  1. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 16, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) Whose show is he on? I'll check it out. Mully and Hanley I don't catch him often but the two times I have he brings some very valid points as to how this rebuild has gained zero traction. He has no blind cubbie faith which is odd for any cubs beat writer.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 16, 2014 -> 10:42 AM) Had to turn on the AC earlier this week and now it's snowing. Record high of 93 last week, sigh.......
  3. Gordon Wittenmeyer, Sun Times cubs beat writer when on the SCORE is a must listen.
  4. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ May 13, 2014 -> 03:02 PM) Just over-throwing then? Too many pitches too young? What would be your guess? All you need to look at it youth baseball and when kids begin throwing breaking pitches that are not change ups. Not to mention the number of innings they throw.
  5. I was out of from Friday until yesterday and watched a little of the 9th and thought that was him pitching.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 12, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) He's a fantastic actor IMO. Does he put up somebody to fight and does that person then fight Jamie?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 1h Thurs starter Scott Carroll (1-1, 0.68) is 3rd ChiSox to allow 1 ER or less in each of first 2 career games (Kip Wells '99, Fred Klages '66) I was at the Fred Klages game or maybe it was the Kip Wells game........either way the NFL draft is boring. I know there is hoopla to it but I think those folks are a little hard up for things to occupy their time.
  8. Why can't the Sox draft him? Long term does this really change anything? He most likely wasn't going to pitch after the college season which ends in a few weeks. He will be back pitching by June of next year. He has no leverage and unless he will red shirt next year and stay another, college is done. Grab him at three for well under slot money and go from there. He sounds ideal for the cubs actually at 4.
  9. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 7, 2014 -> 01:32 PM) I agree, and I wish they'd filter through to put more "smart" fans on the air. They do get the idiots on there, and most of them deserve to be blasted. When B and B actually talk hard core sports, they talk it at a very high level. They know how to watch a game. How many really intelligent people are calling into radio talk shows though? Dan Bernstein is obsessed with telling people what they have to do and how they have to watch when it comes to sports. I like watching college basketball more than pro as well as college football over pro. In the world of Dan Bernstein that makes me a moron because pro is inherently better than college. In reality I like watching my kids succeed in sports more than I do any athlete on the plant.
  10. Gillaspie can stay on the DL until tomorrow and then they can activate him.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 7, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) well, Feeky tells you so too that is where I got the stat from. Ruined all my fun watching Tyler Flowers.
  12. The problem I am having with Dan Bernstein is that I picture him watching a game, seeing the result and then looking at the advanced stats to see if he should be happy with the result. I like sports I really do but at the end of the day the s*** that seems to now go back and forth now a days takes away from the enjoyment. I want to like Avasail Garcia but I can't because he hits too many ground balls and not enough fly balls. Sports are entertainment, tanking with the hope that in five years everything will be roses and p****cats mystifies me. That would be like taking a television away from someone that really likes television by telling them in four years, they may get the mother of all televisions. I get that it is a business and teams do things with the bigger picture in mind but I want my three hours of daily entertainment. That is all I seek from sports. At the end of the day my life is no better the following morning after a teams win or lose. This goes for the fall of 2005 as well. For some reason advanced statistics are doing the same thing for me. I can't enjoy Tyler Flowers, why...his BABIP tells me he will suck from now until mid-July. The stats tell me so. Rizzo and Abreu are having good starts. Rizzo has been a round for a few yeas Abreu for a month. THAT IS THE f***ING STORY NOT RUNS CREATED V WOBA or whatever the f*** he is talking about..
  13. Should have watched sox instead of hawks. Reading game thread I really want to see the pitch tracker. If zone was that bad it explains the swings at the sliders.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2014 -> 12:34 PM) That would make the most sesne. Regionally I can see it being done but not country wide.
  15. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) So which US city ends up bailing out the IOC and organizes an Olympics in less than 2 years? Los Angeles
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2014 -> 12:20 PM) That is pretty awesome. David Kaplan ‏@thekapman 28m Scott Carroll: “My family + I (35 in all) went to dinner at Timothy O’Toole’s to celebrate + Adam Dunn picked up tab. It was so awesome." The awesome part is they went to the bar/pub for dinner. That is a solid move by Dunn.
  17. The cubs did not play in Wrigley until 1916 so another"celebration" in 2016. What a shot show.
  18. Sitting in a Detroit hotel room listening on wgn, hell ya.
  19. Good win I was 30 feet behind semien's homer.
  20. SITTING. IN LF RIGHT NOW NEED TO SAY THE White sox are still a dumb team
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 22, 2014 -> 12:17 PM) We aren't talking about hall of fame, we are talking about COY Pop has the best team in a far superior conference. The 8th seed in the west had a better record than the Bulls. Let's not sit here and pretend the Bulls could compete in the western conference as they could not.
  22. Time for the Felipe paulino era to come to an end.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 02:34 PM) The most puzzling in-game move by the Sox was not throwing a 2 strike offspeed pitch to Sizemore in the 9th. Instead, they kept calling for high fastballs. In a spot where you want either a strike out or ground ball, I thought the pitch selection was ridiculous. Having Cleto throw anything other than a fastball was stupid. Through two games you can see the Red Sox will take pitches so to try and surprise them with the change ups and other s*** Cleto could not get close to the plate was ridiculous.
  24. I believe they can DFA him and pull him back if claimed. Can this be used for a fresh arm in the pen for a day or two. If he clears waivers he can then be sent down.
  25. The world series game had pitchers batting kind of a big difference. You should not run out of pitchers in an American League extra inning game. 1. The Sox need a long reliever 2. Webb should have pitched the 8th and Lindstrom the 9th 3. Cleto should not have pitched the 9th It would have been a nice game to win. The walks meant nothing. Ventura tried to get cute with the LHH/LHP match-ups. Farrell messed up by pitching to Ramirez. Oh and De Aza sucks.
