  1. That keeps you up? Have you thought of Viagra? That will really . . .

    SOS!

If we can make the Tigers look like the Yankees maybe we can make the Yankees look like the Tigers? If somebody would step up and look like a closer for a month or two we will be fine. If we have to sit and pucker our ass everytime JM grabs the ball and makes the call we're pretenders.
  3. While we're making predictions dose JM resign or get fired? Who is the closer for 2004? Youth movement after we can't sign 4 or 5 guys? 1 game back and it will not take 30-20 to win this division. 27-23 will probably take it. None of these teams are that good.
  4. Sorry, Wrigley lover here. I remember as a kid walking up the ramp into sunshine, seeing the ivy and the players. All good memories. I'm not a big fan of skyboxes, retail stores, hotels etc. Just thought of something wasn't it in the 60's or early 70's that they added the fence thingy on the outfield wall to keep the bleacher bums from running on the field? Hmmm, could it be that Wrigly has a longer history of such stuff?
  5. Pitching wise our best hope is 9-9-9 as in innings pitched by our starters. Unless something changes between now and the end of the season (plus we land in 1st place) our bullpen will really be exposed.
  6. I like how often he gets tossed from games. Maybe he could start getting tossed earlier, like when he's filling out the lineup card.
  7. They say the Royals do all the little things to beat you :fyou
  8. How about this to churn the stomach acid . . . last game of the season, one run lead going into the ninth, must win, and JM calls for his closer . . . Freddy and Jason are less scary.
  9. Am I the only one that would love to trade him for Mariotti? Objective is nice, but give me a nice dose of homer from time to time. Tell me this Sox team really can win the division. Don't tell me we have almost no bullpen and our manager flips a coin or calls the psychic hotline to figure out what to do.
  10. Our closer situation is better for beer sales than any commercial ever devised. As soon as we get in the 9th with a small 8 run lead my stomache begins to churn and I have to reach for a beer. Flush, Botch, or Marte at this point is like lethal injection, hanging, or firing squad. Couple of things I like to see from a closer. Hmmm, actually closing down the other team would be nice. Not falling behind in every count. Not putting a couple runners on to make it interesting. Not grooving a fastball and staring at the sky as it is launched deep into the stands. JM, pick a closer between Marte and Flash and let them close. No 40+ pitches. Have him close. Let everyone know who the man is, treat him like your guy and let's go. If it's both let the guys know don't use a Quiji board to figure it out.
  11. I'm not exactly a JM fan but imagine trying to manage with this f***ed up bullpen. I'm holding my breath with a 4 run lead. I don't believe we can close out anyone at anytime. If someone doesn't step up before too long we may be sucking wind at the end. Honestly is anyone comfortable with our pen and a 3 run lead? 5 run lead? 7 run lead?
  12. Take a deep breath and look at the calendar. We have one more slump to go through before the post season.
  13. You are the coolest! You are the man! If I was 1600 miles closer I would buy you a beer!
  14. Let's see what it will take to see JM next season in the Sox dugout. Miss playoffs? See ya. Adios. No chance to see Spring in Chicago. Sell the house. Playoff spot? Slim chance but maybe to save money . . . First round win? Very good chance ALCS? Excellent chance WS Loss? Hell we'll have a parade and annoint him the biggest thing since Da Coach WS Win? Rename Michigan Avenue.
  15. See how s*** will dog you forever. I get all the Ranger and Astros coverage down here and Carl was a model citizen for the Rangers. In some cases, like Carl and Robbies you have to give the guy a break. In other's throw the book and make it stick :sosasucks
  16. There were local reports of a cloud in South McAllen but so far no confirmation. 100 degrees with about a 20% humidity today. If you would like a personalized McAllen Texas weather report cut and paste the folloiwng line for the next 75 days Today it will be Sunny with a high between 100 and 105 degrees with a Southeast wind of 12-15 mph as I said repeat for months on end. My last Schaumburg office was at Algonquin and 53 and I was living in Wheeling right off Willow. I hated days like today knowing my 20 minute commute was going to be double that. Crawl down 53, stop 3 times at every light on Willow. . .
  17. Just wondering how many announcers spend time in the clubhouse? For some reason I never invisioned Jack Brickhouse hanging around the shower.
