  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) In a tie game at home, absolutely Down one in the 9th, there is no chance for a save, and he could use the work. It is by the book.
  2. 10 pitch 1,2,3 inning vs. 3 guys who have hurt him. Good start.
  3. The A's called up that switch pitcher. Considering how many switch hitters there have been, I am kind of surprised there haven't been several more switch pitchers.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) The confusion may be that Detweiler literally came off the DL yesterday morning. Yes, and the White Sox announcers said they only had 1 lefty in the bullpen. I fell for it. I was glad they at least were all righty after the guy came in for Melky.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) Pretty sure Texas only has 1 lefty in the pen and he came in against Melky last night in the 7th Ross Detwiler didn't get in the game and he was warming up. He is a LH reliever. Here are the line ups. Check the bullpen https://twitter.com/ChiTribKane/status/606563887626878978
  6. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) So is pinch hitting to use match ups to your advantage. I thought when the leftie came in they said it was the only leftie in the pen. They did, but later they showed the other lefty warming up. Anyway, there is no way that is on Ventura. 2 runs in 10 innings would have been a win. They didn't hit when they needed to hit.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) The fact the Rangers have one leftie in the pen and our left handed hitters did not pinch hit last night still irks me. Especially for Ramirez or Cabrerra and probably should have for Beckham and FLowers as well Also if Ventura is only going to use Robertson in save situations, he has no need on the team and will get rusty more times than being sharp. Has he pitched in the last week? When he blows his next opportunity (ala Toronto after a week lay off) this can be the number one reason. Ventura is not getting better at his job. They actually had 2 lefties in their bullpen.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 11:52 AM) And not just bad. Bottom of the barrel bad. A guy who puts catcher as his occupation on his tax return and he cannot catch.
  9. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 11:44 AM) Why have a front office then? Reinsdorf can just have one his grandkids poll a message board. I think most were very happy with the White Sox acquisitions this past offseason. The team hasn't gelled yet, and maybe never will. But the decisions seemed fairly solid. There isn't a GM in baseball that hasn't made a few mistakes. The thought process here seemed pretty solid. I didn't agree with all of it. I was really against what they gave Duke, and couldn't understand waiting a year for Samardjiza. But if they are trying to win, and not waste Sale and Abreu's prime years, you have to take chances. Some usually don't work out. There still is time for these to work out.
  10. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) If Williams and Hahn are teflon, could they at least get rid of some scouts / advisors? Whoever thought that giving Melky Cabrera and Adam Laroche those deals was a good idea needs to be gone. There are teams with far better track records of seeing things that the White Sox obviously don't. Who was the last non-pitcher that they "hit" on? Everybody and their brother was in on Abreu, so I don't include him. There were people here who thought CarGo, Matt Kemp, and Jayson Heyward were good ideas. Sometimes it doesn't work. I really don't know the hate directed LaRoche's way. He's been doing pretty well lately. I am also sure Melky will rebound at least some.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 06:44 AM) Isn't Art Tellem Roses agent? He just joined pistons as an exec. BJ Armstrong is Rose's agent. Arn Tellem has been an agent for a long time. I once read where JR liked dealing with him. I guess that won't happen anymore.
  12. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) He's turned into Scott Downs. I'm still wondering why Robertson or Putnam weren't pitching in the 11th. I think they were saving Robertson if they had a lead, and Putnam must have been unavailable for some reason.
  13. You need good players to win. If the object is to have the #1 farm system, trade Sale and Abreu right now, and bam, the farm system will be ranked high. Whether you get the production in the future is a huge question. Trading Q seems a bit shortsighted. For what he gives you vs. what he gets paid, the prospects you get back would have to be very successful to match. The Sox know they have Sale, Q, and Rodon in their rotation for many years. That's a start any team would take. To mess that up and be looking for another starter to me makes little sense, unless you are getting an obvious overpay.
  14. Even if Melky has to hit RH, nic that Texas has to burn their only lefty in the pen in the 7th,
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) 10 swinging strikeouts, 9 coming on sliders. None called strike 3's. I believe that is proof he is "crisp"
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 08:34 PM) 7 Ks he isn't bad.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) Very happy he fell to 3 last year. (Not fell. More like, allowed to be baseball's Jordan). The season before the race to the worst record was the Carlos Rodon sweepstakes, i think at times teams jist out dumb themselves. Houston could have Bryant and Rodon on their roster. BTW Steve Stone, that is an obvious error.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) He's actually doing quite well vs LHP these days. How many lefties have the White Sox faced? How would you feel about his chances vs, David Price?
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 07:51 PM) There's almost a Newtonian law on this board whenever you get too belligerent or bellicose (this bullpen is nails! Rodon is crisp) that something bad will happen next. You know, Martinez also struck out the side yesterday in the 2nd when he gave up all those runs. Can't you ever just say you were wrong? BTW. No runs scored.
  20. 4 ks in a row for the not crisp Rodon. I womder what will happen if he ever is crisp.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) Tigers lose. 28-27 They go 2-4 vs the A's this season. And KC has the fewest innings out of their starters in the major leagues. Their bullpen is going to be taxed as the season goes on. All the teams in the Central are flawed. The Sox are still in it if they can play anywhere near their potential.
  22. Last game of an 11 game roadtrip seems like it could be ripe for a flat performance. Hopefully they will get a lead and go with it, then beat up Detroit this weekend.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:08 PM) 7-5 A's. 1 out, bases cleared in the bottom of the 9th. Joba is having a pretty good year. Are the Sox the only team that lit him up?
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) Yes, but I don't bring that to every single thread. You do. This is really simple. Another team loses a game and you use that as an excuse to bring it in. The White Sox score a run and its an excuse to bring things in. I literally don't even want to comment in "winner threads" because you're just going to troll me every time we win a game. You literally don't go into Sox winner threads because there is actually something positive in them.
