Before the season, if you would have told me the following would happen: Crede gets hurt and Fields loses out on the starting 3B job to Juan Uribe Brian Anderson splits backup CF duties w/ someone named Dewayne Wise DJ Carrassco becomes the team's 5th starter when Count goes down ...I would have thought you were completely insane. I'm also disappointed that the '03,'04, and '05 1st round picks couldn't grab the aforementioned spots. Anderson and Broadway are up now, so they can still contribute.

Suskind:White House ordered CIA to back-dated letter
Chet Lemon replied to FlaSoxxJim's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) It is, but it's also the modern media frenzy, who are looking for anything, everything, to hang on GWB (or to manufacture news, whatever way you want to say it). QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 10:21 AM) Ahh yes, everything's a conspiracy. -
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) Yeah, but I kind of doubt the dems are too worried about losing the Senate. Of course losing Bayh's seat in the Senate would not lose control of the Senate for the Dems, but they are making a huge push to get the highest number possible over 50.
-
Choosing Bayh carries some risk from the Democrats' perspective. If Gov. Daniels is re-elected in November, he will name Bayh's replacement in the Senate, which will be a Republican.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) He was also a big time Hillary person in the primary campaign. So was Bayh. Which is part of the idea: pacify Hillary supporters and amplify their enthusiasm for the candidate that beat theirs in the primary. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) 1) Obama doesnt need him to win PA I still never understand why pudnits assert that all presidential candidates choose their running mates based on winning their home states. Bush clearly didn't need Cheney to win Wyoming. Kerry didn't pick Edwards to win his Senate state North Carolina or his birth state, South Carolina. Ditto Dole and Kemp. Ditto Dukakis and Bentsen. They knew their running mates' home states were unwinnable. Gore didn't choose Lieberman cuz he thought he would lose Connecticut without him. Ditto Bush and Quayle.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) Twins have been without Neshek, Cuddyer, and Liriano for most of the season, and their catalyst Casilla is now out. This is where having players in your minors that can come up and contribute right away is extremely important. Not to mention they were counting on Bonser to get the job done as a starter this year.

What the hell happened to our pitching/defense?
Chet Lemon replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wasn't that surprised when the starting pitching declined (especially Contreras), but I didn't imagine the bullpen and defense sucking this much. -
I wonder why we don't hear Ed Rendell's name mentioned more as a possible running mate for Obama.
-
QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 08:08 AM) Lets forget about the Twins Series for a second. We sweep them in a 4 game set in Chicago, and we won 3/4 in Minny. Yea! F those pessimists who say they only won 1 out of 4 in Minny.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) In fact all the negativity from a few Obama supporters has dropped the care factor to beyond zero. What was left of my hope for Obama has deteriorated into an active desire to see him lose. You are so hypersensitive to attacks against McCain "from a few Obama supporters." Yet any attacks hurled at Obama from McCain supporters do not harm McCain.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 02:54 PM) Not that Edwards. The other Edwards. Dallas Morning News backing Pelosi's month-old suggestion.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) Am I the only one who really hates that "Flip flopping" is considered a bad thing? Nope. Ahhnold beat you to it. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hmwkMSz...QYurlAD91T69580

The road game

If Linebrink is DL'd and nobody is immediately brought in via trade, then I would like to see Childers get a shot, at least temporarily. I know his track record has not been good, but it is hard to argue against a 0.74 WHIP over 43.1 IP.

Dumpster picked over Hamels. Moves like that ensure the NL will lose a 12th straight All Star game.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) Its not like he's eating everyone's playing time. But he is eating everyone's delicious clubhouse snacks!

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) he's just like the rest of them, except the man is eloquent and can deliver a speech. Big deal. Except he is not. He was against the war in Iraq before that position was vogue, and that position was incredibly risky (politically speaking).

Danks was a no-brainer for me. MB has been excellent as of late too.

I checked the standings today, and the Sox are in first place. Stop whining.

Random question: What is the Sox record in games when the Sox hit less than two home runs?

Comical trade proposal from a NY Post writer involving the Sox
Chet Lemon replied to wbicker2424's topic in Pale Hose Talk
In addition to the whole other raft of problems with the proposal, Thome would not be able to play 1b after both Swisher and Konerko depart. -
His defense is almost as impressive as his slugging pct. has since being traded last July.

Is there anyway we could trade Uribe to Baltimore? I looked at Baltimore's depth chart, and their starting SS is Freddie Bynum. This idea seems to make perfect sense b/c Uribe will be happy starting every day and the Sox will be happy to move him.
