  1. If the Sox don't win this game is on Hahn for being a pitcher short.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 10:27 AM) Why are the Sox playing so many Sat afternoon games instead of early evening? It is sort of weird, but this is the last Saturday afternoon home game of the season. The rest are 6:10 starts. I like them. They did move the fireworks shows to Friday.
  3. QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 03:01 AM) Really? Conine was solid but never a "stud hitter" in my mind, a great 6-7 hitter in the lineup but never able to carry a lineup in the 3-4 hole. His 162 game average slash line was .285/.347/.443/.789 and he never hit more than 26 HRs in a season (even during the steroid era). I honestly believe that Coats could put up that type of production, maybe not his rookie season but given a full season of ABs I could see him eventually putting up a similar line. Coats is a 25 year old in AAA puttimg up a .720 OPS. How can one project him to put up a .790 at the highest level? If he does, I hope someone with the White Sox reads this and hires you to scout, and I am not kidding.
  4. I think Danks is 9-1 lifetime vs. kC and 6-0 at home with an ERA in the mid 2's. I wonder if they call him Cy Danks in KC.
  5. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) Where did you see this? I'm hoping he's not hurt. The Score is reporting it. Off day Monday would give him a 10 day break, just like skipping a start.
  6. It looks like even though he didn't pitch in the ASG, Sale still will sit out the entire KC series.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) I think that Frank Thomas is getting better and better at doing TV work. I wouldn't be against him as a color guy for the TV broadcasts. No doubt about it.
  8. When there is a conflict, the Bulls would be on the Loop 97.9 FM.
  9. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 16, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) So Dick, give us the final word. Good move, bad move? Who knows? It probably was the best deal out there, and it looks like JR used the Bulls to bring in max dollars, so the Sox are probably better off, but radio rights these days I don't think bring in very much. So I don't think it will make much difference in payroll.
  10. Why in the world would the White Sox want to "loan" Chris Sale or any other player to another team for them to abuse? Its the human equivalent of a rental car. Would anyone really ever want to buy a used rental car?
  11. And it's official. The Bulls are moving to WLS after next season as well.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 02:33 PM) I've never once been to Lawrence's applebees. Not ever even considered it actually. Too many local places to savor. I wouldn't have cared except for the issue being reported before the game. If he just hadn't pitched and we didn't know why that would have been fine. Although I would have wanted Sale to get revenge on Yost this weekend. Because KC is 18 over .500 and we are 4 under. Sox are not a threat to KC even if they win all 4. Sale is a big name in baseball. A lot of people notice when something like this happens. I'd have rather had a backdoor deal like this alleges than Robin and the Sox seeming like whiny people over this. I still want to know the reason if Sale doesn't pitch Friday. Again that is just as maddening. Danks is 8-1 with a 2.73 ERA lifetime vs. KC.
  13. Chris Sale gets over a week off, making him better prepared to finish the season in games that count. Perhaps even lowering his risk of injury. It's basically a timeout during the season. Why do people have a problem with this? Would you would rather watch Sale pitch 1 inning in a meaningless game, or have him actually pitch for the White Sox? And Greg, your stance is beyond crazy. When Ozzie managed the All Star team, he didn't play 4 White Sox players. If Ventura and Cooper are evil, what is he? Sale gets the honor of being an All Star, and still gets his in season "timeout". It's a win win.
  14. People complaining about Sale not pitching are mentioning his normal rest would put him on schedule for Sunday even if he pitched last night. The All Star break is good for extra rest. Why keep Sale on a normal schedule and risk it when you don't have to watch him for one inning in a game who really cares who wins, and the guy gets a break and actually winds up pitching an extra game or 2 the rest of the season
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 15, 2015 -> 12:11 AM) It sucks. It happens with pitchers. I think AJ was also the only position player that didn't play.
  16. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 07:17 PM) another moronic move by the sox organization. Yeah, Sale not pitching one inning in an exhibition game will probably set the organization back another 5 years.
  17. QUOTE (StL @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 06:01 PM) What are you some your favorite baseball CALLS/Commentary of all time? Maybe its also a great baseball moment...but what Im most interested in are calls you heard that you think were remarkable. What are a couple of your all time favorite calls? Some famous calls are... "The GAINTS IN THE PENNAN!!! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!!" "I don't believe....what I just saw!!" "In to deep left center...from Mitchell....And we will see you....tomorrow night." "Freese hits it in the air to center.........we will see you..........tomorrow night." "A swing and a miss. and that's a winner! That's a winner! A world series winner...for the cardinals!" "Smith corks one in to right down the line....it may go.....go crazy folks, go crazy!" What are some of your favorite calls? My favorite call was from about 1993 or so. The Sox were in Oakland on a beautiful afternoon. They just kept showing bikini clad ladies over and over, and the vast majority where very hot. About 7 innings of this goes on and Hawk finally says, " I'll tell you one thing about this camera crew in Oakland, Wimpy. Best beaver shooters in the league."
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) Chris Sale pitching one inning today, a day he would normally do a sidensession anyway, should not have an effect on Chris Sale pitching or not.this weekend. According to the White Sox manager and pitching coach, there is a possibility it does.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Trust me. Nobody is concerned about an advantage in a series against a lousy sox team. Hope sale gets the win tonite I know Ned Yost would be pretty happy to miss Chris Sale. Pitching him gives him a chance at that happening. Even if they White Sox lose 100 games, you never know if facing Sale vs. not facing him is a 1 game difference in KC's overall record, and how perhaps what that one game difference means to the Royals at the end of the season.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) Maybe, but going from lincoln park southwest to United Center is no peach either even compared to Berto Center. I live in the Gold Coast, about 5 minutes from Lincoln Park. Unless he's moving to the West Loop and walking to practice and the games, it really isn't going to be more than a 5 or 10 minute difference in his commute no matter where he goes.
  21. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) If I were Robin, I'd let Erik Johnson start after Shark on Friday and give Sale the ball on Sunday. I just don't see how Robin could just give one of these games away by putting in Danks. These are "must win" games, so a Danks should not pitch in this series. Danks has a pretty good track record vs. KC.
  22. So Noah is selling his Lincoln Park mansion. The real estate agent said proximity to work is his priority. Considering the Bulls now practice next to the UC, this is a bit confusing since he bought the home a year ago. Maybe he is getting dealt.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 14, 2015 -> 02:00 AM) This is crazy. Yost is not scared of the White Sox for goshsakes and not scared of Sale pitching for the White Sox. Sale happens to be a helluva pitcher and if I were the manager of the AL I'd f***ing want to pitch him as well. This is stupid. The Royals own the White sox no matter who is pitching. Why the hell would Yost care about the White Sox this weekend? Even if KC dropped all four, they'd be way ahead of the pathetic White Sox. I don't mind discussion but this one is just dumb. Yost is manager of the AL team and Sale is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. Of course he SHOULD pitch Tuesday. As a Sox fan and viewing I WANT him to pitch in the all star game. It has nothing to do with "being afraid of the White Sox". He has a 4 game series vs. the White Sox and Sale pitching the All Star Game may mean he doesn't have to face him which gives KC a better chance of winning a game. That isn't just the White Sox who would benefit, but each team in the division. It is probably very rare to have a 4 game series vs. Chicago and miss Sale. Maybe he won't, but Robin did mention perhaps holding Sale back until Tuesday if he did pitch.
  24. If it keeps him from pitching the Royals series, it's a very smart move.
  25. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) Is Jose hurt? What's the point of not playing him today otherwise? I know his hand has been bothering him.
