  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 11:58 PM) And I chose CLE for other reasons, besides them being in first place: 1) Their fanbase has been screwed over more often than ours even, with two complete rebuilds to suffer through (we had White Flag and 1994)...and they arguably had the best and most loyal fans in baseball from the mid 90's through that 2001 team 2) They have lower revenues/broadcast rights deal by far than the White Sox 3) They still managed to make the playoffs in 2013 despite all these competitive disadvantages 4) They still managed to make hiring a top manager a priority, despite limited resources The GM never made any excuses. They messed up BADLY with Swisher and Bourn, but managed to mitigate those losses somewhat and move on. The GM doesn't blame the fans for only having 25 cents to spend, not $1, because he understands the history and the heartbreak those fans have been subjected to. The ONLY choice is to build a winning team despite all the obstacles. Their organization has a much more positive and uplifting atmosphere now as a result, because everyone's pulling in the same direction and they can play off their underdog status. So when did Hahn mention only having 25 cents to spend?
  2. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 02:55 AM) june 24th ends his 15 day dl Will he get in a few rehab games at Charlotte? before then? He can stay on the DL indefinitely. He is traveling with the team, and taking soft tosses. When he goes for a rehab, who knows. If he will be any good, who knows?
  3. First time this season Boston has scored only 2 runs in a 2 game stretch.
  4. Every time I see a foul pop up to 3rd I get flashbacks of Crede dropping one and Manny hitting the next pitch into the seats.
  5. QUOTE (Insp @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) I want to stay positive in a winning game thread, but I have just gotten sick and tired with all these attempted stolen bases with 2 outs. Question is, is this Ventura's doing or that of stupid players? He was picked off.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) It would be nice if we were allowed to be fans in the fashion we want to without being TOLD how we should do it...this isn't WSI. If you start compelling people to post or "feel" a certain way, especially when there's scant reason to do so, well...you'll end up talking to yourself, mostly. I think by this point very one knows you think everything about the White Sox sucks. You are every other post when they are losing and absent when they are winning. It gets called out and suddenly you are trying to throw all negative at people who enjoy the team and are enjoying this game.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) The main reason fans are posting is because there's finally a sense SOMETHING might change about this organization...and there's at least a 50/50% chance it might be for the better. Right now, there's a slim chance that things will improve on their own. If we just muddle along like last season, that's where you will get the complete apathy. Remember when we had that run to get back to .500 at the end of July and did nothing? Well, it's looking likely we will at least split this series, but even then we're going to be 6 1/2 or 7 1/2 games out. And doubling down and trading even more prospects to fight with 8-9 teams for that 2nd wild card? Everyone just wants things to go one way or the other....competing into September and the season being a compelling one like 2012...or just completely out of it. No in between's, it's crippling this franchise. Blah, blah blah. Then don't pay attention. If the Sox were losing 15-2 you would have 1000 posts making things up to complain about. The White Sox aren't monitoring this site for your advice.
  8. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) Anybody have a good reason for bringing in D Rob here instead of giving Nate 1 ore batter? Lefties are doing jack s*** off Robertson.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) Another multi hit game for Anderson. He is doing much better than I thought. If he learns to walk once in a while, he looks like he could be really good.
  10. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Many people are having a hard time getting into this team or trust a lead. Myself included. If Boston took a 4-3 lead, they would return. There are 2 or 3 posters when this are going south that dominate game threads. I don't think they have any posts yet tonight.
  11. Looks like a rocket in the box score.
  12. Shuck always hustles down the line. But he did look out.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Sandy Leon GOAT. His Strat o Matic card would be outstanding.
  14. I went to Fenway many years ago. Carlos Lee was on the White Sox and got stuck on the Green Monstor. But in person, the Green Momster looks like it's about 250 feet from home plate.
  15. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) They had a bad one last night with Avila catching. Was like down the middle and didn't get the caught because he dropped it IIRC Flowers is a good framer and last season Shark threw one right down the middle for a ball. It was on one of the websites as the worst ball/strike call of the year. But I do value framing. Some think it's bogus, I disagree.
  16. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 07:01 PM) Bad umping but Navarro can't f***ing receive. Baffling why Hahn ignored/overlooked his god-awful framing stats when signing him. I am all for framing, but umpires shouldn't miss non borderline pitches.
  17. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) But Avi struggles to make contact Yes but if he knew he was going he knew there would be a hole on the right side and that theoretically could have helped him stay on it. People do it all the time, but a lot of the time attempting to stay out of a DP winds up a DP.
  18. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 06:57 PM) Why would you call a hit and run with Avi and Navarro running for second? LOL 3-2 count stay out of the DP on a grounder and open up a hole.
  19. Why are game threads dead when the Sox aren't losing?
  20. He called that one high. He is high.
  21. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) Man Lawrie has been throwing some leather this series He has been much better defensively than I thought. Needs to get the bat going.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 06:14 PM) Sure it is. Implicit in this thread is the idea that the Indians doubled and will eventually TRIPLE the number of bargain contract extensions for young members of their core. That the cumulative surplus value of that trumps anything else. Hahn won't, because what players will he have to extend? Lawrie? Frazier? Nate Jones? Cabrera? Rodon? Avi Garcia? Anderson might be the only one, EVENTUALLY. You are making things up again. And if he doesn't have anyone to extend does that mean his negotiation skills are non existent? I get Hahn is becoming the new target because of Shields. I get you wanting to become a hero to all the people who are now starting to blame Hahn. But at least try to be a little accurate.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) Still no Saladino. He's now 5th infielder. He's so out of here in the next Hahn trade for a dogmeat veteran. No he isn't. Do you know he is older than Lawrie? I think they like him as the utility guy. I would love for him to take some OF but I think they had him do that in the minors and either he wasn't any good or he got hurt. I still think he could be decent, and then you would have a ton of options with him.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) No, lol. I think you build a baseball TEAM and organization. This is not the NBA, or the University of Kentucky basketball program. I don't think you CAN EVER win with a core of just three or four or even five guys in MLB when the rest of that team is roughly replacement level. The Indians have 12 that cumulatively have more value all around baseball than a number of MLB organizations, major and minor leagues...at the moment. That's not even taking into consideration their 5 top 100 MILB/Baseball America prospects. This is not what the thread that you created is about.
