Robin Ventura sacrifice bunted with the 3 hitter in the 7th inning
shipps replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) Shuck did have one of the two White Sox hits and did hit the ball pretty hard right at the SS. Don't let facts get in the way. Bunting Melky was questionable, but not the fireable stupid offense many want to make it out to be. As soon as it was successful, the strategy was a non issue. Frazier screwed up. They were conceding the run. He couldn't even get a ground ball. DA, the thought of firing Robin doesn't come just because of one mistake. Collectively its been a few years of him making poor managerial decisions and each individual bad decision becomes magnified now because it has added up in our memory. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 31, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) I saw what looks to be a knock off of the Green Egg, called the Komodo. Anyone have one of these? So I have been looking into these and they seem to have good reviews everywhere. Only $320 for smoker and grill is a great price. There were a lot of reviews on amazon and they gave it 4 1/2 stars and most people gushed over how much they love the thing. I think I may just buy one.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 08:04 AM) One of Mully and Hanley's producers thinks that the Cubs would struggle to win a WC with Ventura as manager because they are so young still. LOL. That team would win 95 games still. That's Dustin Rhodes who is a complete idiot. He says things just to get a reaction as if he is some radio sports shock jock but in reality he is just a producer who gets very little real air time. If he ever got more time on air it would be a travesty. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 08:24 AM) They don't have the talent, at least should be unwilling to surrender the talent, but they do have LaRoche's cash. When half the season's paychecks are cashed, his $13 million becomes an ability to stay at projected opening day payroll and acquire $26 million in salary. Plus, the longer you wait, the availability should increase as well. The other thing is, you can wait on Shields. If Latos and/or Gonzalez fail, and he's the only option, fine. But they shouldn't be in a rush to acquire him. I realize that but my point is that they arent going to be able to go out there and get anything more than a bad contract guy with what seem to be declining skills. We are only in the position to take someone off another teams hands because they don't want that player anymore. Usually, you dont wind up with a whole lot when you are forced to make those kind of moves. I am with you on waiting to see what happens with Gonzalez and Latos and being in no rush to just go and take on someone's contract.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 08:12 AM) No to Jay. Sheilds, they would have to eat a bunch of cash. Latos has looked decent his last couple of starts. Velocity picking up a tick and he is striking out more guys, but the long ball is a problem. That is a problem with Shields as well. Bartolo took him deep. Gonzalez has been decent as well. Lucky in some cases, but decent. As long as they show some life, I see no reason to pick up Shields. If Latos hadn't been better his last 2 outings, I could see it, but not now. Keep waiting for something better to open up. If either of these guys goes back to gas can, Shields should still be available for next to nothing. I am with you on this logic but I think the Sox are in a position to only get guys like Shields. We dont have the talent to trade for anything better and the couple guys we do have that may be able to get something bigger done would leave the farm empty. Now I am not sure that is something the Sox are afraid to do either actually. I think they realize what they are in evaluating talent through the draft and they are overall better at what they believe in selling high on their minor league guys for major league talent then they are at drafting and developing guys that help them down the road.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 07:40 AM) OT Jake Long working out with the Bears today. Is he any good these days?

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 04:25 PM) Haha wow. As pessimistic as this game thread is, I peeked at the Mets one and they're all ready to hang themselves. Thats the nature of game threads. Lowest level of baseball talk there is. I am not knocking it, its just full of emotion so its usually not insightful.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) or they messed up the double switch due to Avi being up sooner. fire Robin

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) I knew Eaton was slumping, but man have his numbers dropped. Probably not a coincidence that the Sox struggled as he has slumped.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:26 AM) Was it being speculated? Those guys don't really break news like that. Not calling you a liar, just curious about context. They were talking about it like it was fact but I am not sure where they got it from. When he said it I was thinking damn, that I havent heard yet.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:19 AM) Who said that? I believe it was Hanley who mentioned it.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) Absolutely not when you factor in cost. I haven't read this whole thread and I'm sure there are plenty of creative proposals in here about getting San Diego to kick in half the money. I just don't want to go anywhere near Shields. I think he is bad and he is going to get worse. On the radio this morning they were saying the Padre's will pay $38mil of Shields contract but that the Sox want Jay in the deal too. TIFWIW
-
QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) Wish I had been around to get this on record a week ago before he got shelled, but I wouldn't be in favor of a Shields acquisition under almost any circumstances. He is not good anymore. What if they also give up Jon Jay? He isnt great but he would be a left handed bat that we could use. Plus I think we would all rather have Shields instead of Latos?
-
I havent looked at his stats at all for this year but I assuming they arent as bad as todays game which you are basing your opinion on for whether or not to trade for the guy?

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 31, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) I know why you need a cosigner but why the f*** would a bank care if the person cosigning was not a spouse or significant other. If a cosigner is is credit worthy and would get approved his or herself then why the f*** does it matter? Probably because even though that person is putting their credit on the line by co-signing it is still riskier in their eyes to have it be a non spouse (less responsibility to take over payments)? I dont know, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 31, 2016 -> 12:04 PM) I really, really, dislike pot luck lunches. We have a big, spread out department and no one really knows everyone. They are awkward and I don't really trust the cooking that was brought here 5 hours ago. If I die it is the potato salad. LOL I used to love them when I was young and stupid because it was like free buffet time but now I cant stand them. I dont know if something I am going to eat is going to have me running to the toilet an hour later so I dont even participate in these anymore. One thing that I like that we have done in my office is have a potluck day that we all order out from somewhere and have it delivered fresh. This works out pretty well and I am all in when we do this.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 30, 2016 -> 10:56 PM) So uh, anyone got any idea about what happens when your eyesight starts flickering in and out? I hope you went to the ER.

Just get one damn win and take it from there....jeez this losing is getting really old.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 27, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) Sadly enough I think I actually sub consciously picked up that writing style from Gage. Good god, that's sad to think about. Wow I am reading this after I made my post. Jason subconsciously has way too much influence on us.
-
LOL I have been doing that a lot lately too. I probably picked that up from Jason(unknowingly of course).

QUOTE (Tex @ May 27, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) It makes sense and would happen anywhere there are military bases. There are several military bases here. A lot of our students come from military families. Of course those already in the military cheer a welcome especially if it is in their branch. There weren't too many University of Oregon alum or Brown alum in the crowd to cheer when those schools are announced. The biggest cheer was for a top ten ranked kid who was going to the Air Force Academy on a football scholarship. That's the Texas trifecta. Football, College, and the Military. Thats fair. I guess its just that I can see my Aunt and Uncle having that same mentality and they do not live on a military base. A lot of my opinions of Texas are based off of my family who lilves in the Austin area and what I see on social media and foxnews with most of it not being good. But I digress, I dont want to take make this buster material.

QUOTE (Tex @ May 27, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) Personally I wish it wasn't a school holiday here. I would love to plan lessons based around Memorial Day. San Antonio is a major military city, last night the kids that were announced as joining received bigger applause than the kids who received half million dollar scholarships. See, I may be wrong in this but that is the type of thing that makes me roll my eyes at Texas.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 27, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) Just an awful, awful line-up structure. In some ways he is just realigning chairs on the Titanic. They have to right this ship by getting better production out of everyone in the lineup no matter how its aligned.
