  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 01:50 PM) LOL Bernstein just got owned so he hung up on the guy and said "kiss my ass". Oh ya, please do tell.
  2. Isn't Phil Rogers the Baseball Perspective guru for minor league evaluations for the Chicago teams and the current reason why the Sox minor league system is lambasted as much as it is? I thought I heardthis a couple of years ago. The man loves his cubs and is a f***ing moron.
  3. Cliff Stein will make this all work. Arguably the best in the business at managing the cap.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) Really? Do you Really think this? I believe the bulls are nowhere near competing with a healthy heat team.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) Compared to the first year they did this, the quality of play they're getting from the non-incredible teams is impressive. Whether we pay attention or not, it seems like the WBC is seriously helping improve international baseball and probably interest in baseball internationally as well. 33% of Japanese households watched their last game. All other countries follow it as well but the babying of pitchers in the USA will keep it from actually being cool.
  6. Now the rest of the season is a formality. Seedings and records mean nothing for the playoffs. Roll the four lines rest the stars and be prepared for the playoffs. Hockey regular season is a step above mlb spring training in determining how the playoffs will flush out. It was exciting but means nothing if bounced in round one.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Mar 8, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) If I owned property within a mile Wrigley I'd have to think seriously about unloading it. I think moving is a real threat and the day they announce it, property values are going to drop like a rock. Might as well start calling it South Uptown. The cubs need that niche more than that neighborhood needs the cubs.
  8. Is it just me or is this Rose injury thing really getting strange. They are not going to beat the Heat, nobody is. So is he just quitting until maybe they can in a couple of years. When LeBron agreed to go to South Beach all hopes for other teams died.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2013 -> 10:28 AM) Paul Sullivan ‏@PWSullivan Cubs announce new marketing campaign with the slogan '"'Committed." No, I did not make that up. Is Denis Savard a new ambassador.

In regard to snow day child care. Whether school is called at 6 PM or 6 AM it is best to have a plan in place. "Oh they may cancel school tomorrow, what should we do." It is not like school is closed and there was no warning whatsoever. CPS does not cancel school for this very reason, the parents can not get people to watch their kids.

Except for the brain-dead comedies (BBT, MF, Office,) I do not even think about network television any longer.
  12. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Mar 4, 2013 -> 04:57 PM) By cracky! The new soundbite with the slidehorn does make me chuckle. The love for the NBA on B&B is only rivaled by it on ESPN. You would think that he NBA has never existed before with them telling me how absolutely fantastic the NBA is now a days. I used to watch the NBA, now I can't stand it, not sure why but it does nothing for me now.
  13. Perfect example of Bernstein was yesterday at the end off the show when they were talking to Shuster about Crawford backing up emery. Concussions are Bernstein's new Penn state. Crawford did not sustain a concussion yet Bernstein would not let it go. The whole segment was him whining. Crawford left the game and is now back that's it. Neither guy is well versed in hockey so the talk is limited. Instead we get to be told how dumb we are if we do not realize how simply fantastic the NBA is.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 1, 2013 -> 03:11 PM) Kazmir pitching Come from the land of ice and snow.
  15. Case in point about B&B is currently there is no discussion to be had about he Bulls in their mind yet they are continuing ot have it. We all know the B&B think the Bulls are in basketball hell. Yes they are. We all know that the Bulls are not going to beat the Heat as currently constructed if the Heat is healthy. There is a debate if you'd like about how good the Bulls really are and comparable to other teams where would they be. This conversation can not be had on that show.
  16. Sadly the way to beat B&B would me to get a personality in there like they had with Mac. CJH is unlistenable. Jurko adds credence to a show as he played the sport at the highest level and has some local flair as well. He can give you the real locker room stuff that a guy like Bernstein says is hyperbole because it can not be substantiated. The fighting in hockey discussion is the type of thing that turns me off to B&B as well as how the game of baseball is now about WAR and less about he actual game. Bernstein is trying to make the show more erudite than it should be. Boers adds nothing. ESPN oughta give North a shot with Jurko at least it is soemthing. I spend 2 plus hours a day commuting. I love Howard Stern.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Ehh....we hope. Those strikeouts could be a quick mechanism for making him come out lower than .700 OPS. He's got to actually be hitting HR to overcome that, since he'll almost certainly have a low average. If teams can figure out how to keep him from going deep... He has the ability to work a count and make the pitcher throw strikes.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 28, 2013 -> 11:52 AM) I remember because I was part of the discussion. People wanted him gone. Luckily we have archives. The game vs. Toronto right before the asb was rock bottom. Good place to see just how much the opinion on Flowers has apparently changed a lot in short time. That is a lot different than speculation that he would be cut.
  19. This has nothing to do with the thread but I just wanted to remind everyone. Phil Rogers is a f***ing idiot. The SCORE now has him on in the morning in the middle of my commute.
  20. Any word or tweets on how Nestor did?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) The Yankees miss the playoffs this year. You heard it here first. Couple guys on MLBN agree with you. Too much talent in that division
  22. Listening yesterday was good. A win no matter is always better than a loss......except at the end off the season when you are out of it.
  23. QUOTE (oldsox @ Feb 24, 2013 -> 10:43 AM) Any objective baseball fan would say that Sabean has the edge. Look at his credentials, his record. But it was not a rip. Just a comment. Hahn's regime has lost less than Sabean's.
  24. Why doesn't hockey eliminate all contact with the head. It is not like football where the essence of the game is to get the other player to the ground. You hit a guy in the head, automatic 5 games.
