It's more than winning 4 on this trip it was beating the Yankees 2 of 3 in NY. If the scores in NY were reversed and we swept the Tigers there would still be several questions marks. Winning the Yankees series was critical.

If I understand the formula, but I probably don't, the wild card team can not play a team from its' own division in the 1st round, so giving the Yankees the East, that means between the M's, A,s, and BoSox will come the wildcard. I believe the team with the best record plays the wildcard so we will get the other division winner. Oakland is making another great end of the season charge and I believe they will win the West and have the best AL record. The M's will beat the Red Sox for the wildcard setting up a Sox-A's, Mariner's Yankees 1st round.

Damn it feels strange to say it but on this Labor Day I truely believe we are one of the top 5 or 6 teams in baseball. But like any long term Chicago baseball fan I'm holding my breath wonderng when things will go wrong.

If there is an old fashioned romance in this game Frank will retire as a White Sox. No one has put more fannies in the Sox seats than Frank. While I wish he had the PR gift that Sammy, Walter, MJ, and other Chicago stars have had for this generation he is Mr. White Sox. I believe he could have slugged 600 home runs if he had been more selfish earlier in his career. Instead he is as complete a hitter as you could find and at his best umpires would hesitate to second guess him on balls and strikes.
