  1. Since actually competing for a play off spot seems far fetched, I wish the team would just concentrate on making money and developing the younger players.
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 08:01 PM) Muhammad posts here? Let's test it. Muhammad, you ignorant slut! If you post an image that is deemed offensive by the moderators, it gets taken down. That is the point I was making.
  3. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 07:04 PM) Wisconsin exit poll http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/ It would seem that Obama is bringing in voters from outside the party regulars, who probably would stay home in the fall general if their guy isn't the nominee. I can't believe they would suddenly jump to JMc

  5. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 06:08 PM) I'd still rather they tapped into the unused radio frequencies for free internet. And if I read into this correctly, it doesn't seem that beneficial. But I suppose that depends on the cost. It takes your current cell phone and gives you better service at home. Basically you would have a mini cell tower at your house. Basically it removes another barrier to people going 100% cell phone and dumping their land line, poor reception inside homes.
  6. Here it could be considered a personal attack and taken down.
  7. If Texas decided to declare our independence, y'all would just move the wall 700 miles north

BTW, heard a great segment on Cowherd's show today. Basically about a third or more of baseball's GMs hold degrees from Ivy League and similar schools. K-Dub is quite at home in baseball being a Stanford Alum. So it seems if you are going to impersonate a baseball insider, claiming an Ivy League degree is great cover. Anyway, the GM as CEO comparison makes sense in the suits.
  10. Always trade the older, more expensive player for the less expensive, younger player with potential. It's all about team profits and potential.
  11. One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge. I was perhaps one and a half years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift, and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news and my brother was playing nearby in the living room when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was, "Just the cutest thing!" My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy She watches him drink it up. Then she says, "Did it ever occur to you that the only place that baby can reach to get water is the toilet?"
  12. I've learned more reading this thread then I would have in a classroom. Thanks guys.
  13. I just had an email alert testing my campus' crime system. That caused me to pause and pucker up as I opened the email.
  14. I wrote so many letters of apology to opponents when I was on the golf team I wish computers and word processors had been invented . . . I had the formula down pat I would like to apologize for my actions during our match on ________ . My conduct was an embarrasment to my team mates, my school, and my parents. blah blah blah But being a freshman with a 6 handicap kept me on the team

Old Guy R&R News TOWNSHEND REVEALS HIS WISH LIST FOR THE WHO IN 2008 Great news for all Who fans. In his latest blog entry on thewho.com, Pete Townshend gives you a sneak preview into what could be a packed diary for The Who in 2008. "After a talk with Roger yesterday," writes Pete, "we came up with a wish-list style plan. We still like the idea of playing Japan - especially as Amazing Journey has yet to be released there and we might be able to give it a push by performing there around the time of the release this Autumn. We also talked about revisiting Quadrophenia the way we did it in the '90s. This is all work for the Autumn. Roger is working on his own idea for an album for us, with the producer T-Bone Burnett, who is an old friend of mine. I am hoping to come up with some songs for a more conventional Who record. There is a chance we might play some shows in the Festival season this summer." Make sure you bookmark www.thewho.com for updates as they come in. SMASHING PRECONCEPTIONS This blog entry follows the publication of an exclusive interview in which Pete answers the questions of 50 subscribers to thewho.com in his own inimitable, uncompromising way. "Pete may not be smashing guitars anymore," says Rob Lee, Editor of thewho.com, "but he hasn't stopped smashing preconceptions." QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 08:23 AM) Not to totally hijack the thread, but kinda like a bunch of trial lawyers giving a bunch of money to Democrats to let FISA expire? Just sayin'. Exactly. Thankfully it doesn't happen with Republicans
  18. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 07:15 AM) I caught a 4ft. long Grand Barracuda off the coast of Miami in 2002. Seemed like it took an eternity to get it into the boat, but in reality it was about 25 minutes. That thing now resides on the wall over my desk. Hey FlaSoxxJim, I found your pet 'cuda . . .

Yesterday, I was listening to some students discuss where to sit in class. At first I thought it was distasteful gallows humor. After listening I realized they were seriously discussing it and concerned for their own safety. There are thousands of colleges and tens of thousands of lecture halls, hundreds of thousands, maybe millions of classrooms. The odds are so small we would ever be around a gunman. Sad that the conversation did make sense. I sit up front. Probably always will.

What will be most interesting is how we handle any changes in immigration. Currently, if a Cuban touches the sand, they are a citizen. If they are intercepted in the surf, they are returned. Perhaps we will normalize relations and put something together that is less risky for the Cubans. I am certain there will be much speculation over the coming weeks and months. But in the end not much change at all. He had a very long reign.
