  1. Jones and Robertson you might get something decent back. The other guys, even if they keep this up for a while don't have the track record IMO where a team will give up a significant prospect for them even if desperate.
  2. Looks like the Bears made a trade with Arizona.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) So if Obama's been such a failure for so long (according to Trump) and he did the same thing the Obama administration did, wouldn't that mean that Trump also failed? Logically, yes, but in Trump's world he has done nothing wrong ever.
  4. Barry Obama is starting to get a little frisky. He just mentioned that according to the polls, Obamacare is more popular than Trump. I don't know if he's right but a lot of people have been saying he is.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 01:39 PM) It's always someone else's fault with him. Why don't they press him on his comment that Flynn, much like Bill O'Reilly later, did nothing wrong.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) Because in general that statement can be true for just about any pick or any trade. To me it's just a lazy statement to try and get your point across. And like I said I'm not a Bears fan so I personally don't care either way, I just don't like that kind of logic. Of course it can, but in the end, all that matters is how they perfom from now on, not by what they were projected to do or where they were "supposed" to get picked. When the Bears drafted Kyle Long, there was a ton of b****ing and moaning about value. Well, they were right. No one has ever mentioned value with that pick since. If they are right here, nobody cares. If they are wrong, it will cost Pace a career.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 08:00 AM) I love it. Trubisky wasn't my top QB but Pace put his nuts on the table. I wanted them to have conviction and take the QB that they liked best. This is where franchise QB's are taken. They were getting offers for the 3rd pick for a QB, so they jumped up a spot and got him. They'll recoup picks tonight but that's not the point. He isn't being safe. I loved his comments last night at the press conference about being aggressive. In order to win consistently you need a long-term answer at QB. If Trubisky hits, nobody will care what the cost was. If it doesn't, Pace will probably get fired. It definitely buys him some time though. Personally, I'm glad he had the balls to do it. I agree with this. If Trubisky is what Pace hopes, Pace is an NFL GM until he doesn't want to be an NFL GM. If Trubisky blows, he'll be back to being a scout with no chance of ever being an NFL GM again in no time. The moment of truth. I just hope he's right. People loved his draft last year, so instead of complaining about the massive price and the big question mark with the lack of experience, I am willing to wait. I figure no matter who he took, and I was hoping Adams, they were at best a 7-9 team in 2017. So let the new QB develop for a year, and Ryan Pace is on the clock in 2018. He's either a genius or an idiot, all on this move.
  8. This team will suck soon enough. Might as well enjoy the winning while it's here.
  9. The dragged man has already settled. So no way $100 million, but I bet it was for 7 figures.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 08:59 PM) This is why the Sox should have tried it without a clown like Robin managing. We would have never had to rebuild. We had some decent teams on paper in the Robin era and sucked. This team's roster is a joke and the Sox are playing good baseball because we have a good manager to go with Coop. If they go 12-1 the next 13, they will be right on pace with last year's team.
  11. Looks like they will be tied for 1st place after tonight.
  12. Much to Greensox's chagrin, Kahnle is pretty dope when he isn't crazy wild.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) Surprised its Jennings again. He's the only lefty. That's another reason I couldn't figure out why he was pitching on Saturday night. The Sox had no shot at winning. He's going to find his way into about 80 games anyways if he doesn't get hurt.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) Check out Doogie Houser over here I was ahead a year, so if I was on the normal track, I would have turned 18. So this guy leaving HS early and still being 19 kind of blew me away.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:11 PM) Yeah you turn 19 your freshman year lol you can have your bday early September/very beginning of the school year and bam...you're a 19 year old freshman. I turned 17 about a month into my freshman year.
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 03:02 PM) He should go one more inning, no? He's at 99 pitches. Renteria has been taking guys out in the upper 90s before they start an inning. Very doubtful he would finish.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 09:31 AM) This isn't true about Beer and it's a common misconception. He left HS early to enroll but he was still a 19 year old freshman. He's a 20 year old Sophomore right now. Yeah, he left HS early but is still the same age (within 4 days) as a sophomore as I was when I was a senior.
  18. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Thames is killing Reds pitching this season, it's kind of fun to see. 8 homers vs. the Reds and it's still April.
  19. I think Ned Yost is going to take the fall for this KC team at some point.
  20. QUOTE (Chris Sale @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) In some of his starts, he seemed to be reverting to old habits (nibbling) and sacrificing some of his strengths (fewer first pitch strikes). He wasn't locating his changeup or slider. It would certainly be sad if this KC lineup hit Quintana, but so far his command has been good and I've liked his aggressiveness. Up to six strikeouts. He was just a little off. I think the WBC had something to do with it. 7k in 3 innings and only 35 pitches. He's looking like a HOFer today.
  21. QUOTE (Chris Sale @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) 4 K's for Q through two innings. Pretty weak contact. Hopefully he's figured something out. He did. Pitching against a team that can't hit helps your stats.
  22. Jim Bowden is gone. I guess the deal was if you took half of what was left on your contract, you would be free to go anywhere right away. If you wouldn't do that, they were just going to bury you until your contract was up. Ravech and Hannah obviously chose the later. So while this is sad in a way, these people aren't exactly like at will employees who just walk in to work one day and find out they no longer are employed, and get a crappy severance if one at all. Most of these people should be fine financially for at least a while.
  23. Get the sweep. I always knew KC's window would be brief, but I had no idea they would get this bad this fast. Give them credit they won one, but they had 2 crazy comebacks in the playoffs, first in the WC game in 2014, and then vs. Houston in 2015, without, their entire 30 year rebuild would have been for naught.
