  1. I think he said the base was occupied at the time he threw the ball. It is BS, but if that is what he saw, it is the correct call.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 05:05 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 41s41 seconds ago Jeff Samardzija's numbers: -- In July, 3-1, 2.27 ERA in 39 2/3 innings. -- In August, 0-2, 13.18 ERA in 14 1/3 innings (in progress). It isn't the first time he faded in the second half. This guy's career production is nowhere near his reputation.we have to sit through it this season, but the bright side is it probably saved us from having to sit through it for 5 more years.
  3. There goes another million Shark. You better tell your agent to call Ricky before there is nothing left.
  4. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) Love your new avatar. Kyle sent it my way. It looks cool. Geddy has to take a back seat.
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) Oh man josh fogg is a name I haven't thought about in a long time. I don't care how much of a bust fogg and wells were, trading them (who were both good prospects at the time) for Todd Ritchie was just a god awful trade The best thing about Fogg was the fog horn they played when he entered.
  6. Will all the White Sox have a #9 on their Baseball Reference page?
  7. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) faith day? Who is this marketing crew? Officially out of ideas. Joel Osteen had a service at USCF a couple of years ago, i think over 40,000 showed up.
  8. RH! JR, and KWshoukd send a case of Dom to Shark's agent after each one of these starts as a thank you for not negotiating and saving them 9 figures.
  9. Maybe it's time to try Flowers with Shark, just for s***s and giggles.
  10. Soto is catching. This game is in the bag. We want the Cup.
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) That's not true though. The Royals are better than the Sox because they have better players than the Sox do. Better player does not mean more talent.
  12. I want the Sox to sweep, but at least win 2 out of 3. Do it for Ben Finfer. That guy was on Kaplan's show and when they mentioned the Sox played the Cubs this weekend, Finfer said good luck with that like they have zero chance against the newest greatest team ever assembled.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:44 AM) A victory today would clinch the cup, don't know about any ceremony though. I think they would hand it to Sale first. He probably gives it to LaRoche since he's a grizzled veteran who has never been on a Crosstown Cup winning team.
  14. We want the Cup! Do they get it with a victory today? Will there be a ceremony on the field?
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 05:34 AM) Harrelson made himself sound bad with that rant. It was idiotic. The game has passed him by so much it's sad. That was a rant?
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 09:29 AM) Why wouldn't Mike try to mess with the pitcher a bit if he could? That's not Bush league, it's just smart imo. Yeah I didn't understand that. If Robertson yelled, I need a couple of throws, the umpire would have moved him.
  17. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 08:14 AM) I think that's where my confusion is coming from. Either the play should have been overturned or it shouldn't have been review-able in the first place. Yet neither one happened. Unless the decision from NY was that the play couldn't be overturned because the ump called the play dead and took the ball from Flowers? I guess if you really want to stretch it, a case could be made it was inconclusive he tagged him, but that is really a stretch. Guys get called out all the time, yet the review reverses calls. Maybe that one is different, because it caused Flowers not to throw. But what if there were 2 out a man at first and they go to second for the force play while the batter falls down out of the box. The guy isn't on second when the force is called, there still was plenty of time to throw to first but since they called him out they don't bother. Replay shows he missed the bag. Is he still out or are both runners safe? I really think when Flowers was changing the ball and the umpire gave him a new one, that changed everything. I may be wrong. I do hope Flowers just throws it to 1B if that ever happens again.
  18. The grass looks good. A lot better than the Bears. I think the Bears will be better than oredicted this season, but right now they look like a candidate to be drafting first.
  19. The funny thing was they agreed with Hawk about every position except LF and Hawk did mention "with Gordon out". So postion wise it was at least really close, Hawk thinks the Sox have more talent, they might or might not, but he was absolutely correct in the execution part. If the Sox executed in KC, they probably win at least 2 if not all 3.
  20. I thought for sure they would overturn the call. I wonder if keeping him out had anything to do with the umpire taking the ball before Aybar was at 1B. Wouldn't it technically be dead and out of play? Flowers knew he didn't tag him. I hope in the future he throws to 1B anyway even if the batter is called out. Safe is better than sorry.
  21. Weren't the Nats the greatest collection of young talent ever put together, and they would dominate the game 18 months ago? What happened?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) I think the spin will be that if she didn't even want to be there, they can't sell the typical "she wanted it" line as part of any potential defense. Makes me wonder if the girl the guy that owned the bar said was all over Kane, was the friend.
  23. I guess Dombrowski isn not an analytics guy. How many will jump from the Dombrowski bandwagon? •New Tigers GM Al Avila spoke at length with Tony Paul of the Detroit News about his new position. While Avila didn’t want to get too in-depth about the differences between him and his friend/predecessor, Dombrowski, he did tell Paul that the Tigers’ front office will take more of an analytical approach to roster construction. “One thing I will bring different is expanded analytics,” said Avila. “I will tell you that I feel that we have a ways to go to catch up with the industry. We have been making some strides, but we’ll fast-forward a little bit and add to that department. You’ll see a big difference there.” However, Avila also stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between traditional scouting and the statistical component of player analysis. As Paul notes, the presence of J.D. Martinez on the Tigers can be chalked up to traditional scouting, and Avila played a huge role in bringing Martinez to Detroit.
  24. I guess the latest is the girl who is alleging this crime was not the person who wanted to go to Kane's home. Her friend was the one who really wanted to go.
  25. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 09:35 AM) I didn't say it NEVER effects the outcome of the game. They play 162 games. I thought the lack of fundamentals and the decision making were going to cost the White Sox the game... luckily it didn't. What other lack of fundamentals other than a guy making a mental error occurred? And pitching to David Murphy who was 2 for 10 vs. Robertson? Robertson was 8 for 10 against him. Sox win, Sox sweep. Complain about Robin. I really wonder why many so called White Sox fans just can't enjoy White Sox wins, but have to dissect everything to try to find something they can complain about. Enjoy the win. Enjoy the sweep. Hope for another. Dumb plays happen with every team, even teams with guys you think would be perfect managers. If you haven't noticed it, you aren't paying attention. I really think if the Sox were on the same roll Toronto is on, there would be complaints that it was not sustainable, they would come back down to earth, etc.
