They are claiming players that will be pulled back. I remember reading about Steve Phillips claiming 200 players. If they want him to stop, they should reward him most of the claims, it would really put the Padres on the spot. Other than that, he is trying to keep the teams ahead of him from getting better. I don't find the harm in that.

QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 11:50 AM) interesting, i would also add the age of the internet and the ability to look up things. to help form a better opinion. The thing is Kane is a star. If it were Bryan Bickell or some other Hawk punching bag or someone from another team, is there really any doubt many feelings would be different?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) Uhh.... I bet Tiger has had more hook ups than Kane. I haven't read of any police involvement as of yet.

One thing I would question is exactly how much of this, even if he isn't charged, are the Blackhawks willing to put up with? You had the cab incident. You had the incident in Madison. Now this. I know, we all pick up girls and bring them home at 4 AM, but why doesn't this stuff happen to Toews or Hossa? Even Tiger Woods? I just wonder, even if they pass on prosecuting this one if the Blackhawks say at some point, we can't wait for the next one. If he grows up, he grows up, but decide to take what they can get for his services.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) Hasn't Sal Perez done that himself? As of last week, White Sox catchers have a higher WAR than KC catchers, and Soto had a higher WAR than Perez. This was the firat time ever all 15 home teams won.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) Also, 33% of our lineup was in AAA in April. The rest should have been in AAA in April. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) If you're going to spend big money and make big trades to fill other positions and make this team competitive right now while giving that rookie/young player a starting spot...you are passing judgment on him. Your team can't afford for him to disappoint if you do that. At the time of those trades and signings, Saladino was a minor leaguer coming off surgery. He wasn't even on the team to begin the season. It doesn't appear in any way, shape, or form the White Sox were counting on him immediately. The judgement they passed was he wasn't ready to contribute. But don't let facts ever get in the way of your whining.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) Run differential is irrelevant. We have lost many games 10-1, 9-2, etc. Our wins tend to be more of the 5-2 variety. Our run differential is very skewed due to our blowout losses. Exactly. You can't have it both ways. If run differential says the Sox have the least talent in the league, then you shouldn't complain about the manager if they are winning more games than they "should". If you're a run differential person, you should want to sign Robin to a lifetime contract.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) On post game, home run to right was 425. What was the bomb to left? He hit 2 in a game last year in TB that were longer than both tonight. He has a lot of power. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) He's made adjustments and it's better. Hope he keeps it up It all comes down to what he swings at. The other day he swung at every pitch during an AB except one. That was the only.strike, and he fanned. If he makes pitchers trow him strikes, he should be really good, if not, he is what he is. He will always have flashes. -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) nah, you look fine. He cherry picked his best stats from his best season. How about his .300 OBA or his wRC+ of of 98? His best season at the dish and he was worth exactly ZERO fWAR. Remember, even 3 years ago .744 OPS was poor for an OF, now it's solid. Viciedo was never half the prospect Avi was. At best Viciedo was talked about as a poor man's El Caballo -- a two tool player at most. Cherry picked stats? You make up some numbers for Avi to get to. Viciedo got to those numbers, soemthing you said he never did over the course of a full season. LMAO. 0.0 fWAR would be the best year of Avi's career, so your made up stats would be cherry picked and equal Viciedo -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) So if Avi could finish around 280/320/420 that would be great. At least show some flashes, something Viciedo never managed over a full season. As a 23 year old, Viciedo had a .744 OPS with 25 homers. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) Sarcastic? I haven't been paying attention a lot but the 1st inning I remember him being generous to Sale on a couple pitches No. If it is barely in the zome he is calling it a strike, and barely out, a ball. Assumimg the lasers are right on, his calls when Abreu was batting were really impressive. -

This umpire has been in line with pitch trax all night. -
I fill out surveys for the Sox year after year. They still haven't picked up Mike Trout like I have asked.

Sale has a 4.29 ERA in the first inning, best on the staff by over a run. Rodon's 5.40 ERA is the only other under 6.00. #coophasthemready -
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 10, 2015 -> 04:55 PM) Yeah. have some decent arms coming up for bullpen, if petricka/putnam have any A-level live arms may be worth it. I don't understand why you would trade Petricka or Putnam for a class A arm unless it is a really nice prospect. They make no money and have as much potential as anyone you would receive., if you want to trade one or both for an equally ranked hitter, that makes some sense.

Remember when the Cubs had Wood, Prior, and Zambrano? 3 future first ballot HOFers, and they were going to rule all of baseball for at least a decade? That was awesome. In Dusty we trusty.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 08:19 PM) I get what you are saying, but his comments read as 100% victim shaming IMO. Maybe it was the way the paper reported them, maybe it was him protecting his investment, I don't know, but couldn't help but think that. What is interesting is Kane's attorney, the same guy who repped him when he beat the cab driver over 20 cents, was supposedly in the same bar on Saturday with his wife.

If she called a relative right away, she wasn't too drunk for consent. I wonder what the bite marks were about. If she did get raped, I feel bad for her because her story is going to get shredded. If it was her that was all over him at the bar, if she did go to his house at 4 AM with the friend, and deciding to ditch her friend in the house to go into another room alone are all going to hurt her case. It is the stereotypical raped case. The alleged victim will be put on trial.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) For team that can't rebuild, we haven't made the playoffs since '08. But the teams people want to be like now were awful for a long time. Last week was the first time in 38 years where the Cubsand Pirates played each other with both teams 10 games over.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Cubs were a similar way two years ago, and now they are so much better managed despite 4 rookies. They have different players.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:34 PM) Because I want to see if someone else can get them to play smarter than this pathetic team. Then you think it is his fault, which is fine. I disagree. Fire Robin. If you have the same roster, the same issues will pop up.
-
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Get the bullpen up. Maybe we just need to pull this clown when he starts walking everyone and getting smashed and he will wake up. It's almost like he wanted to get traded so he'd get a chance to win and lose the QO and now he is acting like a little b**** since he had to stay He has had one really good year in his career. He has lived off his football career and hairsyle for years.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:30 PM) Not his fault, but when the team consistently makes Little League-caliber mistakes, it's a lot easier to replace one guy than 25. Which is the dumbest argument you can make, if it isn't his fault, how is replacing him going to mean different results? You don't fire your accountant beccause your landscaper does a crappy job on your lawn.
