Sox looking at building in South Loop
There is no way it's close to a done deal. As a White Sox fan who thinks the new park and location are pretty cool, and as a citizen of Chicago who already had to fund a couple of shortfalls with this tax, I would rather they reallocate the funds this tax creates when the GRF debt is supposedly retired in 2029. How about spending it on getting some of the 1500 cops lost they last 7 years replaced, and making it a better place to live? No new taxes, we have more cops would be a win.I get the TIF money is going to be spent by someone, but this thing is going to cost a s%*# ton more than that. If they say $9 million now, it's probably closer to at least $15 billion if it ever gets built. One potential funding source would be to use increases in property taxes to pay debt on the project, which also would likely require a change in the law.

so you think TIF money is going to be the ask? I'm saying they haven't even mentioned how it's going to be paid for yet, because they are going to be asking for more than anyone has ever asked for before probably times 3 or 4. All so a billionaire who hasn't put the fans anywhere near first the last decade and a half, can have more money when he dies. This will be so drawn out, unless JR and Related shock us all with tons of private financing. And we know that isn't going to happen. And even if it all means some other billionaire with get the funds, good. The State and City have already given JR billions if you think about it. If they don't built GRF, JR goes to Tampa? How would that of worked out? Plus he pisses so many people off, he sells the Bulls before their dynasty. I know its corny, but JR owes us something.

Grifol's pre-season opening thoughts...
I would like to ask Pedro when was the last time a team trying to win lost 100 games like his team did, during his only season as a manager.

All the new places being drawn up, look essentially the same outside the park. You can bet by the time this one is built, a new, cooler concept will be on drawing boards, leaving the Sox behind from the time it opens.

I'm guessing 9 or 10 years if all goes well. They might beat the Bears.

Grifol, Sox out to prove doubters wrong in 2024 (Merkin Optimism Series)
Ozzie would either be great for them, or make them worse. He was great for a lot of guys when he managed, but he killed Damaso Marte. Moncada and Eloy, who knows?

Crochet on starting...
They can trick him and all the people who say he should be a starter, and just let him be an opener. Pitch an inning or two and be done with it. Maybe he works himself up to 3 before he goes back on the IL with a sore shoulder, then we can do the exercise again next year.

Grifol's pre-season opening thoughts...
Over time, like about a week, it was clear Pedro was in way over his head. Now he's got an ego as well? He's managed 1 season, a team he said would win both sides of the ball, and go out with the attitude of kicking the opponents ass. He's 40 under .500. A total clown.

We had people shot in the park, and you can bet JR would love to have the ace in the hole that the shots came from the surrounding neighborhood if he's looking to move. Too bad he couldn't make that one stick.

Sox sign Corey Knebel and Dominic Leone to Minor League deals.
The Evil Knievel toy was one of the greatest ever invented.

Exactly, this is going to be a years long process. We just started the first inning and the White Sox hit a home run getting their fanbase interested and excited about the new location and new park. However, they have a crappy pitching staff and no bullpen, so they game is far from over. This was the easiest part for the Sox. The one thing they may have learned is unlike Comiskey Park, their fanbase has zero attachment to their current home. They may have thought there was at least some.

While I do find some of your comments off base, security is a growing concern, especially for a fanbase that looks for excuses not to go to games. Reality or not, Chicago has a reputation right now as being very dangerous. My company has a conference every year, and it's location is rotated. Every other year in Chicago, every other year, someplace else. Not anymore. People are afraid to come, so it won't be in Chicago for quite a while. Now lets not use any public money to hire the thousands of cops the city is short. No, give that money to Related and JR's heirs, they can really use it. They have this plot of land where everyone wants to party, yet can't get anything built unless you line their pockets..

the last couple of years, no translation necessary, Bummer.

San Francisco signs Jorge Soler to 3 year $42M deal
Soler is inconsistent but i did see something cool. SF's park is a HR cemetery but all his HR's in 2023 would have cleared their fences.,

Getz is operating differently and that's at least interesting
You get a pitcher who has some control issues, is only 2.5 years younger, and in AA. I get Burger will be 28 in April, but he's in his prime years, and they are going to be cheap. That should be right up the White sox alley.

This isn't a bad signing. Pitchers usually come back from capsule surgeries, and he's not rushed now.

Mlb.com Sox projected lineup and rotation is out
At first glance, the line up doesn't look half bad, then you realize, Beni10d is a punch and judy guy now, Moncada and Eloy are sure to get hurt, Vaughn usually spends half the season sucking, Fletcher has a little more than 100 career ABs, and Lopez, DeJong and Maldonado cannot hit. I wouldn't throw Robert a strike until the others show they can put runs on the board.

I’m all for biking and protected bike lanes.Shouldnt be too much of a cost. I will say though, the asshole car drivers don’t necessarily outnumber the idiot bike riders in Chicago. There are problems on both sides.

of course not, but if anyone is buying anything that comes out of his mouth after the difference of what he said it would be and reality last year, needs help. You are too gullible for your own good.

I think the whole thing gets serious when the parties decide to talk about how it gets paid for. I know many are saying this will be an economic home run for the city, but really? People will just be spending money there that they would have been spending in another neighborhood. That's what just about every study of a publicly funded stadium has ever shown. There are 2 entities that get rich on it, Related and the White Sox.

3 teams have a 0% chance at the playoffs per BP. The White Sox are one of them. Merkin has enough Kool Aide in his systemd to say he's not giving up on 24. I know mlb.com team beat guy is an ass kiss job, but he should be embarrassed by that one.

Yasmani Grandal to the Pirates
Yaz and his agent probably told them his legs feel better than they have in years. He may have a hot stretch in him, but I'd bet a lot of money this will be his last contract.

They can draw these things up and make them as nice as they want to make them look, the problem is, they cost a ton of money. They are saying the 78 development has a $9 billion price tag. If they build the drawings, you could bet it would be a lot closer to double that. And how much would it cost to fix the stadium for the Fire? These are pipedreams unless some private fund rich person or persons step way up.

They want to build where the Lucas Museum was supposed to go. Just south of Soldier Field. It will never happen. Its Arlington Heights or bust.

If the ISFA is still in existence when this is built, I would like them to alter the rent agreement that now gives them a break when they suck, and have it tied into wins. The more you win, the lower your rent. JR would never go for it.
