GT: 8/21 Spoiler Alert Pt. 2
The white sox starting rotation could be seven deep all winter. Danks is turning into a more efficient pitcher. This off season is going to be interesting. If they take a flyer on Floyd there are moves to make. Rienzo has a mentality you enjoy to watch, he battles.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 21, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) Hell on Wheels is back? AMC has done a terrible job marketing it. I had no idea and I enjoyed the first 2 seasons. Saturday nights started night before Breaking Bad Pretty solid start

Sale 6th in baseball in WAR
Wouldn't a team of all 0 WAR players hypothetically go 81-81. Everyone is completely average? A WAR of 0 means you are average not that you suck. The Median for this stat, not the average is 0. Thus if every player had a WAR of 0, they would be average in every aspect of the game. Throw a player of 10 WAR on this team and now they are at 86 wins. This was the early 2000's Red Sox with Pedro Martinez.

2013-2014 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) Imagine being a Badger fan and having to see that stare 2 games every week. At one point I was watching the only 2 teams that refused to use the shotgun. It was as if I was living in a different decade of football. Get off the bus running

2013-2014 NFL Thread
I know this is going to sound meatheadish but I like seeing a coach with the big stupid laminated card, even if had nothing to do with anything it is much better than the blank stare at the scoreboard we grew accustomed to.

2013 Cubs catch all thread
Maybe the Padres got the better end of the Rizzo deal. Rizzo and Starlin Castro are not looking like the building blocks they needed.

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2013 -> 08:28 AM) Except for a projected .270's/.280's average (compared to .320's), Viciedo was expected to be the same kind of impact bat and questionable plate discipline/walks/OBP....that Dayan contract was ONLY $10 million and it was the biggest and most unique of its kind back at that time (post 2008). This guy doesn't have questionable plate discipline though, he has a slower bat. Plate discipline makes a huge difference in a hitter.

Do you know MLB rules?
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) Agreed, the at-bat was completed, the wild pitch caused the run to score, so the count was irrelevant. He still gets the RBI though.

I see nothing wrong with trying to maximize the benefit of those games. The Nashville Department of Tourism is probably not too happy about it.

Anybody Found The Last Couple Days Easier to Watch?
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 15, 2013 -> 12:51 PM) Last time I watched a full game was Saturday, but then there isn't much else to watch from Section 113. I was one section over from you. I find myself watching more recently as the season is over and I just enjoy baseball.

2013 TV Thread
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) That was an intense episode of Breaking Bad. A great way to start the final episodes. The flash forward at the beginning seems like quite a bit of time had elapsed. The neighbor's reaction to "Hello Carol" led me to believe either Walt was thought to be dead or he's being sought for his crimes. It'll be interesting to see how everything plays out. I'm also looking forward to starting Low Winter Sun. Has anyone watched it yet? The house being trashed lead me to believe something big has to go down. A house does not fall apart that quickly if they move out. The thing is, does Walt have six months to live?

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
Any chance Torres used the sox history to inform them abreu could be an option. If Torres represents him the sox should be in play.

Adam Dunn cleared waivers
Adam Dunn is no longer waiting for walks and has become a very good hitter because of it. Great atbats all day today.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 02:17 PM) Maybe they are going to reinvest money into adding more scouts? Or one of these academies I hear other teams have? I know that's not 60 million dollars but, I think they can spend the money without people seeing it outwardly. Sox have an academy in Venezuela and the Dominican already I believe.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) Except that the Astros are going to claim just about any pre-arb player on any other team's 40 man roster. I believe it cost $25,000 to claim a player thus there is no real reason for the Astros to do that as they would be giving $25,000 away.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) Sox could spend $50 mil this offseason w/o needing a starter. Not abad place to be. Except there are not the players out there to get.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) So you are saying you dont want a player, for no reason at all? Rated Fastest Baserunner in the Texas Rangers system after the 2009 seasonRated Best Defensive Infielder in the Texas Rangers system after the 2009 seasonRated Best Infield Arm in the Texas Rangers system after the 2009 seasonRated Best Infield Arm in the Texas Rangers system after the 2010 seasonRated Fastest Baserunner in the Texas Rangers system after the 2010 seasonRated Fastest Baserunner in the Texas Rangers system after the 2011 seasonRated Best Infield Arm in the Texas Rangers system after the 2011 seasonRated Fastest Baserunner in the Texas Rangers system after the 2012 seasonRated Best Infield Arm in the Texas Rangers system after the 2012 season So he is fast and has a good arm. Sounds like he would be a great college quarterback.

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
Doesn't the player on the Rangers 40 man that needs to clean waivers only have to get past the Astros. We discussed this earlier in the thread. If the Astros pass on the player, the Sox claim him and all is done, correct?
-
Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
I love that the White Sox have all of this money to spend. Here is the problem, what are they going to spend it? This trade flys in the face of everything Hahn has professed since the Peavy trade. This is a pure salary dump of a player that was actually earning his money.
-
Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
If you give up Rios you will pay more to replace him. Make the Rangers take 85% of the salary and the Sox get a Top 5 player and another Top 20 prospect and it is a deal. Look at what Swisher got this past offseason. Not sure why the Rangers would claim him, they knew the asking price nine days ago and it should not go down.
-
Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
As Dick said. If the Rangers put a player on waivers and Houston does not claim them, the Sox do, and then they make the trade. I believe a team has to pay $25,000 to claim a player as well. Sox are not giving Rios away.

White Sox 2x Comeback Winner !
How f***ing ironic would it be if the Sox drafted third and the cubs fourth because of the cubs sweep.
