  1. Lofton showed last year he can still play... I'd love to see him signed and Uribe dumped.
  2. These was probably a tryout, and his severe lack of velocity and stuff was not able to net him a spot in the pen. Russell is better anyway.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) If that was the only issue, this wouldn't be a question. Nobody here really gives a s*** about the actual terrorists, for all I care you could put them all in a room and gas them to death but it's really not that simple. Plus it's not like we're giving rights to terrorists. What it means is that we can't hold onto people indefinitely for no reason in a virtual black hole and just cite "national security" as the reason. What if an American was in the same situation somewhere else? Wouldn't we be kinda pissed off? Let me tell you - believe it or not - not everyone in detention is a terrorist. I know that's kinda hard to believe for a lot of people but it's true. And I'm telling you this first-hand. Hey, we're not decapitating these guys on the internet for everyone to see. These prisoners should consider themselves lucky.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) So you really feel like MSNBC is as far to the left as Fox is to the right? Their evening lineup is something like Abrams, Olbermann, Matthews. Matthews sometimes leans left, but is unreliable enough that Media Matters went after him a couple years ago as their misinformer of the year. On the Fox news lineup, you have Brit Hume, Neil Cavuto, Boll O'Reilly, Hannity and Colmens, and Greta van susteren. And I'm not an expert about MSNBC's morning programming, or their "Hard news" programming either, but Joe Scarborough (former Republican Congressman) still seems to host a show in the morning, while Steve Doocy and the Brown haired guy who's not Steve Doocy clearly come at things from the right on Fox...and at least from my perspective, Fox News's "Hard news" reporting has been amongst the most skewed parts of their network. Do you disagree? Don't even get me started on O'Reilly, this whole election season he has pretty much babied Obama, Hilary, and McCain. He isn't the same guy he was a couple years ago. From watching his latest shows, I can't even tell if he's GOP anymore.
  5. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) i think the court made the right decision. we can't just lock people up in some base in Cuba without a trial they aren't just people, they are Islamic fascists that pose a threat to national security. I'm sorry, but anyone in favor of this ruling, including those 5 nutjob judges, is a goofball.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) How in the world does putting MSNBC at 3 to 3.5 when 5 is defined as the middle qualify as calling MSNBC "Un-Biased"? 3.5 is near un-baised. Did I ever say he put it as a 5? No, but 3.5 is way too close to a 5 for MSNBC.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) That was an intelligent, well-thought out response with significant value Do I actually have to give an intelligent, well-thought out respone with significant value to a person who actually thinks MSNBC is anywhere near un-baised?
  8. I like to play arm-chair GM a lot, and I was thinking about next year. I personally feel one of Konerko or Dye will be gone, and if it's Konerko, Dye will be moved to 1B. Then, I'd shift my attention to Andre Ethier. IMO, he'd be a perfect fit for us. The only problem is getting him from LA. He might be expandable due to the fact LA is loaded with talent and they have Jones and Pierre locked into tough to move contracts. I don't know how realistic my idea is, but one can hope. With Ethier, I'd have the outfield as (from left-right) Ethier, Swisher, Quentin. Vs. tough lefties, I'd sub in Anderson for Ethier and have him swap positions with Swisher. When on the road in big outfields, I'd have Anderson replace one of Konerko/Dye, Swisher, or Thome (if it is one of Dye/Konerko/Thome being replaced, move Swish to 1B). Thoughts?
  9. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 08:42 AM) Take the challenge and watch 24 hours. I dont think there is a "left of far right" host on the network. Heck, most of them are smug righties who lack any ability to see past their own nose. For the record, I am a central independant and even I see that Fox is far from fair. On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being far left.... MSNBC is a 3 or 3.5 CNN is probably a 5.6 or 6 Fox News is a 9.5. lol, yeah keep drinking that koolaid.
  10. kinda OT, but while I was looking for something online, I came across several websites dedicated to make Fox News look bad, and kept crying bias and such. It's funny though, as these nuts probably watch MSNBC (the most biased station of them all) all day. I know Fox News has it's biases, every station does. But Fox so far has been the most fair, and that's not just me saying that, many democratic officials have said that as well.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 07:29 AM) Laurie Dhue doesn't work for Fox anymore... but she was SMOKING. Malkin is decent looking but I just can't stand to look at her when her lips are flapping. Why did Dhue leave? I miss her... I myself am a fan Meghan Kelly.
  12. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) Which one? I'm a big time Simpson's fan and I can't ever remember hearing him mentioned. When homer takes over the power plant... it's when Bart and Milhouse are having a pickup game with their friends.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 07:18 PM) the fix was in. he was already told pregame that it was coming. the only excuse the guy has is that he made the wrong signal. STILL PISSED. Oh puh-lease, spare me your conspiracy theories.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) Next 15 games against the NL, 9 at home and 12 within the city limits. Whats our record during that span? we still have another game vs. detroit tomorrow.
  15. I wouldn't give a s*** if the umpire said if he blew it. I would make sure I would get ejected from that game. That was terrible.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) Ryan Bukvich is starting against our triple A team. Wow. Not only that, but Luis Terrero is batting cleanup for Norfolk as well... Broadway having a nice rebound today after a couple of shakey starts. So far through 7: 8 K, 2 BB, 2 H, 0 R Fields 1-3 with a double and 2 K's. Richar with an 0'fer. Eldred still doing what he does, another homer, making 21 on the year now.
  17. How does our offense regress so much after 2 days? It's not like Verlander is doing anything special. Our offense is just hacking at everything right now, and looking foolish. I wish Hawk would shut-up about baseball now being a battle of bullpens.
  18. Is it true Blago flies in on a personal jet everyday from his regular home out there somewhere (forget where exactly) to Springfield?
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 08:37 AM) It's not stupid or overrated when you're talking about time on the DL or significantly diminished performance. Has Crede shown ill-effects, has indicated his back has been hurting him? I don't think so. So why baby him? If we were going to DL Konerko, it would have been when his injury was at it's worst point. Dye is old, but not that old. He's slow, but he's perfectly healthy. Thome is the only one you have a possible case for, but he's a DH. Thome is the only one who should have a possible random day off every once in a while.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 08:35 AM) Baltimore I'm pretty sure Baltimore won't be in contention next month, and if that's the case, they'd have no interest in wasting a couple mil and any type of prospect for Uribe.
  21. They might have been the only team willing to take Uribe. What other teams might want Uribe now? NOTE: I'm not saying this was a bad move, as Kenny got Loiza for nothing and at a cheaper price (right?).
  22. rest is a very overrated concept in baseball. These guys want to play, and play everyday. Do they get tired? Sure. But to put them on a routine of sitting 1-2 times a week is stupid, IMO. They'll need a day off, but these are professional athletes. If they can't handle playing at least 150-155 games, then they shouldn't be getting paid millions of dollars.
