Another huge difference between this and the Kane case is Rose's attorneys are calling this story outrageous. Kane's, as far as I have heard, have yet to say he didn't do anything criminal.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?
QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) One thing to consider, and it may mean nothing, is that in years past, Paciorek often filled in for Stone. This year, Thomas, Rowand, and Podsednik (Podsednik's 3-game stint was one for the ages). Maybe that means retirement via gradually lessened workload, with the team looking at former players to fill in when he isn't there? Just a guess. It was a little different. I just assumed it was 2005 related.

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 12:02 PM) By virtue of them being another Chicago team I know their roster and their organizational happenings a heckuva lot more than almost any team in baseball outside of the White Sox. At the very least that gives what they're doing more focus because I already know it. Wouldn't you rather discuss it with people who follow their team and not another? Do you use Cubs themed sites?

I think if there is anything to Orsillo changing Sox, it would be for the radio PBP. Stone leaves, DJ or Farmer to color on TV.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:02 PM) 100%. And there is a good chance it's a money grab, like similar cases in the past have been. I'm just really annoyed by the victim shaming that goes on in these cases, as well as the pedestal that our favorite athletes get put on in times like these. I love watching Patrick Kane play. DRose is the most important piece for the Bulls in the near future. That doesn't mean these guys aren't capable of horrible, brutal, awful things. And just because they wear our favorite jerseys doesn't mean the accuser is automatically in the wrong. Victim shaming happens because not all accused of rape actually rape someone. Here's someone Rose had sex with for 2 years, and suddenly he drugs her, but not well enough that she can't leave his place and get home safely. Then it hits her, and she can't defend herself and DRose and his people break into her place to rape her. No one would buy this in a movie. And then, after suffering for a couple of years, decides to sue.

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
Unless you are trying to get under a White Sox fan's skin, why would someone go to Soxtalk to praise and discuss Cubs baseball?

Dave Dombrowski hired by the Red Sox
Denny McClain's assessment of DD sounds a lot like many assessments of KW http://ferrall.radio.cbssports.com/2015/08...too-many-teams/

Could White Sox trade some pitching to fill other areas in offseason
No one has a problem when there are 4 or 5 righties in a rotation. Shouldn't matter from the left side. Just put your 5 best out there and don't worry about anything else.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?
Looking on the intranet, it looks like the Orsillo guy only found out yesterday he was done in Boston. I doubt the White Sox have offered him a job. It is interesting one of his nicknames is Baghdad Bob, as he doesn't like to criticize poor play of the home team, but does seem to get high marks for his broadcasts from most.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) He's certainly competent and has been doing the Red Sox for a number of years. Took over for Sean McDonough if I remember correctly. Mark Is he the guy who sounds exactly like McDonough? I don't think Hawk is retiring unless his eye issues are becoming too extreme.

SoxNet: The Legacy of Jerry Reinsdorf
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) I don't think they would. I think if you consistently contend, you will get fan support. Will they get cranky and will you see some reduction, certainly (look at the 90's Braves and how at times, after years of making the playoffs, fans got complacent wanting / needing more). That said, even those complacent years, they still drew very well. Bottom line, consistent winning is the only true recipe to succeed from an attendance perspective. Sure, some times can succeed anyway, but it takes a very rare situation for a consistent winner to not draw well. And the only real exception I can think of is the Rays, which is point #1 for why they either need a new stadium and / or need to move to another market (not sure that a stadium would do any good). Honestly, if I were MLB and the Sox did all of the things Mark outlined and still couldn't draw, then to be frank, a change would have to be made because that just isn't acceptable. I'll also be honest, I'd probably rather be in the playoffs 10+ times in 20 years (and not win it) then twice in 20 years, but win it once. Bottom line, those other seasons would be miserable and that one season, while amazing, wouldn't make up for the rest. Heck, just look how antsy the entire fanbase is, just 10 years removed from the series. We have been awful the past 3 years and it isn't fun. But at least with White Sox fans, once the Sox won, making the playoffs wasn't good enough. Now maybe it will be for a little while, but it certainly wasn't in 2008. And if you technically make the playoffs as a WC and bow out after 1 game, is that really considered satisfying?

SoxNet: The Legacy of Jerry Reinsdorf
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) Daniel: I can certainly see both sides especially from an economic / business / attendance stand point. Think the Sox would be having the issues they are having in attendance and media coverage if they made the playoffs in say 2000, 2003 (which they blew), 2005, 2006 (which they blew), 2008, 2010 (which they blew) and 2012 (which they blew) even if they didn't win the title in 2005? It's a very complicated question depending on your perspective I guess. Mark I'll take the win. I am always excited when the Sox make the playoffs, and disappointed when they bow out. There is nothing like winning playoff series though, especially the big one.

Jared Fogle/Subway scandal...presumption of guilt?
Now it's being reported Jared's charity was a sham as well. Never donated any money. Gave most of what it had to his cameraman, and they don't know where the rest went.

Most hated player in White Sox history
For me it's Navarro in a runaway. He actually once complained about run support after a game he allowed 9 earned. One guy who is up there at least if you are talking home fans, Claudell Washington. Opposing fans, Albert Belle can hang with AJ, but it was only 2 years. Other than that, nothing since I have been following is even close.

White Sox scouting report on Jorge Posada
The Posada scouting report was written while he was in the minors. It wasn't like it was something that kept the White Sox from signing him.

GAME THREAD 8/23: SOX @ SEA
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 23, 2015 -> 05:25 PM) That's how Ventura manages. Get those starters their 6. A decent manager would have pulled Danks in the 5th. Seager was hittmg Robin left him in for the L/L match up. As Danks has been really good vs. LH this season. It was for the one hitter as Albers was warmed up and ready to go between innings.

GAME THREAD 8/23: SOX @ SEA
I know it shouldn't but it does amaze me how many seem irritated when Danks pitches well,a nd love to go on and on about him when he is pitching poorly. He is a 5th starter. Look around the league. Not many of them are contending for a Cy Young.

GAME THREAD 8/23: SOX @ SEA
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) That was a pretty tough play for Alexei, all he did was take a couple steps and it was so fast that was it. I can't be all that mad about that one. Yeah he should have taken 1 fewer step but a walking lead and an extra step on contact is pretty normal. Line drives have to go through, especally when it is right in frontof you. He should have been going back to the bag. There is zero way he should have been double off on a limer right at the second baseman unless he was running.
