  1. Bet this pitcher doesn't make it through 4 on Tuesday. Blows 88 MPH fastballs by people. Really sad display of offense. It seems any Sox pitcher that rolls along like that somehow gets dinged up eventually (Danks v. Boston) while the Sox most likely will not reach base again tonight.
  2. Looks like the Uribe nice streak has come to an end offensively and defensively.
  3. Nice job Thorton. Think the Sox will face more then 7 pitches this inning.
  4. Do the Sox have advanced scouts?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) Gavin's been throwing low fastballs to Cust all night that he's fouled off. He has to be careful this AB with him, as Cust has been just barely behind on that pitch. Great call. Cust is another of those s*** players that kills the Sox. This game is on the offense inabilty to do anything that has allowed the A's to stay in this game.
  6. That really is as much Floyd and AJ as Uribe.
  7. I have never seen a f***ing team miss simple pop-ups like this team.
  8. Wow is this game getting shaky. Braden at a whole 70 pitches through 6. Nice job making him almost kind of work.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) His 2 homers in the same game against Matt Cain is one of the more odd stat lines this season. I'll go with at the time the Alexi Ramirez v. Dirty Sanchez game.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) These hitters continue to chase that change-up that's way off the plate. You say that like it is something new?
  11. The mantra of the A's, Red Sox and Yankees is to make a pitcher work and look for a certain pitch and then simply make contact on a 2 strike pitch. The mantra of the White Sox is to jump after he first pitch close.
  12. With a 3 run lead there is no reason to give away outs in the 2nd inning. Oh and the last 3 seconds of that Phelps race are probably going to be shown for the remainder of my lifetime among Olympic highlites. I am 37.
  13. Ok so somebody needs to pitch next Tuesday and it can't be Broadway as he can't return until the 25th. So it is Richard because he is left handed and I suppose the Mariners do not hit lefties all that well and Broadway gets hit pretty good by lefties. I thought Broadway did a nice job and should be given another start. Not sure I agree with this line of thinking but I was not a big Broadway fan coming into yesterday. Who knows.
  14. Stepped out a few minutes and all hell broke lose. That is the way to blow a team out. Broadway with the second lowest starters ERA.
  15. I like Jim Thome for what he has now become, an accessory not a focal point.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) How does Davies have 7 strike outs today? It seems that the offense has been unable to really put a game away.
  17. Wow at the wasted opportunities today.
  18. This game has turned into one of those games that are stolen away. The offense needs to produce as the bullpen will have to go at least three innings.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) I like Swisher a lot, but his numbers are down, and his OPS+ is 100, which is average, also his slugging is a lot lower than Jim's at .412. Still, Swisher tore it up in June and is playing CF basically full time. I expected more from him this year, but hopefully he will continue to see a ton of pitches and contribute down the stretch Swisher should be starting and Griffey and Konerko should be platooning. Swisher's versatility should get him the consistent at-bats. I again will state that Broadway's day is nice regardless as the defense has let him down.
  20. The bad defense is so magnified now as it has made Broadway throw about 20 extra pitches.
  21. Braodway can't put guys away. Way too many 6+ pitch at-bats.
  22. The sadder thing is that Konerko is batting 6th thus killing any opportunity for Ramirez to bat with runners on. Thome gets a pitch to if Captain Useless isn't behind him in that situation.
  23. I hate Orlando Cabrerra but I think he could use a day off every now and again.
  24. I'd rather see Anderson and Swisher out there as oppossed to Griffey and Konerko. I guess Ozzie believes AARP will not let him in if he makes such a move.
