 11:24 PM) Nice diversion bro. Nobody clamored Brandon Allen as a future all-star quit spreading fake news. Nobody ever said Brandon Allen was a future all star. Maybe you could find one overzealous fan who said Ravelo. That's some funny stuff right there. BS. If you can find the Brandon Allen trade thread, there definitely was a post guaranteeing him a future all star.
  4. 3rd time facing Pelfrey this year, opponents are 9 for 12, 2 doubles, a triple, and 2 homers. Renteria took the blame for the loss. He said he went against his better judgement and was trying to do something for the player before the team.
  5. We can't have someone in the WH that doesn"t know the meaning of confidential or classified- DJT. July 2016
  6. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ May 12, 2017 -> 05:03 PM) Nothing is going right for Kevin White these days. https://sports.yahoo.com/news/bears-wr-kevi...-145320164.html He got it back. In other news, 2 AFC scouts told Moon Mullin, Trubisky was their highest graded QB in 6 drafts. Higher than Luck , Winston, Marriota, Newton.Wentz....
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) I wonder if Soto goes on the 60-day...have a feeling he's toast for a while. That is exactly what happened. Soto surgery, out minimum 12 weeks. The Sox got exactly what anyone would expect out of Soto, some homers, some painful throws back to the pitcher, and extended stays on the DL.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 15, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) I actually hope so. The media jumping on this "LeBron is close to Jordan" stuff going around now is nauseating (although if Cleveland beats this Warriors team...). Unless GS has some injuries, they had a couple last year, no way they get beat. This season was over before it began. It is nice to watch a team like that play basketball, but just like Jordan's Bulls, when they are playing well, it's not much of a game, no matter who they are playing.
  9. Even Ann Coulter thinks Trump has been a disaster. Failing presidency. Sad.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) Infante's only major league time was with the Sox in 2010. Wonder what the record is for longest gap between first year and second year in the bigs? He has to be close. He also has a career ERA of 0.00.
  11. QUOTE (ron883 @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:54 AM) I'm pretty sure very few people said any of this. They are worse than Jose Abreu. I'm sure Tatis Jr. will be worse than Jose Abreu. In your world, that has to be near impossible.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 15, 2017 -> 08:08 AM) C'mon, Josh. This was such an obvious waste of financial resources when the trade came down. We were doing the Padres a Huge favor by taking whatshisname off their hands. Granted, Tatis, Jr. had not yet played in the states, but Sox scouted him, paid him a bunch of money, and before we knew it, he is a legitimate prospect. And granted, the name Luis Robert was not yet on our lips, but there was a lot of talk about signing international talent. There were members here who criticized the trade immediately, not necessarily because of the Tatis inclusion, but because of the other half of the trade. So $25 million is nothing if Tim Anderson sucks. $50 million is nothing if the Sox spend that to sign Luis Robert and he doesn't pan out, but $25 million for Shields is a franchise changer. As far as I am concerned, Tatis is a suspect until proven otherwise. For a fanbase that complains, rightfully so, about an organizations inability to produce hitters, we sure do whine a lot about the guys "who got away". Everytime they trade a position minor leaguer, he is a guaranteed stud. Yet reality shows, they are just as bad with other teams. If Tatis is good as Keith Law said he is, correction, as good scout told Keith Law who has admitted he had never seen Tatis play, then the trade will be really bad. Why don't we wait to see how that turns out? It started with Chris Carter on this board. Someone actually complained in 2008 when Quentin was in the mist of a possible MVP, how trading Carter for him would come back to haunt the White Sox. Then Brandon Allen was a guaranteed future all star. Semien, Ravelo, Thompson, all stars. They are all high k low OBP guys most below average in the field. No big loss on anyone yet. Eventually someone will hurt, but I wouldn't hold my breath it is Tatis. He is hitting .250 with a .712 OPS in A ball and a 31.33% k rate. Yes, he's 18, and young for the level, but if he truly is a top 50 prospect, IMO, more should be expected. To me, one of the first red flags for guys deemed top prospects is the excuse young for the level. It was the excuse for Courtney Hawkins several years ago. Obviously, Tatis is doing a bit better, but Hawkins won't ever come close to the major leagues, and probably won't make, at least doesn't deserve to make AAA. The really good ones find a way.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 13, 2017 -> 08:45 PM) This was the dumbest thing ever. He tried to sneak into a game without a ticket, got kicked out, some other guy brought him back in with no ticket and he got kicked out again. Dude was at 5(!!!) games last week and got kicked out once. Cubs owe him nothing, he isn't a free customer People do give him their extra for nothing. He lives in a senior retirement building a few blocks from me. I see him at 7-11 all the time with his full Cubs uniform. He got free teeth, people take him home with them. He was busted several years ago in Schaumburg for wooing in someone's backyard at 2 AM. He doesn't appear to be clever enough to sneak in all the time. I am guessing at one point they used to let him in, and the policy changed. But I agree, I don't see what the argument is if you don't have a ticket. I guess that they are checking him and no one else. Now what will happen is someone will give them their ticket after they are in. Producing a ticket won't be hard, the question is with all the security you have to go through, how is it this guy is supposedly sneaking in, iMO, it should make he Cubs look bad from that angle. I am also pretty sure they are targeting him.
  14. Gin at the park has his fastball at 95.strikes out the side after the leadoff homer.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 12, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) Contrast this with years of conservative rage targeted at Michelle Obama's healthy lunch and youth exercise programs, and also against our own President who had a "bring me a coke" button installed in the Oval Office and believes exercise is harmful. If it were a movie, you wouldn't buy any of this stuff. But it's all true.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 12, 2017 -> 02:07 PM) In my list of words to describe Trump, I listed mostly all negative ones. Sure he's a creep I just didn't think "human garbage" at this time was necessary or accurate. He said himself he grabs women by the p****. Does it have to be your wife, mother, daughter, relative or friend that he grabs to get you to say he's garbage? Why wouldn't it be any woman?
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 12, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) Wow. Human garbage. You said it. But is it possibly true? I say in no way shape or form could our president be truly "human garbage." yet you said it's "literally" fact. How can I take your posts seriously if you truly believe that. By saying 'literally' you are telling me you think Donald Trump is human garbage. I would vehemently disagree. I guess I could change my mind if the impeachable offense he ultimately commits is sickening enough, but as of right now, no way is he human garbage. Just consider yourself lucky it wasn't your family business that did business with Trump, didn't get paid and had to go out of business, only to have the guy who stiffed you, and you can look it up, there are thousands of these people, boast about how rich he is. I'm surprised you didn't attend Trump U. Think of what you could have learned. Handpicked educators by Trump even though he had never met them or knew who they were. He was a guy in his 60s bragging about grabbing women by the p****.
  18. The Kardashians are filthy rich. I bet they are very smart. Donald Trump as POTUS is IMO a gift from reality television. I know a few people who voted for him just because they liked the Apprentice.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:24 PM) So is he smart or not? I think it's obvious the man is intelligent. Of course he's a con artist as well. He's a ruthless businessman, does not care at all about the little guy. No offense to 1 percenters, but I would suggest most are bad people. I'd agree he's a conman. He's also a jerk and a ruthless individual. Still say that all comes from unabashed ego. If he's such a bad bet why is he still rich beyond belief? Yeah I think he's knowledgeable. Destroyed in the debates? Are you serious? The man defeated Hillary who was horrid in the debates. I can't believe you think he's 'dumb.' He's a lot of things but he's very smart. I challenge you Trump haters to come up with a list of things to describe him. I bet they'd be all negative. I would call him ... Ruthless, narcissistic, ego-filled, selfish, shielded, name dropper, paranoid, unable to relate to the common person; but also hard-working, smart, patriotic, driven. I'm afraid he's also impulsive which could be bad for the country. He's rich because, A. he was born into it, and B. he has people like you convinced he is a smart businessman who has everything he touches turn into gold. The coalminers are going to get their jobs back. Taxes are going to be almost zero. Everyone will have a great paying job. Health insurance will be almost free and everyone will have access to any doctor they choose. We just have to get rid of the Mexicans and all the other "foreigners". His team has already said he was full of s***. Donald the president can't be held to what he promised as Donald the candidate. 2 different things. Keep listening to Rush and keep buying what he is selling. Rush wants his tax cuts and wants to get rid of brown people. Trump's his guy. Hard working? Hardly.

  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 12, 2017 -> 01:04 PM) Trump didn't think firing Flynn was an emergency. I guess having a potentially compromised foreign asset as your National Security Advisor isn't an emergency? Even after he fired Flynn, he said Flynn did nothing wrong.
  22. He could be awesome from here on out, or he could revert to his old self in a day or two. I don't think anyone will give you anything that would be consistent with the return of a guy who is awesome, so I would probably hang on. A really good prospect, trade him quickly, but I doubt that is likely.
  23. Everything Trump is doing to make it go away, is making him look worse. He really is not a bright man.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 12, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) "Loans aren't income!" is definitely the semantic defense they'll try to pull once more info comes out. In Trump's world they are. He never counts the debt when he tells us what he is worth.
  25. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 11, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) Are you an equal opportunity evaluator of bad fielding? Regardless of the error Holland has given up three home runs Yes, bad error but the pitcher has to pitch over it. he gets some blame.
